The behaviour of UK police officers.

Don't forget the police's woke predjudice against nice middle class Tory women who call for men, women and children to be burnt alive.

This is probably relevant: folk being done for saying things in public they've been thinking or saying in private for a long time and being pissed off that racists can't racist so much these days. And that making threats has consequences...

As alternative theories to a woke conspiracy to discriminate against white people, could I suggest the following?

1) Some police officers (quite possibly a small minority) are violent thugs, some (also quite possibly a small minority) are violent racist thugs. The expected result would be a number of instances of police officers mistreating black and Asian people plus a smaller number of instances of police officers mistreating white people

2) Some police officers (yet again...) are violent, racist, stupid thugs. When told they're beating up too many black and Asian people, their instinctive response is to beat up a few white people too just to make the numbers look a bit better. Again, same result.

In neither case do we need to posit the existence of instructions to officers that they should deliberately victimise white people and show favouritism to black and Asian people.

Reckon it might be written down the same place as the forum rules here that disallow saying that you are convinced that the police have been instructed to let minorities off while treating whites like perps, and have to instead complain that the police have 'gone woke' which is sufficiently coded as to be allowed.

However, police officers wearing insignia showing allegiance to one side of a highly contested political debate, cosying up to its proponents at public events and proclaiming their allegiance with Pride does not sit well with citizens who are on the other side of that debate.

At least they're rowing back on it now.
I read the document. It didn't say "Guys, let's beat up a few more white folks just to level things up a bit." It did suggest that the approach to policing ethnic communities might need to be tailored to their specific cultures to ensure equality of outcomes, which I think reflects an unfortunate but genuine situation - different minority ethnicities have different backgrounds and react to the police in different ways, and failing to recognise this and understand it is in itself a form of discrimination. Basically, the document is trying to say "Stop expecting everybody to behave like middle class white people."

Really? At least the police admitted it had been a mistake. (The link in the article leads to the revised document, I don't think the original is available any more.)

If the original document isn't available then it's a bit difficult to comment, but the quotes you used were in the one linked.

Oh I'm terribly sorry, I mistook the entire context being racial for the entire context being racial and didn't realise the issue was not being able to fixate on complaining about trans flag colors & badges on cop stuff. I do see now that that's what had got in your cornflakes for those last few posts, and I mean it is the thread about cop behaviour, and that is behaviour. I must have just got mixed up with the last xty pages being about white guys being treated very badly by the police and assuming when you said you can only talk about it by calling it 'woke' you meant the racial issues and not the other thing. But now I see what you meant with the line about fetish gear. Well, carry on.

I only brought it up because someone declared that it had been proven that "woke" indoctrination of the police had not affected their policing. The one-sided policing on this matter has been absolutely scandalous, including Surrey police lionising a very dodgy character who was later convicted of child abuse, using him as an advisor and ignoring all complaints against him.

There has been at least one court case about this specific issue, which the police lost, but still they continue. I used to go on a lot of marches for Scottish independence, and the attending police officers were strictly neutral. Occasionally we got a smile, but the idea that they'd turn up waving Yes flags, painting saltires on their faces and posing for selfies with the marchers would have been rightly condemned. And yet that's effectively what they have been doing at Pride marches.

It's highly intimidating to people who see that "Progress" flag as symbolising the abolition of women's rights and the mutilation of confused children to have the police draping themselves in its colours and professing what good allies they are.

Yes, just as it's annoying to those who don't see it that way but are loath to give cops credit for a bit of flag-waving. However even an empty gesture of acceptance suggests someone, somewhere at least thinks it's a good idea to look accepting, and that's honestly better than nothing if you're part of a group that's got a little existential dread baked in.

Or a group that has organisations, law enforcement, the health service, the education system dancing to its tune while claiming to be the most marginalised on the face of the globe. The police should not be showing favouritism like this, and they have judgments against them for it. The situation in Surrey is, or certainly was, absolutely scandalous, and they're not alone. Two-tier policing indeed.

I wasn't going to bring it up, but the announcement that the police's woke training hasn't affected their policing is absolutely risible.

Hm. The first article I found on the Stephen Ireland situation (from The Times) makes it sound like the main crux of the problem there was Surrey police chiefs letting themselves get buttered up by a charismatic community club leader, until they ended up treating him like a chum, with no oversight. Even less oversight than your typical charity or org, since "Pride in Surrey volunteers were concerned Ireland had made himself the organisation’s safeguarding lead. This is universally regarded as bad governance since the person with most to lose from a scandal is most inclined to cover it up. Yet since Pride in Surrey is not a registered charity but a “community interest company”, it lacks the oversight of either trustees or the charity commission."

No group is without bad actors. Any institution that looks as if it was cowed by bad faith accusations of bigotry to the point they will not investigate any claims, including claims made by other members of the group, was not, imo, interested in investigating those claims in the first place - and that is, yes, a huge problem.

Cops should not be friends with Pride community leaders to the point that they won't hear anything bad said about them. They shouldn't be friends with anyone to the point that they won't hear anything bad said about them.

Honestly, reading a bit more (and between the lines) the big red flags that had been on display in that case don't seem to have been anything the cops would have had much to do with. For instance, the guy personally running an underage helpline from his personal phone is 100% WTF?!?! material, but what are the cops supposed to do about it?

It sounds like the moment a serious offence was reported the guy and his partner were investigated and put away.

It seems to me the tragedy here was the Pride in Surrey group itself allowing itself to be legally organized like a cult and so letting this prominent figure get away with so much questionable (but not illegal) ◊◊◊◊ before getting slapped in the face with the fact that the guy was in fact a full-on child rapist.

That's a good summary. He's probably the worst example, but he's not an isolated case. There is a group of trans activists who are using the police as their personal goon squad, and the police have been co-operating with enthusiasm. Moves are underway to have the ringleader declared a vexatious litigant, because all he has to do is issue or threaten legal action and they jump to his tune. Gratifyingly, just today, another of his endless complaints (against the police, I think for not jumping high enough) was thrown out by a judge.

Oh wait, no, that was "Lynsay" Watson, whereas I was thinking of "Stephanie" Hayden. Two creeps, similar MO.

Lozza - straight outta Harrow! Public School Boys With Attitude! Gangsta! Gangsta!
Loozza has held a grudge against the police since he was arrested for a violent street assault and accepted a caution. In recent years his regular anti-police tirades have become increasingly unhinged. No doubt the fact that he is facing two criminal trials isn’t helping.

There's a subtler point there. A regular theme in the biassed policing is "conduct liable to lead to a breach of the peace". People are being targeted for mocking or opposing groups who are liable to kick off violently, and even riot. Instead of going after the actual lawbreakers, the violent and the rioters, police are cracking down on anything these violent rioters object to. If you do or say something lawful which might provoke an unlawful action from someone else, you are the problem, not the someone else.

The two-tier policing on the trans issue is particularly egregious, with abusive, violent pro-trans activists being supported and indulged at every turn and a blind eye being turned to actual violence against women who try to defend women's rights. But we're not supposed to talk about that, because of course every trans-identifying man is a fragile marginalised flower who wouldn't hurt a fly and the abusive pervert demographic is just a figment of our imagination. Right.
