But, I don't think there is much to worry about if the Democrats pull off a clear majority in the house or senate. Yeah, republicans may try to launch a bunch of court cases, but so far judges/juries have been one of the few functioning guard rails of US democracy. (Even as pro-republican as the supreme court has been lately, they don't always side with all of Trump's shennanigans.) What else can they do? Arrest successful candidates? Those cases will fall apart quickly. Not have them sworn in? From what I understand it doesn't necessarily have to be the vice president or speaker who swears them in, it can also be a sitting judge.

A more likely scenario is that Democrats will be seated in congress, and then Trump will just continue to act unilaterally (as he has been doing much of the time anyways), ignoring congress.

Whatever else may happen, you can take as a given that the same people who think there's something suspicions about the CA elections because they took a few days to count all the votes and decide a winner will, after the midterms, pretend for months that nothing has been decided in them. If they can't win the elections, they can (and almost certainly will) pull out all the stops to avoid admitting that they lost.

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin: "We want to make sure that every vote actually counts, that we're not having games like you might see in sanctuary cities. Democrats always want to throw out the Constitution. Well great, let's throw out the Constitution."

Some of the usual suspects fell for it when they triumphed that some 650 ballots for Pratt his been found discarded in a dumpster in San Recto. Claims were that Feds were all over the scene and the discovery was trending.

There is no San Recto in California.

Because good Christian women don't want any power over godly men, whatsoever! Their men, of course, don't want that. They want to continue to control two votes instead of one, because now good Christian woman would vote differently from what the Master tells them.

Hmmm, just a random thought:
With mail-in voting, Master can just fill out both ballots and order her to sign.
With in-person voting, who knows what she might do when alone in the booth?
We're gonna need Soviet style voting where you sign the ballot so they know who did it wrong!

Just take a leaf out of my late father's book.

He used to (illegally) go into the voting booth with mum to make sure she didn't make a mistake.

A "mistake" of course being not voting National. (Conservative)

But the President cannot spend a dime of money unless it has been appropriated by the US COngress..and all appropration bills start in the house.
A democratic congress could make things a lot tougher for DOnnie. Don't forget, he has not had any real oppostion from congress so far.

I agree, but that does change the fact the current way Califorinia runs elections sucks. It simply shoul d not take that long..
but then, I guess you are of the Democrats can do no wrong school of thought.

Oh, Jesus Christ. I read somewhere that a really large percentage of CA votes are mail-in votes (don't remember the exact percentage, but it was a pretty big one). Mail in voting requires that all those votes be properly vetted to prevent fraud- you know, the thing Republicans say they are so concerned about. So what you have is a situation where one thing the GOP complains about- the length of the process- is due to the prevention of the other thing they complain about. And what's the damn hurry anyway? I believe there's usually a delay of a few months between the election to fill an office and the actual swearing-in of the winners to take it- is there some pressing reason that results must be known right now? other than some childish inability to be patient?

And you really need to get over this weird habit you seem to have to assign people into divided absolutes, that anyone who might be mostly inclined to one side or the other must automatically think that their preferred side "can do no wrong." But then, I guess you are of the "I am the only reasonable person in the room" school of thought...
