The lady openly said he never hit her in the article. He would just kind of manhandle her. I'm not defending or downplaying, just stating what's in the article.

The fact is Platner's past sucks. There seems to be more stuff coming out day after day and none of it is particularly good.

As Shemp said, if there's a blue wave he might be able to ride the wave, and coast to a win. If he gets in perhaps he's an amazing Senator and has a long political career but frankly he sounds like a ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ douchebag. I mean, he seems to manhandle women, had a huge drinking problem, cheated on his wife, and had a nazi tattoo that he allegedly new about.

I could probably be tempted to hold my nose and vote for him but it would be tough.
With that record it's a wonder Trump hasn't endorsed him.

The article I read, I think it was HuffPo, did say they interviewed other women who had great things to say about him. He was affectionate, loving, etc. It wasn't all terrible.

For those who haven't read the article... there are allegations that he was "rough" with some of his past girlfriends and that he was.... unsettling.
The main person complaining that he was rough also happens to be a long time conservative activist.

Not really sure how the democrats can do that. Mills is still technically on the ballot, but switching to her, or somehow "overturning" Platner's nomination to pick someone new is going to annoy the far-left of the party.

Ironically, those are the people I'd expect to have the biggest problem with him.

I mean, he seems to manhandle women, had a huge drinking problem, cheated on his wife, and had a nazi tattoo that he allegedly knew about.

Is he related to Hegseth?

The Democrats have gone from 67% to win the Maine Senate seat to 56% on Predictit in the last week. In the same week, they have gone from 46% to 40% on taking control of the Senate.

American Leftists: Voted for Trump? Literal Nazi.

Also American Leftists: Literal Nazi tattoo? I could vote for that.

American Leftists: Alleged violence against women? Obvious rapist pedophile sexual predator.

Unsurprisingly, you missed one important detail. You guys are so predictable.

Trump isn't an alleged sex offender, he's a proven sex offender.

I'm not even going to mention the stark difference between what may have been a Nazi tattoo and being actual masked Nazis, such as the Trump regime uses.

Edgeometer reading - 2.5.

Not bad.

NY Times columnists Michelle Goldberg, Jamelle Bouie and David French have a discussion about Platner. French (the conservative never-Trumper in the bunch):
He had a profile on an app, I think called Kik, that is known to be extremely — let’s just say it’s not the home of the best people in America, Michelle. And in his profile, he’s not wearing clothes. He’s just wearing a towel, and he’s taking the mirror picture. And guess what he’s conveniently covering up in the mirror selfie? You’ve got it: the Nazi tattoo.

Let's remember that Platner says he first learned about the Nazi origins of his tattoo in October of last year. So one of three things happened. First, he accidentally covered up the tattoo in the selfie. Second he knew about the tattoo earlier than he claimed. Or third, he put up the picture on Kik sometime after October of last year (in the last 8 months).

The reason ID is banned in California (and New York) elections is to enable large-scale fraud.

When you combine no ID and mail-in voting, fraud is de facto legalized.

Which would be appropriate. After all, Trump actually checks a lot of boxes that suggest Nazi (or at least fascist).

Anti-democratic? Check. (Tried to overturn a valid election.)
Use of violence in rising to power? Check. (pardoned the Jan6 terrorists, promised supporters in 2016 he would pay their legal bills if they got into a fight with protestors.)
Right wing? Check. (witness his extreme cuts to taxes and social programs)
Use of bigotry to establish 'scape goats'? Check. (Hatians are eating pets! Mexico is sending criminals!)

Heck, he called Neo-nazis 'fine people'. (and he did... none of this 'both sides' nonsense.)
Also American Leftists: Literal Nazi tattoo? I could vote for that.
First of all, there seems to be one main difference... Democrats are looking at Platner and many are saying "Hmmm... do we really want this guy?" On the other hand, Trump calls neo-nazis "fine people" and had dinner with a holocaust denier and have no reservations about supporting him.

Secondly, lets look at the possibilities.

He could actually be a nazi sympathizer/supporter, which is bad. He might have had those beliefs in the past but no longer feels that way. He could have gotten the tatoo to be "edgy" without actually holding nazi beliefs. (A douche move, but not as bad as being an actual nazi supporter.) He might have been honest when he claims he didn't know the tatoo had associations with the nazis.

On the other hand, consider the alternative... Susan Collins. She "claims" to be a moderate, but at the end of the day, more than 9 times out of 10, she supports Trump. (That includes confirming Drunky McRapeface to the supreme court and Tax cuts that mostly benefit millionaires.)

So the 2 options... vote collins/republican and get someone who absolutely supports fascism, or vote platner and get someone who at WORST would exhibit fascist beliefs, but for whom there are alternative explanations are not a problem.
American Leftists: Alleged violence against women? Obvious rapist pedophile sexual predator.
As another poster pointed out, the 'alleged violence against women' is more than just 'alleged'. It was part of a court ruling that it happened.
Also American Leftists: Alleged violence against women? I could vote for that.
I am not excusing what Platner is alleged to have done.

But, 2 things have to be kept in mind:
- At this point, there is less evidence for platner being "abusive" against women than there is against Trump's abusive behavior
- If the allegations are true, Platner was definitely in the wrong. But compare that to what Trump has done... Rough handling by platner (which never rose to the level of hitting, according to claims), vs. actual sexual assault against E Jean Caroll, plus claims from the epstein files that Trump sexually assaulted an underage girl, plus comments from Trump that hinted that he knew of Epsteins activities. Its kind of like comparing Jay Walking with a serial killer... both of them are "breaking the law", but one is a bit more serious than the other.

And again... if someone votes republican/for collins, they are voting for someone who is supporting a sexual abuser and who continues to be abusive.

And there it is.

After 5 days of statistically impossible ballot drops, Nithya Raman has pulled ahead of Spencer Pratt.

The DOJ needs to keep investigating

This can’t be allowed to keep happening in America.

California’s third world “election systems” need to be banned

The US gov sends billions to California to subsidize their failed policies. It is time we STOP until they clean up their shady election process

I am completely mystified at what these people think. It's ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ LA, and California. People there don't vote GOP in any meaningful numbers.

Look at the way the GOP is treating people, especially the Hispanic community, and they think people are going to want a ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ Republican in charge. Are they just being disingenuous? Did they actually expect a Republican to gain traction when they're deporting innocent people, shooting Americans and making a complete and total ass out of the US on the global stage? Sweet Baby J the ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ stupidity burns.

Given that most MAGA would have trouble understanding how many people live in LA county alone:

Los Angeles County is the most populous county in the United States, with an estimated 9.69 million to 9.81 million residents as of 2024–2025. Its population exceeds that of 40 individual U.S. states, meaning it ranks higher than 80% of the states if it were an independent entity.

If Los Angeles County were a state, it would rank 11th in national population, trailing only California, Texas, Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Ohio, Georgia, North Carolina, and Michigan. Despite its massive population, which accounts for roughly 24.6% of California’s total, it holds no more political representation (two U.S. Senators) than the smallest states

This might help them. But I doubt it. Though the map includes GA, NC and MI as having less pop than LA County.
