The label of the product is visible on that page. Harris 12% Hydrogen Peroxide.

It's labeled as a stain remover. Do you know what it isn't labeled as? An algaecide registered with the EPA and the Washington DC Department of Energy & Environment.
They're violating federal and DC law doing that. I'd wager those guys aren't certified pesticide applicators either, something that's required when applying pesticides to someone else's property for pay. (Pesticide regulation used to be my job.)

The arcons have been really struggling lately. Even they didn't like the war so they've been trying to blame anyone but Trump. Go figure.

But this reflecting pool thing has them really shoegazing. First they were full of bragging when the pool was refilled, then they were in serious denial claiming all shots of algae were "AI", and now they are basically saying "Well, don't you have something more important to be concerned about?!"

Just flew right by the reflecting pool on approach to DCA. Looks like this morning’s hydrogen peroxide bleaching is having an effect on the perimeter

It's because they scraped the bottom from either side of the pool yesterday. they couldn't reach the middle. it looks worse now than it did this morning

Just throw a bunch of disinfectant in there. If injecting it can cure COVID it can surely solve this. It's like medical duct tape!

I've never realized how phallic that park appears from that angle. Maybe it's just me.

Hydrogen Peroxide breaks down in sunlight. Another thing is, they're using 12% hydrogen peroxide. They'll need thousands of gallons to shock the algae into dying.

Aquatic pesticides typically have their application rate listed in acre-feet, an acre of water, 1 foot deep. The reflecting pool is 7.7 acres and an average of 2 feet deep, for 15.4 acre-feet.
The EPA pesticide database doesn't seem to be working right now (surprise), but I found two peroxide aquatic algaecide products in the NYSDEC database, where I used to work. The problem is that they aren't just hydrogen peroxide. They also contain peroxyacetic acid, a much more powerful oxidizer that's only stable in solution with hydrogen peroxide (and acetic acid; it's a compound formed from the two).
A product that's 23% hydrogen peroxide and 5% peroxyacetic acid has a listed use rate of 28.5 gallons per acre-foot, totaling a hair under 439 gallons for the reflecting pool. That's for a product significantly more powerful than what they're using. What they're using has half the peroxide, so they need at least two times that amount, and I'll be generous and just bump it to three for the lack of PAA, so let's say 1,317 gallons.

Not to mention a big stick to stir it with. Because pumping it in one end of the Reflecting Pool won't fix the middle or the other end.

...Why thank you. You've opened my eyes to a way to create hydrazine gas. Now, we just need to gather some crystals and we'll be able to fund the creation cost of various Protoss units to address the issue of the Zerg units in the White House.

I clean actual swimming pools for a living. This will not work. The reflection pool used to act much like a natural body of water with natural filtration. It would (leak) drain through the granite and new water was added. Now it’s been “sealed” with polyurethane and will no longer drain itself...

With circulation and filtration added, it will no longer be a reflecting pool. Only still water perfectly reflects. It’s ruined.
