The behaviour of UK police officers.

Trying again here. The Times printed an article about the police raid on Stuart’s home. They did some checking. They contacted the police and asked for comment. The police did not say, who is Mr Campbell. They did not say, this is false, we didn’t go near Mr Campbell’s home that night or any night. They said nothing. Possibly out of embarrassment.

How can you possibly maintain that Stuart invented the story?

As I said, Stuart is a personal friend of mine in real life. I’ve known him since about 2012. He may be an infuriating, argumentative bugger. He may affect an abrasive personality online to annoy his opponents. He may be very reluctant to back down if he realises he got something wrong. (Admittedly, this doesn’t happen very often.) He may know that human beings can’t change sex, and not be shy about saying so. But he is not a fantasist. He does not make up lurid stories about being raided by the police in the middle of the night and having to contact a specialist lawyer as a matter of urgency.

In the other corner we have Alex Horwood, who now calls himself Lynsay Watson, who has twice been dismissed by the police for gross misconduct, and now makes a hobby of submitting complaints to his old mates about anyone whose opinions he doesn’t like. Over 300 of these and counting. The complaint he submitted about Graham Linehan cost the Met £25,000 in compensation.

It takes a special sort of devotion to all things trans to look at this lot and say, no, the disgraced ex-policeman is in the right here, and his victim has invented a story out of nothing.

Catsmate, you seem to have a mindset that believes implicitly that anyone who doesn’t share your frankly delusional belief that men can turn into women is not simply in disagreement with you, but must therefore possess a degree of moral turpitude that any right-thinking person, when this is pointed out, will immediately agree that he must be a liar. I think you really need to examine this position. It’s not very sceptical, you know.

Here is some info about @catsmate's favorite, honest super reliable friend...

Watson, 56, sent more than 1,200 abusive and derogatory messages to a member of the public via social media over an 18-month period, calling him a Nazi, fascist and bigot, and doctoring photographs of him. Though arrested in 2022 related to this course of conduct, Watson was not charged, and remained a serving officer until finally dismissed a year later.

Following a court hearing in February 2025, Mrs Justice Hill dismissed a claim made by Watson that Greater Manchester Police (GMP) had been wrong to to take no further action against the political commentator Stuart Campbell (who runs the popular Wings Over Scotland news analysis website) regarding social media posts he had made on trans issues. In a victory for free speech, GMP’s decision made in November 2023 was ruled “both lawful and correct”, i.e. did not cross the threshold to be considered objectively ‘grossly offensive’. The judgment can be read here and a detailed post from Wings Over Scotland on the sorry saga is here.

The article also details how court documents revealed that Horwood/Watson made complaints to the police about the author and feminist Helen Joyce, after she posted about her appearance on an Institute for Economic Affairs (IEA) discussion panel with Peter Tatchell and UK trans activist Fred/Freda Wallace, who appeared drunk and belligerent. Ms Joyce has written for The Critic (archived here) and her own website (archived here) about her dystopian experience of Watson being able to inveigle multiple police forces into pursuing her and recording her as having committed “harassment” – a crime – based on an unsupported allegation and without a trial, and dismissing her reciprocal complaint against him.

Stuart Campbell, Of Wings Over Scotland, posted on X/Twitter on 14 February 2026 that Watson had been arrested on 12 February at Manchester Civil Justice Centre. He wrote “After months of avoiding arrest warrants by hiding, disgraced former policeman and serial plaguer of gender-critical people Lynsay Watson was finally apprehended this week at Manchester Civil Justice Centre, on suspicion of criminal harassment against me.”

Watson had apparently attended the court in connection with one of his endless attempts to get people who disagree with him arrested and presumably charged with a hate crime for misgendering or somesuch. It later turned out that the court hearing was in fact part of Watson’s ongoing campaign against the writer and Director of Advocacy at Sex Matters, Helen Joyce – see here for her perceptive account of Watson’s attempt to judicially review the police force who elected not to charge her on his say-so. Since Watson was required to attend court in person, Wings Over Scotland’s Stuart Campbell alerted Greater Manchester Police who arrested Watson on an outstanding warrant following complaints Mr Campbell (and others) made in 2025. Watson was interviewed and released on bail.

This is a perfect example of what I was talking about earlier, cleaning up the mess but never learning from it, or doing what it takes to put a stop to this lunatic. This piece of human garbage has been doing this since the late 1990s... he needs to have been stopped a long, long time ago.

And despite all that, the police (some of them anyway) are  still acting as his personal goon squad and harassing anyone he sets them on.

For anyone interested in a more factual account of the Campbell matter.

Campbell made a number of social media posts regarding the case of Brianna Ghey, a trans girl who was brutally murdered in 2023. These posts were, to be succinct, he called Ghey a "trans-identifying boy" a also stating "Human beings can't change sex. Being murdered doesn't alter that" and, after being called out in mis-gendering, "I'll call him what I... like, mate".

A trans activist, Lynsay Watson (who is trans) complained and eventually took a judicial review, which failed.
Recently after an additional complaint Campbell was questioned again by police. He claims they threatened a late night arrest, they deny this. No further action was taken against Campbell
Campbell is now complaining, and is supported by Toby Young's "Free Speech Union", part of a network of right-wing groups backed by the Kochs and revolving around Spiked.

So Campbell, after the peelers made a start at the appropriate action, ran crying to neo-nazi* Toby Young.

*He's been to heavily involved with such groups over the years to argue otherwise.

Wow 'TranscrimeUK', that's not a biased source......
Perhaps it's time for 'TERFcrimesUK'?
Can you be specific about what it is in the TranscrimeUK report that you disagree with or would dispute as incorrect?

These blanket statements of dismissal are not as effective to your case as you seem to think.

Maybe they have merit? I'll never know because it seems that they are all you have in you argument

You're lying again. Campbell is not a reliable narrator, as demonstrated by his previous behaviour. You don't accept this because of your shared opinions.
I know very little about Campbell, but I have looked through all the posts here and nobody has provided any evidence that he is an unreliable narrator.

I'm not sure why you think this "more factual" account is supposed to accomplish.

All of which should be free speech, that anyone should be able to express without fear of state retaliation. If this is a factual account of what he actually posted, none of the below should ever have happened.

A trans activist, Lynsay Watson (who is trans) complained and eventually took a judicial review, which failed.
Watson's complaints should have been ignored. Campbell and his speech should never have been subjected to a judicial review. The review should not have gone on long enough to fail. It should have been dismissed at the very first hearing on the matter.

Recently after an additional complaint Campbell was questioned again by police. He claims they threatened a late night arrest, they deny this. No further action was taken against Campbell
Just being questioned is already too much. The actions already taken against Campbell were already unjust state persecution.

Campbell is now complaining, and is supported by Toby Young's "Free Speech Union", part of a network of right-wing groups backed by the Kochs and revolving around Spiked.
Campbell has a moral right - I would even say a moral duty - to complain about Watson's abuse of the criminal justice system. He has a moral right and duty to complain about the behavior of the police and the courts in this matter. The fact that he can't find a network of left-wing groups to support him says more about the left than it does about him.

This factual account of yours makes Campbell look innocent, makes the police look corrupt and ignorant, and makes Watson look like an antisocial scumbag. Is that what you had planned, when you posted it?

So Campbell, after the peelers made a start at the appropriate action, ran crying to neo-nazi* Toby Young.

Nothing the police did in this matter was appropriate action.

The fact that Campbell couldn't find anyone on the left to run to, in the face of this unjust persecution, says a lot about how deranged the left has gotten, on this issue.

Good luck getting a meaningful answer that isn't just another dodge. Its the facts that he disagrees with. That website simply reports facts, and those are inconvenient for him.

Getting back to behaviour. In the UK we have The Highway Code, it's an official set of rules, guides and advice designed to promote road safety for everyone.
Everyone, that is, unless you are a copper making your way back to the station.

Highway Code - ◊◊◊◊ off!

Follows a cop into cop station to have a word about HIS driving... that balls of steel right there!!

I was once hazed by a couple of police cars, I mean serious provocation (which I ignored), because they interpreted my merge in turn as carving them up. Some similarities to this incident. But it was in about 1994 and I had no dashcam and I couldn't afford any more points on my licence so while the temptation to do what that guy did was enormous I just kept saying I was sorry till they let me go. I knew I hadn't done anything wrong.

I think it is important that we attempt to have him give us a meaningful, specific, takedown of the reported information. If he won't then it means he can't.

If he can't then he has no voice in this issue.

It's easy to accuse him. Let him be hoist on his own petard.

You're not wrong there!

Ashley Neal (former footballer and son of Phil Neal - if you know, you know) has a big YT channel. He's a driving instructor and knows a thing or two.

The police, despite their enhanced driver training, will make mistakes and with social media, those mistakes will often find their way online, as some people can even make money from the views. I am so glad most of my career was prior to mobile phones and YouTube. I am quite sure there are lots of mistakes made by driving instructors as well, despite their enhanced training.

I had words with one of my motorbike instructors, as he had a habit of lecturing every motorist he saw who made any sort of error. He seemed taken aback that I picked him up on that, but driving instructors are not police officers, what would he do if he provoked the wrong person and I am paying for his time to teach me, not lecture others.

I'm a big fan of the police driving manual Roadcraft. My copy's not to hand but they acknowledge that at times the "red mist" will descend and you'll make mistakes and here's advice about that. Realistic and pragmatic if my memory serves.

You choose to ignore the officer failing to acknowledge his 'mistake' then go on to lie about what actually transpired.

Interesting.

Does it mention owning up to ones mistakes. If so the officer clearly skipped that page.
