you can take a guy out of Blackwater, but you can't take the Blackwater out of a guy...
"“just and lasting peace grounded in the equal human rights of all people in the region.”Thirty years in the House won't save you.
Democratic socialist Melat Kiros unseats Rep. Diana DeGette in Colorado House primary
Well, I am glad that is over.Platner is out. Just quit.
I read that his suspension yesterday was an attempt to bargain with the Maine Democrats; He would go if he could have a major role in selecting his sucessor. guess he wanted to be Warwick the Kingmaker if he could not be King. The Main Dems told him, from what I have read, to go to hell,,quite rightly. Planter right now is the kiss of death, and Platner finally got that the jig was up and quit.
You're just in time for the next one. Allies of McConnell have to pretend that he's still alive until Aug 3rd to avoid having a special election to fill his seat.Well, I am glad that is over.
That is the rumor. But, that might not necessarily be the case. You're just in time for the next one. Allies of McConnell have to pretend that he's still alive until Aug 3rd to avoid having a special election to fill his seat.
[For people who haven't been following: he ded. Beautiful plumage though.]

It should be noted that law directly contradicts the Kentucky state constitution, which explicitly gives the governor the right to appoint a replacement to finish the term. Granted, with just a few weeks until the end of the term, I doubt Beshear will bother suing or anything. It's as if the GOP legislation in KY knew ahead of time:
Under a 2024 Kentucky law (House Bill 622), U.S. Senate vacancies must be filled through a special election rather than by an interim gubernatorial appointment.
If a vacancy occurs:
- Special Election: The governor must call a special election, and the winner serves the remainder of the unexpired term.
- State Party Nominations: Rather than a traditional primary election, the state's political party executive committee of the vacating senator dictates the nominee who runs in the special election.
- Narrow Timeline Exceptions: If the vacancy happens within 56 days of a regularly scheduled November general election, the seat remains empty until that regularly scheduled election
Most likely, that's exactly why they're stalling. Beshear would probably appoint the present Democratic nominee, Charles Booker, and send him to Washington with legal credentials to be sworn in. This would force the U.S. Senate leadership to accept or deny legal credentials issued by authorization of the Kentucky state constitution. It should be noted that law directly contradicts the Kentucky state constitution, which explicitly gives the governor the right to appoint a replacement to finish the term. I think it's likely that McConnell is alive but only because he's on life support. I wouldn't put it past these son of a bitch bastards to keep him that way right through the November election.
I really hate to say "I hope gas prices remain high and inflation increases"... But, one of the concerns I have is that oil prices will start to decrease in the late summer (once Trump has finished grovelling to Iran). Voters will forget that Trump CAUSED the increase in prices in the first place and somehow give him credit for the decrease. The rise in gas prices over the past two days will play in the Dems favor, even if the prices go down before the election. Most people hate insecurity, and energy prices, thanks to Trump, are vary insecure.
Trump will just blame Biden. Or Obama, who caused the Iran War.The rise in gas prices over the past two days will play in the Dems favor, even if the prices go down before the election. Most people hate insecurity, and energy prices, thanks to Trump, are vary insecure.
Even before Iran, Trump was collapsing in the polls.I really hate to say "I hope gas prices remain high and inflation increases"... Yes I know that he was unpopular before the Iran war. But that conflict did increase accelerate the drop in his approval ratings. I don't want to see that drop reversed. (Even if he wasn't well liked before the war, it is better for the democrats for him to have "really high disapproval" ratings compared to just "high disapproval".)Even before Iran, Trump was collapsing in the polls.I really hate to say "I hope gas prices remain high and inflation increases"... Yes, American voters (or at least a significant segment) are morons beyond redemption.DO you read the polls. or have you decided that the American voters are morons beyong redemption"
FTFYTrump will just blame Biden. Or Obama, whocaused the Iran Warwore a tan suit.
It can be both.FTFY
