Sayid wins in Michigan. By a very narrow margin.
I guess the Progressives will be happy, but they will not be so happy if this cost the Dems that Michigan senate seat.

We don't have state income taxes. But the governor just signed a millionnaire's tax that goes into effect in 2028. Dire warnings of the rich leaving the state and taking their jobs with them. Or it's just a stepping stone to taxes for all. I'm all for it, we have a pretty regressive tax system here.

I don't think it matters. I think dudalb just hates anything progressive. You can't expect him to think clearly when he's been so recently shaken by the "DSA Manifesto" after all. It's communism at our doorstep!

Another state where the rich are going to leave because millionaires are going to get taxed the appropriate amount? They're going to run out of places to go pretty soon. California, New York City, Washington State, and I'm sure a few others will catch up as well. I guess they'll all run to Florida? It's going to be populated down there.

Yes, because stepping to the right each time the GOP shifted further fascist has helped so much.
Perhaps there are voters in the US who do not have your near pathological fear of anything vaguely socialist and look at how EU countries are run and wonder 'why not have that here too'?

Abdul won 48.5% to Steven's 47.5%
Overall there were just over 1.5 million votes cast in the primary. Unfortunately, Rogers ran unopposed in the republican race, so no vote count there.

Scrolling to the governor races, Benson won the dem race with 83% of the just under 1.5 million votes. On the GOP side, James pulled 49.8% of ~935000 votes.

The take away is in the primary, known for when the die hard voters come out, the demo got 1.5 million people out to vote. The GOP got 935k, a 565000 deficit.

In 2024, Trump won the state with 2.8 million to Harris' 2.7. It was pretty close the. From an on the ground view in Michigan in 2026, the GOP/MAGA are just not feeling it here. The flags, hats, bumper stickers that were everywhere two years ago are gone. I think Abdul can win the election come November, provided he doesn't pull a Platner.

I don't know; but I would not be surprised if he distanced himself from the DSA.
One thing is sure, he is busy rexamining his campaign, his very narrow victory shows he is going to have to win over the more moderate Democrats, and sometimes Ideologues have a really hard time when they have to deal with those who are not True Beleivers.
I hope he does, I want the Dmes to take back the senate, and It will be hard to do so without Michigan.
And, in the General, can Sayid appeal to the rural voters in Michigan, there are lots of them and the Dems cannot win without sucessfully raiding into The generally red rural districts. The first thing he has to do is give up on the whole Lost Tribe Strategy; there is no huge hidden pool of Left wing voters in Michigan.

I don't sense much resentment from Stevens voters. I think they're smart enough to realize that the little differences in policy they had is nothing compared to what happens if Rogers wins. I suspect he won't have to do a lot of woo-ing, he'll still get all the big name endorsements (to the degree they're effective). Who he needs are unhappy independents and I'm pretty sure there are a lot of them.

Define progressive; I support UHC and Higher taxes on the wealthy, but, yes, I do not beliece that the goverment should run the economy.
And have you read the Manifesto? Or are you just blindly defending anything that is 'Progressive". I suggest you go ot their webite and read it and you will understand why I am concerned. The Government take over all housing? Getting rid of the Senate, the Surpemce Court, and the Presidency? And that is clearly stated.
And,frankly, you are coming off as somebody with a tea party mentality;Anybody not as militant as you should be tossed out of the party.
And I note you get upset if ANYBODY dares to criticise the Left. You are living in an echo chamber, guy,no better then the MAGA you hate.
