Ed The JD Vance thread

It sure does. Billionaires created Vance. The fact that they hedged their bets in case Harris won doesn't change anything.

I'm all for billionaires or anyone else to vote for my side - take what you get - but I wouldn't take it too seriously. I think these big numbers have become so common that we tendto forget their real dimension. A billion isn't just like a big bunch of millions. It's a thousand millions.

A billionaire can afford to massage their conscience a little. Trump promises higher returns, but at a risk, since he's so stupid and unpredictable. Harris talks more anti-billionaire rhetoric but realistically she wouldn't have done much. After all, a person with a couple of billion could pay out a billion and still have enough to live on ten million a year for the next hundred years even if they just stuffed it in the mattress.

Basically, if we discuss the doings of billionaires, we need to think not just out of the box but out of the planet we live on.

Tell me gaink what qulafies Vance for the job of US President?
He never managed or ran anything in his life.

A sterling history of not having failed. Yet.

I'm sure there's plenty of time yet for him to acquire a modest tranche of the frauds, felonies, failures and bankruptcies needed for the final sprint to greatness.
That is assuming has the smarts to pull off a fraud sucessfully.
worst thing here is a reasonable chance he could actully become POTUS within the next four years.
Which would be interesiing, since he has little real respect and no real major following in the GOP. He is regarded as a pure opportunist, not to be trusted.

I wouldn't worry on his behalf. His failure will be beautiful and perfect, such a failure as can only be called a success, just like those of his dear mentor.

well, lately, obviously the latter, but I grew up in NY, I've known about Drumpf a long time, he used to be a lot smoother. I think his early cons were mostly of the former kind.
From memory, but I remember reading the T****y biography released shortly after his 2016 "win" by a pair of Washington Post journalists which dealt extensively with his business career. And from that book I got the clear impression that even back in the 80s the commercial success of his schemes were inversely proportional to his involvement in them. If the scheme came from an underling and was largely run by them, it was more likely to be profitable. But if he stuck his oar in, then the scheme would quickly go down the tubes.

Wish I still had the book to hand.

This entire election was Billionaires vs. Billionaires, with both sides winning and everyone else losing.
Well to be fair it was a lot of multi-millionaires too, aspiring to be billionaires. And the main actors on the left were actually pretty poor in comparison, especially poor Tim Walz....

Fact is, there is going to be one hell of a fight over who will be the new King Of MAGA when Trump goes to his reward.
That is the thing about most movement centered around a charisamtici leader: when he goes hte movemnt almost always fracture.

They'll be the King of Liliput once Trump is gone. Even that might be generous.
