Ed Israel/US Attacks Iran /Yet Another Country/Iran

Maybe some of them will see the absurdity of it and start asking themselves difficult questions. Maybe.

Nah. Just turn on Fox or go to Facebook and get another helping.

I bet most of them believe little Donny's chirping today that he's killed most of Iran's leadership in the latest attacks.

Ignorance is strength.

Huge mistake. As I said before, we didn't move on Iran back in 2005/2006 when they were killing our guys in Iraq precisely for the reasons we're seeing come into play now with Iranian retaliation. We've dealt with Iran quietly for over 45 years with sanctions, and covert action. Some at Langley and in the US Senate have pushed for more aggressive covert action, but the Middle East is a complex place where we have to consider Saudi, Jordanian, Egyptian, Turkish, UAE, and other interests with each move we've made. Nixon screwed us with the Petrodollar, and even though we are oil-independent it has not relieved us of our responsibilities in the region.

In short: We're screwed.

So we've tried to do the dance in the Middle East, but 9-11 sent us off to Crazy-Town, and for reasons beyond rational thought, Americans returned Trump to the White House. The United States is now run by some of the stupidest, corrupt people in human history. And I have no idea how this all ends.
Dangerous part of this is that the Iranian leadership..no matter what some posters here say,,,,is also batcrap crazy.

Actually for Iran to stage a terorrist attack on the United States would be the worst move then can make. It would chill a lot of the antiwar sentiment in the US.

I don't think anyone actually doubts that.

There are lots of batcrap crazy regimes on the planet. Israel, USA, Russia, Belarus, Sudan, Libya, Saudi Arabia... pretty long list.

I won;t name names because that woule get me in trouble with the mods, but one poster here is pretty much 100% supporting Iran.

I'm pretty comfortable with someone supporting a nation that was actively involved in peaceful negotiations, then during which, was subjected to a cowardly sneak attack by two countries.

How...is the Iranian Regime ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ crazy?
For starters, it's unclear that there even is still a sufficiently unified and organized command structure that would be in a position to negotiate for the entire regime.
Secondly, it would be ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ crazy to trust a word of a US Negotiator, as they have used negotiations repeatedly for sneak attacks and have gone back on deals with Iran - and that's just the recent US-Iran history.

Would you negotiate with Trump?

Why would it be a 'terrorist' attack? Surely in the midst of a war initiated by the US it would just be an attack? Like firing a cruise missile and blowing up a primary school and a hundred children was just an attack, or the habit of double tapping to target rescue workers, or blowing up health facilities or industrial plants.

The problem is the the US / Israel deliberately assassinated the leadership that weren't ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ crazy, the ones that did negotiate with the outside world and come to deals. At the moment it would be difficult to get a coherent consensus for peace because Israel would target anyone who tried to do so.

Trump can stop at anytime; he said so.

By targeting the political leadership Trump may have strengthened the military hold; I worry that Iran will be left as a military dictatorship, but the US has always favoured military dictatorships over democracies. (Accepting that in recent times the democratic system in Iran has been ineffective, but I would have had a policy of strengthening the democratic process not destroying it.

This is getting desperate locking up relatives of long dead enemy generals.

No freedom of speech in the uS unless you support the party line.

ETA It is worth remembering that Soleimani was assassinated in Iraq having been invited in to Iraq by the Iraqi government as part of peace negotiations. Another example of the uS using peace negotiations to wage war and commit assassinations.

This may be false news,

Narjes Soleimani, daughter of the late Iranian General Qasem Soleimani, has denied that the two individuals arrested in the US are related to the family, in a letter published by the pro-reform Jamaran. She said "none” of Soleimani’s family or relatives has ever lived in the US.

The denial is on the X site of the BBC's senior Persian reporter so is likely well sourced.
The claim is on the X site of the US Secretary of State, so is likely based on faulty intelligence, (based on the usual ICE claims), with some one with the same name being detained.
Until recently, Hamideh Soleimani Afshar and her daughter were green card holders living lavishly in the United States.Afshar is the niece of deceased Iranian Major General Qasem Soleimani. She is also an outspoken supporter of the Iranian regime who celebrated attacks on Americans and referred to our country as the "Great Satan."This week, I terminated both Afshar and her daughter's legal status and they are now in ICE custody, pending removal from the United States. The Trump Administration will not allow our country to become a home for foreign nationals who support anti-American terrorist regimes.

No thanks to Trump and Hegseth putting them unnecessarily in danger.
Praising them would be like thanking someone for not fully drowning you.

Must be hard to keep up for the trumpkins these days, and probably easy to accidentally say the wrong thing. Is Drumpf currently backing out of Iran? Is he invading after all? I can imagine them praising him for pulling out for then to have to do a 180 (again) and support him for planning a ground invasion. Maybe some of them will see the absurdity of it and start asking themselves difficult questions. Maybe.
To your last couple of sentences, I think there is more chance of a long haired hippy, dress wearing bod reappearing.
