Merged (edited) General thoughts about Christianity and the bible

Your god is a short fat bald guy with osteoarthritis (at least I do have a white beard though)? Actually that could explain a few things.

ETA (Brings to mind Mr. Natural from the old comics. My beard is not that long though)
LOL
So... you'll recognize God when you meet Him?
(everyone does)

So does the Christian God have a recognizable corporeal form?

Apparently not even in his recognisable human cosplay form since neither Mary Magdalen or the disciples recognised the risen Christ. Perhaps they were expecting a blue eyed blonde American Jesus instead of a 33CE Palistinian?

Nope! They'd shoot him at the St-Gothard Pass !
(According to a nervous young swiss priest officiating in his first mass in front of the bishop …)

Yeah, I did. But I also pointed out that it was because the cartoon version of evolution that was presented as the alternative was false. Plenty of people reconcile religion with actual evolution.
I think of religion as the cartoon version of the universe. Proponets of the Looney Tunes paradigm have not advanced past Saturday morning cereal and a fascination as to whether or not the Marvin the Martian will destroy Earth THIS TIME!

Or someone who has been married once. No replacement wife due to death or divorce.
That's the modern day Christian interpretation of it.

Interesting to note the use of the word fornication in this verse below.
An Israelite had the right to divorce a woman if he discovered that she was not a virgin on their wedding night.
But if this was not true, the parents could contest it.

So, today we allow divorce for adultery, but Jesus said the only allowance for divorce was fornication.

Matthew 5:32 KJV
But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication,
causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

You have less than zero traction outside of your cult. Just thought I'd mention.

But it's OK to screw your slaves. Genesis 16:1–16; 21:8–21

The Bible says: Six days for the creation of everything.
Evolution says: Billions of years of mutations.

The Bible says: God created man (Adam) in their own image.
Evolution says: I'm a monkey's uncle.

The Bible says: Species reproduce after their kind.
Evolution says: Species are produced by mutations.

The Bible says: God created everything for a purpose.
Evolution says: There is no meaning.

The Bible says: Intelligent design.
Evolution says: The result of an explosion.

The Bible says: God spoke the universe into being.
Evolution says: No one knows who pulled the trigger on the big bang.

The Bible says: Jesus paid the death penalty for Adam's sin and ours.
Evolution says: There was no Adam.
Another great OP, 11 pages in only 4 days!

The answer to your question is simple, just accept that the Bible was written by men who had no more insight into the subject than you. There's no need to 'square' fiction with fact.

If you find that hard to swallow then read the works of other religions such as Mormonism and Scientology. I bet you won't get far before realizing it's all made up garbage that isn't worth reading, let alone 'believing'. L. Ron Hubbard's ramblings are interesting because he was a science fiction writer who set out to create a 'fake' religion, and it shows. Yet people believed it. I'm embarrassed to say that my own government recognized Scientology as a 'legitimate' religion in 2002, giving it tax-exempt status.
