Trump's Second Term

Remember when MAG freaked out because fencing went up in DC in 2024? This time it's totally different, right?
Don't be silly, of course it is.

Then it was presumably an indicator of how out of touch and fearful Biden was, unlike the sensible precautions of today. The world has moved on

Oh, and Trump is clearly incapable of making a bad decision. They might look bad on the outside, but that's just because you haven't processed enough special pleading

Trump adds over 250 people to investigate "election fraud" in Georgia.

NBC News said:
July 2: FBI calls for ‘immediate surge’ of personnel to help Fulton County 2020 election probe, sources say. The effort will add 260 personnel in Georgia for a probe of an election President Donald Trump has long alleged was “rigged.”

ICE shoots and kills a man in Houston.

The Guardian said:
July 7: A federal immigration agent fatally shot a driver in Houston , the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE) has said. His son, Ronaldo Salgado, told Telemundo Houston that his father had been out that morning looking for workers in the area. According to ICE, Salgado Araujo “weaponized his vehicle in an attempt to run over an ICE law enforcement officer”. The confrontation resulted in “our officer firing his weapon in self-defense”. ICE did not provide any evidence corroborating its account, which echoes descriptions of other ICE shootings. The Texas Civil Rights Project condemned ICE’s use of force and raised questions about the agency’s statement on the shooting.

Trump Says He’ll Ask Supreme Court to Rehear Citizenship Case, an Unlikely Event [New York Times]

New York Times said:
July 8: President Trump said that he would ask the Supreme Court to reconsider its decision to strike down his executive order that aimed to revoke birthright citizenship, a request that the justices are highly unlikely to take up. Mr. Trump said that he would ask for a “rehearing” of the case “IMMEDIATELY,” and that the justices would “destroy America if they don’t change their absolutely insane decision.”

The Trump administration is using the Department of Justice to lean on state electoral commissions.

The Guardian said:
July 8: The US Department of Justice sent letters to election officials in every state threatening potential criminal charges for officials if non-citizens vote, an escalation in an ongoing push by the federal government. The justice department confirmed letters went out to all 50 states and the District of Columbia, “asking for voluntary compliance in a timely manner with their obligations under federal law to ensure only citizens vote in federal elections”. Threatening criminal charges escalates a longstanding back and forth between the federal government and the states over voter data. The federal government has previously sought access to state voter rolls, which contain the personal data of millions of Americans. States have refused to turn the data over, resulting in lawsuits that the administration has been losing.

Administration continues its attack on everyone who isn't a white heterosexual male (also known as diversity, equality, and inclusion.)

Reuters said:
July 9: The U.S. Department of Justice said it reached a settlement to end diversity admissions practices at a Jersey City college prep school, the latest crackdown on diversity, equity and inclusion by President Donald Trump's administration.

Palm Beach, Florida, renames its airport after Trump.

Reuters said:
July 9: Palm Beach, Florida officially renamed its airport after President Donald Trump on Thursday, becoming the latest in a series of institutions, buildings, government programs, warships and money to take on the Republican's identity.
