Ed Israel/US Attacks Iran /Yet Another Country/Iran

I've never really understood the need for diplomacy till I saw Trump at work. It's an art that goes back historically to the dawn of history.
As Ambassador Wyler said
Diplomacy never works. It never ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ works. Diplomacy is days and nights in a Vienna hotel room, listening to the same empty talking points. Getting trashed at the minibar. It’s getting to “no” over, and over, and over. The answer will be “no,” so don’t stop when you hear it. You can ask me to leave the room. That’ll take it up a level. Then mention the fact that I was sent here as an insult to both of you, but maybe you rise above it. Diplomacy never works.

Until it does.

....Talk to everyone. Talk to the dictator, and the war criminal. Talk to the poor schmuck three levels down who’s so pissed he has to sit in the back of the second car, he may be ready to turn. Talk to terrorists. Talk to everyone. Fail, and fail again. And brush yourself off. And fail again. Because maybe… Maybe.
The truth is even after you have won the war (if you have), you need to make peace.

Iran are helping the USA by blockading the Straits
No more Mr Nice guy?
More war.

Iran decided to fire bullets yesterday in the Strait of Hormuz A Total Violation of our Ceasefire Agreement! Many of them were aimed at a French Ship, and a Freighter from the United Kingdom. That wasn't nice, was it? My Representatives are going to Islamabad, Pakistan They will be there tomorrow evening, for Negotiations. Iran recently announced that they were closing the Strait, which is strange, because our BLOCKADE has already closed it. They're helping us without knowing, and they are the ones that lose with the closed passage, $500 Million Dollars a day! The United States loses nothing. In fact, many Ships are headed, right now, to the U.S., Texas, Louisiana, and Alaska, to load up, compliments of the IRGC, always wanting to be "the tough guy!" We're offering a very fair and reasonable DEAL, and I hope they take it because, if they don't, the United States is going to knock out every single Power Plant, and every single Bridge, in Iran. NO MORE MR. NICE GUY! They'll come down fast, they'll come down easy and, if they don't take the DEAL, it will be my Honor to do what has to be done, which should have been done to Iran, by other Presidents, for the last 47 years. IT'S TIME FOR THE IRAN KILLING MACHINE TO END! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Mike Waltz: "The president will move up an escalation ladder responsibly, as our amazing military will follow those orders with him as the commander in chief, until Iran comes to the table."

Mike Waltz on Trump's latest threat to blow up Iran's civilian infrastructure: "Everything is on the table, and the president has made it very clear he's prepared to escalate to deescalate this conflict, as he should be ... we have a long history of taking down bridges, power plants, and other infrastructure"

So Japan is building 4 Mogami class frigates and 12 updated Mogami class, with Australia is in late stages to build 11 of the updated versions

Australia has also ordered 3 Hunter class frigates, so that's 16 frigates in the Pacific.
26 not 16. Silly typo

Trump's problem is he has no patience. Negotiating isn't weak. He has made his point about what the US can do. Now he needs to pull back, rearm, refortify, the threat remains. At this point continued war is counterproductive. It will crash the world economy, civilian casualties in Iran will escalate because you have hit the main military targets, so only civilian infrastructure is left. You will cause a refugee crisis across the middle east and asia and Europe. Increase the risks of Shia militia action in Iraq.

The problem is he wants a quick solution, but sometimes that takes time.

The worry remains that at some point his desire to escalate and threaten, and his obsession with Iranian nuclear weapons will lead to him threatening if not using nuclear weapons.

I found this inciteful comment in a military assessment of failures in the vietnam war. It proves that those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

Prior to any future commitment of US military forces our military leaders must insist that the civilian leadership provide tangible, obtainable political goals. The political objective cannot be merely a platitude, but must be stated in concrete terms. While such objectives may very well change during the course of the war, it is essential that we begin with an understanding of where we intend to go. As Clausewitz said, we should not "take the first step without considering the last."' In other words, we (and perhaps more important, the American people) need to have a definition of "victory." This victory need not be a total destruction of the enemy or the complete conquest of his territory. It need only be the attainment of a political goal that prompted our involvement,

Donald says it's all over, Iran are signing the agreement

Trump to Fox News:

They tried to go back on the deal but caved. He says the negotiations have been agreed to. He said he is expecting Iran to sign an agreement tomorrow night in Pakistan and that all items have now been negotiated

Fox correspondent: "I spoke with President Trump this morning who said if the Iranians don't sign the deal, their whole country is going to get blown up. He said, 'We're preparing to hi them harder than any country has ever been hit before.'"
