Nope, those alt right rednecks know all about AGW, how can they not? They just prefer a paycheck from an industry that allows wealthy international commies to fly first class so they can take photos of starving Cubans for internet ass pats.

Then there's these guys

Big Indian (feather, not curry) has entered the chat.
Well if they’re anything like my Right-voting friends in Australia, it’s because the pollies that they back and believe in, tell them to.

Just before the last Aus federal election a friend “came out” as a climate change denier.
Why? Because, the idiot leader of his preferred party went Claytons Trump on an anti-renewables and anti-climate change campaign. Argument being that Australia's extreme weather events, such as droughts, floods, and bushfires, are a natural part of the country's long, historical cycle rather than strictly being the result of modern climate change

Oh, the party lost and he became the first federal opposition leader to lose his seat in the entire political history of Australia. Perhaps there’s hope here that Aussies won’t lose that perspicaciousness come the next federal election.

After that resounding defeat in the Federal election, his dear leader then partially recanted and declared that climate change was probably real, but not caused by humans.

Next time I was having a drink with my friend, he then declared he did believe in climate change, just not AGW.

Having had a dinner with like-minded political views, I found that to question your party’s dogma was akin to religious heresy. These types were confused as hell (in fact aghast at my apostasy) when I disagreed with one of the policies put forwarded by the (then) state’s Premier, whom I had voted for.

Oh, and I’m totally agreed that it’s not just the Right that regard deviation from the party line as heresy.
It is a disappointingly common trait.

I can't say I've ever engaged an IRL climate denier. Most people are content to let this issue quietly run in the background and tend to work around it. I could beak off about how I'm replacing gas powered yard tools with battery electric ones in an effort to save the planet but, truth be known, I'm really doing it because I'm sick of dealing with motors.

I'll suck it up and plan around the reduced run time over trying to get something started that doesn't want start. I'm looking at you, pressure washer and that new electric one, didn't try to kill me with carbon monoxide fumes when I used it in an underground parking lot two days ago.

It's hard to find real conservatives in this urban environment. I know people who are conservative on certain issues e.g. religious objections to abortion, but nowhere in there am I seeing any climate change denial.

Maybe they keep those cards closer to the chest?

I was somewhat surprised to see that only 48% of Americans accept AGW and that the number of people who do is actually decreasing.

The Republican Party does what it does with no regard for truth or eye for the future, after all.

Personally, I'm friend to multiple Republicans who have tried to deny AGW when it's come up. Especially the Tea Party one who regularly visits such enlightening "news" sources as Zerohedge and American Thinker. Not all Republicans I know are like that, thankfully, but for too many of them... well, if it's a topic touched by Republican propaganda, their ability to engage in even basic critical thinking seems to vanish.

With that said, generally speaking, people who live in urban areas tend to accept AGW, while rural people tend to be much less likely to do so. There are reasons for that, of course, but ones that aren't immediately relevant. Hence, there's honestly no immediate reason to doubt Stout when he produced an anecdote as he speaks of his personal experience in an urban area, especially given the fact that he stated that his sample size was quite small.

...Not all Republicans...

At 52% doubters, they're not all Republicans and given the percentage of people living in cities vs rural, I can only presume one wouldn't meet deniers if they live in a very liberal area, or don't go outside their echo chamber.

There is reason enough to doubt whatever fairy tale Stout hallucinates.

I wasn't aware that "an industry ... allows wealthy international commies to fly first class so they can take photos of starving Cubans for internet ass pats," but it makes me wonder if the proportion of CO2 those commies emit is significant enough to have been calculated and reported. Do you have a link?
I'm also not sure why an industry would consider forbidding air travel for wealthy international commies.
Or is it taking photos of starving Cubans and posting them on the internet that the industry shouldn't allow?
Or do you find it inappropriate to document on the internet what the U.S. blockade does to Cuba?
And could you please post a link to those photos.

How the US Government is Quietly Starving Cubans With Its New Blockade (IBW21st and I Never Knew Tv on YouTube, Feb 23, 2026 – 13 min.)
In this powerful clip from the Institute of the Black World 21st Century’s (IBW21) recent Pan African Unity Dialogue (PAUD), renowned presenter James Early breaks down the historical and spiritual bond between Cuba and the African continent.
As the U.S. ramps up economic warfare, Cuba is facing a devastating food crisis. James Early explains the mechanics of the recent embargo and why this isn't just a political dispute, it's a direct threat to the survival of the Cuban people.
In this video, you’ll learn:
The true history of Cuba-Africa relations.
How the modern U.S. embargo creates "food havoc".
What Pan-African unity looks like in the 21st century.

However, I'd recommend posting about this issue in the thread about the U.S. blockade of Cuba.

You shouldn't be!
For the past 50 years, Big Oil has been running a very successful campaign:
Big Oil’s Big History of Blocking Climate Action (InfluenceMap.org, Oct 26, 2021)
An analysis of Big Oil's digital advertising strategy showed that the sector's Facebook ads designed to prolong the use of fossil fuels were viewed at least 431 million times during 2020. Many of these ads contained misleading content or information that was misaligned with the science of climate change.
Science literacy in general is dwindling in the USA. Case in point:
"The only country where acceptance of evolution was lower than in the United States was Turkey (25%)." (Wikipedia)
In the early 2010s, all the teachers from my high school were on an excursion to Istanbul where we visited institutions of education. I don't think it will be long before they overtake the U.S.
Level of support for evolution: Public support:Turkey (Wikipedia)
In 2009, Ömer Ziya Cebeci, then vice president of the Turkish government agency Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), publisher of the popular Turkish science magazine Bilim ve Teknik (Science and Technology), ordered the removal of a cover story about the life and work of Charles Darwin from the March 2009 issue of the magazine just before it went to press. The event caused widespread protests across the country and calls for Cebeci to resign. Cebeci was removed from his position in 2011, and a court in 2013 ruled that Cebeci had unlawfully dismissed the editor of Bilim ve Teknik from her position.
Ömer Ziya Cebec should apply as adviser to the Trump administration. Maybe Dr. Oz can facilitate it.

Turkey has even understood that coal isn't clean and beautiful!

Republicans pretty much were what was in question, though, in that situation. If you want to go into the larger dynamics of who and why for climate doubt, there's obviously much more to the story.

For example, "52% doubters" leaves out a lot of useful information. To poke at a couple of the other highlights listed in your article -

The latest data shows 22% of people believe the warming of the Earth is due to natural climate patterns, 17% say they aren't sure what's causing it and 12% say they don't think there's solid evidence the Earth is warming at all.
Most Democrats (75%) who responded to the Pew survey said climate change is the result of human activity, while Republicans had much more varied views: 21% said it was because of human activity, 37% said it was a naturally occurring phenomena, 19% said they aren't sure and 23% don't think evidence supports the warming of the Earth.
The Pew survey also found that the more educated a person was, the more likely they were to believe climate change is the fault of humans—62% of people with post-graduate college education believe humans are causing the Earth to warm, while only 56% of college graduates felt the same, 45% of people with some college education believe it and only 40% of people with high school diplomas or less education think humans are at fault.
The majority of Americans (68%) do concede that extreme weather events are happening more often in the U.S., though Democrats (85%) are almost twice as likely to believe it than Republicans.

To add a couple more articles to add supplementary information, just because -

The GOP has transitioned from climate denial to climate misrepresentation, experts say
Why denying the science of climate change is no longer politically tenable.

And

Nearly 15% of Americans deny climate change, study finds
Public figures such as Trump play outsized role in influencing beliefs

Now with all those things poked at, I think that it's well worth raising the points that Republican stances and propaganda on climate change has long been driven by the fossil fuel industry, that media influence doesn't occur in a vacuum, and that Republican propaganda tends to reach virtually all Americans (and lots of people outside the US). Undoubtedly, it's most effective on Republicans, but that doesn't negate how it affects everyone else, too. Republicans and the fossil fuel industry have long been and still are the main drivers for doubt, by far. Democrats as a whole are not immune to their efforts or completely innocent of similar, certainly, but that doesn't change the overall story of what's happened and is happening on the AGW doubt front.

There is reason enough to doubt whatever fairy tale Stout hallucinates.

Sure. In this case, though, the claim in question was a very small anecdote that dealt with a very small number of people in a setting where it would be quite unsurprising for there to be a notably larger subset than that of people like that. There's very strong reason to dispute any attempt to generalize it to larger populations, yes, but not to dispute the claim itself without some rather personal information that we normally will not have.

Its easy
working stiffs work in an industry that brings fossil fuels out of the ground and moves them around
other working stiffs make it into jet fuel
that yummy yummy jet fuel is gobbled up by hungry communists
to fly to the communist paradise of cuba
the rest is easily searchable online.
see how easy that was.

As as for instance...I've never had a Christian claim that only God can influence the climate, like we used to see online a few years ago

Last fall I did a presentation about replacing the gas furnace in our condo HVAC system with a heat pump to cut our carbon footprint. Our government made us spend $3000 on an Electrical Planning Report, in part to deal with issues like this and that report shows we have more than enough electrical capacity to do this. Everything we need is pretty much in place and all it'll take is another $25K to replace the existing failed heat pump(s) that were used for another purpose, run the collant lines up the outside of the building, pierce the envelope and replace the furnace.

The project never got off the ground, no doubt in part to having to spend $80K on an elevator update but now I realize I should have dome the presentation in the middle of summer, during a heatwave and marketed the idea as supplying air conditioning to common building spaces.

We're all on 100% renewal electricity here, have been on for decades, so the use of airconditioners in individual units doesn't factor into the whole climate aspect.

Unfortunately, the gas fired boiler is only 5 years old, so replacing that is going to have to wait until after I've sold the HVAC furnace conversion.

It's always easy when you skip the difficult parts and don't answer a single question.

Like I said, Canadian politicians are great at writing down big numbers on pieces of paper but when push comes to shove, it's lifestyle that constantly beats eco-complaining because...eco complaining is free. :)

Then there's this

Are you ready for it Canada?

So far my government has made me stop using plastic shopping bags, single use plastic take out containers and straws, built hundreds of kilometres of bike lanes...yet global emissions continue to increase.

Perhaps you should eat less beans?

Good news, everybody!

The current El Nino is likely to be the strongest recorded, according to the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts. Combined with the highest base temperature known to mankind, this could be a fun next 12 months.

All roads with Carney seem to lead to oil and gas. Btw, this document, obtained through the FOI process, was prepared for the clerk of the Privy Council, one of Carney's top advisers.

But a top advisory body to Carney’s Liberal government has also quietly identified another policy goal that wasn’t mentioned in the hotly anticipated “AI for All” road map. One of the top “public policy benefits to Canada” of constructing a national network of data centres is creating new markets for Canadian natural gas producers. An internal Privy Council document from 2025 explained that the build-out of vast electricity-consuming data centres across the country can “provide markets for Canadian energy” and lead to “net new energy resources.”

Federal Adviser Says Data Centres ‘Provide Markets’ for Gas (The Tyee, June 11, 2026)
The artificial intelligence strategy announced by Prime Minister Mark Carney in early June promised to create hundreds of thousands of new jobs, boost Canadian productivity and help domestic AI companies, with “a clear goal of improving the lives of all Canadians,” according to the prime minister.

That's Alberta. Any of the lesser provinces are more that welcome to build their data centers using girly vegan wind and solar.
