California has about 34.9 million more people than Kentucky.
California is 3.9 times larger than Kentucky.
California has 23 million registered voters. Kentucky has 3 million.

Comer on vote counting: We do it in Kentucky and we're finished in two hours. California, it takes weeks? Nobody believes that.

Because in Kentucky the votes are counted before the election.

You mean the guy that people like Sanders and other 'progressives' wanted, over a boring, old, 'mainstream' candidate like Mills?

I did warn that Mills had the advantage in that she was already largely vetted. Its risky picking a neophyte to run for your party, especially for a more visible seat like the Senate. You need more than just "he says the right things at the right time".
He's clearly got to go. The list just keeps getting longer.

Not really sure how the democrats can do that. Mills is still technically on the ballot, but switching to her, or somehow "overturning" Platner's nomination to pick someone new is going to annoy the far-left of the party. And of course, this has the side-effect of giving ammunition to ALL the republicans who will point to Platner and say "see, the democrats are a bunch of nazi women-haters". (Of course, that would be hypocritical of them, considering the current leader of the republican party is pro-fascist who was found to have committed sexual assault by a court of law, but republicans have no shame.)

All of this may not increase support for Collins, but it may cause some people to basically assume "all politicians are corrupt" and not vote at all (and non-voters will help republicans in this case.) Hopefully the democrats are going to hold enough of a lead so that whomever they pick as the candidate (Platner, Mills, or someone new) will be able to still get elected regardless of the bad publicity.

For those who haven't read the article... there are allegations that he was "rough" with some of his past girlfriends and that he was.... unsettling.

(It should be noted that one of the people making the allegations has conservative ties. It should also be noted that Platner has openly discussed some of the darker events in his life, so he has been up-front with at least some his problems.)

Unless they find a dead body in his bed, the Dems have no choice at this point but to go ahead with him. This is bad, but if there is a "blue wave" (I'm skeptical but hopeful) he may win anyway.

She also has a long history for them to smear. She is also a diet Republican.

It really speaks to the Democratic leadership's inability to read the moment and build a deep bench. They keep throwing moderates at Collins and she keeps beating them.

I think trying to subvert the popular candidate does more damage than running with a candidate with a ton of baggage.

I don't think her political affiliation should be reason to disregard her story. And "rough" in this case does NOT include physical or sexual abuse. It does seem to be emotional abuse and intimidation. I haven't read the Times article, though.

The lady openly said he never hit her in the article. He would just kind of manhandle her. I'm not defending or downplaying, just stating what's in the article.

The fact is Platner's past sucks. There seems to be more stuff coming out day after day and none of it is particularly good.

As Shemp said, if there's a blue wave he might be able to ride the wave, and coast to a win. If he gets in perhaps he's an amazing Senator and has a long political career but frankly he sounds like a ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ douchebag. I mean, he seems to manhandle women, had a huge drinking problem, cheated on his wife, and had a nazi tattoo that he allegedly knew about.

I could probably be tempted to hold my nose and vote for him but it would be tough.
