• Quick note - the problem with Youtube videos not embedding on the forum appears to have been fixed, thanks to ZiprHead. If you do still see problems let me know.

Does 'rape culture' accurately describe (many) societies?

First, I didn't say that I don't think it's a threat. I said that you haven't demonstrated that it is. Second, seriously, nobody watches or is even capable of watching porn 24/7. Third, I deny your assumption of matrimonormativity.
I didn't suggest anyone was watching 24/7. But it's there if you want it.
You deny that most people are in a traditional relationship? The sort that leads to birth and the survival of the human species?

I do not deny that most people are in a relationship that involves traditional marriage. That's why I call it "matrimonormative" (which I believe is a term I made up). You don't need marriage to have birth and the survival of the human species, and marriage is heavily burdened with religious patriarchy not to mention the cultural tradition of excess that is involved in the process. Personally, I'm against it. I have never been traditionally married and I never will be. And yet, I have successfully and happily propagated the species at a sustainable level.

The religious approach is the assumption that children do not and will not occur unless traditional marriage is involved. (This is one reason why religious people are always so threatened by the idea of same-sex marriage.) I find that assumption arrogant.

More important than marriage is commitment (especially if kids are planned) - we might agree on that.

Cultural tradition of excess?

Marriage is just another way of at least attempting to be committed - which is a good thing. Others have commented on fatherlessness.

I'm not entirely sure there is disagreement here.

.

You appear to keep reaching for the rose-coloured glasses on this issue - especially when it's the UK's integrity on the line. As uncomfortable as you might find it, the UK continues to allow kids to watch porn - all sorts of extreme porn including material that features actors looking like children.
No it doesn't.

No it doesn't.
You have yet to deal with #3,730. Porn like the Bonnie Blue classroom video (featuring actors that look very young (which you describe as abhorrent)) is NOT ILLEGAL on the internet.

Your (our) own Children's Commissioner disagrees with you. As does Ms Bertin and the porn taskforce.

If the porn video gives the appearance of the performers being under 18 it is illegal in the UK, doesn't matter what media or distribution channel is used.

And asked to cite a law that will actually deliver a prosecution you can't. In the real (UK) world we need additional legislation which is predicted to happen later in the year with the Crime and Policing Bill.

This is getting Kafkaesque.

I'll post this again (UK parliament publications):

This amendment, tabled by Jess Asato MP, would extend content regulations that already exist for pornography distributed offline to pornography distributed online. This amendment is necessary to ensure what is illegal offline is illegal online and thereby combat the proliferation of violence against women in online pornography.

6. This has resulted in mainstream pornography sites hosting a vast amount of content that while it is not strictly illegal is none the less extremely harmful. Of particular concern is content that depicts sexual activity with children. Known as ‘barely legal’ or ‘teen porn’, or ‘incest porn’, this content contains petite, young looking performers made to look underage through props such as stuffed toys, lollipops and school uniforms. This normalises children as objects of sexual desire and drives the demand for child sexual abuse material. [3]

No, it really isn't. What ever gave you that impression? The problem with an absence of marriage from a religious standpoint has never been that children don't happen. You'd need to be an idiot to think religion doesn't recognize that not only can this happen, it does happen.

Do you think that Furry porn normalizes bestiality?

Do you think that children that look like actors (playing the part of a child in porn) will be attractive to those who bring themselves to orgasm over such content?

Also Sprach Darat? Darat is God?
This isn't an argument from authority. It's not true because Darat said it, but it is still true. The reason I noted that Darat already pointed this out is because you don't really have an excuse for not knowing this by now.
