Does 'rape culture' accurately describe (many) societies?

I guess it all depends on how you define 'natural'.

You made a judgement here about the 'natural' habit of some:

(* material that Barnardo's described as rife on mainstream porn sites - often described as barely legal)
And?

This conversation is ridiculous. Societies don't collapse over promiscuity or absentee parents. This is a claim that Poem makes without evidence. He just assumes you will accept his nonsense.

Societies as they were previously known might change. But there is no evidence they will collapse. Maybe congregations will collapse. Probably will when people realize that all these awful morals foisted on them through generational transference and religious values were based entirely on bronze age superstitions.

But I would argue that porn has nothing to do with the congregations collapsing. More the simple understanding that their books are jam packed with lies.

You think sex is something special and precious in the context of a couple who want to be monogamous do you not? Or have I misunderstood you?
You have, of course, misunderstood me.

If sex is nothing special, then humanity is objectively sexually free and no one should dare mention monogamy.
Non sequitur. The second clause does not follow from the first.

A functioning society needs the traditional family unit. No it doesn't have to be 100% traditional - but making a child and bringing that child up generally needs a stable woman / man relationship. Porn is a threat to that.

Do you agree?
No.

Are you therefore affirming that demanding monogamy from one's partner is unreasonable?
Yes.

I guess it all depends on how you define 'natural'.
How do you define it?

Six months ago I asked:
The current situation is that the porn that was described in your quotation is illegal, it is prosecuted when cases can be made, people go to prison. I can't think how clearer as a society we can be that we find such porn not only wrong but abhorrent.
Why is it abhorrent?
You didn't reply, so I'll ask again - why is it abhorrent? You have said:
All human behaviours are natural.
That means that what you find abhorrent is also what you would describe as natural. It is also worth restating that such content is legal to watch and produce in the USA (Ashcroft verses FSC).

Reality: we as a society continue to watch this content - it remains extremely popular and is legally produced in the USA.

You seem to be - as Lithrael pointed out - thinking that just because something is natural it should be considered good: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appeal_to_nature There are many, many natural things which are bad, abhorrent, undesirable and so on.

One of the those human behaviours that is abhorrent these days and in my opinion is any adult sexual activity involving children and in my society we consider those 16 and under to be children (some laws define children as those under 18) when it comes to sexual activity.

If you want to go even deeper into my beliefs as to why I consider such things abhorrent it starts with an axiom of bodily autonomy being good.

100% - there is nothing else they could be.
You forgot nurture? - as in, adult society has been showing a generation of kids anything goes porn, including content that looks like children having sex with adults and other kids?

Nurture is a human behaviour.
But is nevertheless distinct from nature. Children shown rule 34 porn will be distinct from those that aren't. We absolutely do know that some kids are acting out the content they are watching.

This should be a huge scandal.

I'm still unclear what it is about the porn we are discussing that you find abhorrent. Millions of people around the world are consuming it as we speak. The USA legally produces it.

All porn is abhorrent because it is redefining the essence of relationships and blurring red lines - which is negatively impacting on society. That is nurture. Without male / female relationships being the norm, humanity faces a real existential threat. Evolutionary biology dictates that such relationships have been the norm.

No children are involved in the porn we are talking about - so how does the above answer what I am asking you?

Okay.

That link does not work.
You are having trouble answering because you'll be forced to admit that porn is influencing human behaviour negatively - and that that isn't limited to the porn we have been discussing.

You don't want to admit the 'nurture' part do you?

with no hedging whatsoever I will gladly say the existence/availability of legal porn is having a tiny fraction of the negative impact on kids compared to ◊◊◊◊ like antisocial tiktok challenges are having on kids. Both situations could stand to be improved but I can't really fathom making a hard stand on something like porn unless you're also stumping hard against the algorithm leading kids to train each other to be nasty little ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ for engagement. Maybe you are and I just haven't heard about it.

Genuinely abhorrent porn is already fully illegal. The stuff you don't go to jail for I may not like but it doesn't get me up in arms.

Correct me if I'm wrong but IIRC the 'rife with abhorrent porn' list was about search term keywords; the actual content of the videos that were tagged with the abhorrent sounding terms was not checked or discussed. Which makes it seem to me that all they proved is that a lot of the people adding such tags think that those terms will get them the clicks they want.

Trouble answering what?

Trouble answering what?
Why is porn that portrays adult actors as children abhorrent? Do you think it's because is encourages paedophilia? Normalises sex with adults for kids?

What exactly?

It doesn't encourage pedophilia. It does nothing that you say it does. It is harmless cosplay.

Porn compared to either the Bible or the Quran is significantly less harmful. I'd be far more in favor of banning either of these well distributed books than 90+% of the pornography available.

Well Poem old gal, it's mucho plenty apparent that some people do things that you don't like:
certain kinds of porn. It's also clear that you want your government (maybe other govts?) to
put a stop to what you don't like.

Now: How would you have it done? What institutions would you change or create? What laws
would you want to be enacted? How would those laws read? The actual language, if you
please, because that's crucial: laws can only exist if they're written and can be read.

At this stage in your campaign, it would be a useful exercise -- useful for you -- to draft
your desired legislation as clearly and completely as you can. Please try. Write formally,
employing legal terminology, as if you were law clerk to a powerful committee of politicians
who might include your proposals in real legislation.

But then will you present your desired law here on the forum?
I won't say that I doubt you will.
