General UK politics VIII - The Last Tory

Now why would staff coming into contact with multiple people who have infectious diseases often get sick? I also wonder if working a night shift in A&Enon a Friday or Saturday night might be a bit stressful.
Massive overtime worked due to understaffing is also a cause of stress leading to sickness.

Soldiers can’t strike. The police can’t strike.

Neither should doctors.

The next Conservative government will ban these strikes, for good

I can't remember ever working on a ward or in a community service which had a full staff complement (per locally and nationally agreed criteria, but not in certain cases taking account of rural areas and geography and consequent travelling time).

Problems with staffing levels were known and protested all through my time and beyond.

Today's Gammon outrage
Labour will give your ancestors graves to Muslims

The proposal is for graves over 100 years old rather than the current 75 years to be reused, families would have a year to appeal and then that delays it for another 25 years. But don't let that get in the way of spreading a bit more hate

David Lammy and Labour are passing a law which means that existing graves can be exhumed and the bodies cremated so that they can be re-used by others.

So who benefits from this - the religion that insists on burials and no cremations?🤔🤔🤔

NHS staff took 28m sick days incl 8m for mental health in 2025:

Keen to hear from other businesses whose staff take:

Average 19 days sickness pa
Including:
5 days mental health issues pa

Another factor, which was true in my day and I would expect still pertains, is that GPs are incredibly, to the point of refusal, reluctant to label injury or illness as wprk-related, even when it is incredibly obvious.

And then we get on to the sheer uselessness of - mostly contracted out - occupational health departments in the NHS.

Reform UK has been cold calling people asking them to become “paper” candidates for the party at the local elections, as parties dash to sign up enough names before Thursday’s deadline.

Nigel Farage’s party has been ringing members of the public asking them to stand despite apparently knowing very little about them except that they have signed up for Reform’s email updates.

Those who have been asked to stand include members of other parties and even a Guardian journalist, who was asked in a call last week: “Will you come in to become a paper candidate today and help us to win the election?” The caller added: “Just have your name on the ballot and maybe you will actually win the election.”

But...but...but...Aren't Reform and The Shallow One, the member for Innsmouth, the most popular thing since the last most popular things and going to the next everything?

I saw this on the BBC:
I'm sure all those people calling for the government to ban West will praise them for taking action, right after hell open's its skating rink.

Some young berk was complaining about this on R4 earlier, saying that the government shouldn't decide which music folk can listen to...

Well, young man, they aren't. You can still stream, buy CDs, whatever of Mr West's ouevre as much as you want; you just can't see him at Wireless, 'cos he's an offensive, nasty ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊.

I can't go see Radiohead live for many reasons, but I can still play In Rainbows (like I am now); I can't -per the Music thread - go see JS Bach or Miles Davis, but I play their music often enough.
