Ed Israel/US Attacks Iran /Yet Another Country/Iran

US arrests relatives of deceased Iranian general Qasem Soleimani

The niece and grand-niece of the deceased commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, Gen Qasem Soleimani, have been arrested, the State Department has said.

Hamideh Soleimani Afshar and her daughter's lawful US permanent resident status was revoked by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, a statement released on Saturday said.

In a post on social media, Rubio said the two women were in the custody of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), pending removal from the country.
This is getting desperate locking up relatives of long dead enemy generals.

The statement also added that Soleimani Afshar had promoted "Iranian regime propaganda" on her social media account.
No freedom of speech in the uS unless you support the party line.

ETA It is worth remembering that Soleimani was assassinated in Iraq having been invited in to Iraq by the Iraqi government as part of peace negotiations. Another example of the uS using peace negotiations to wage war and commit assassinations.

This is just propaganda.

I pity the poor guys - that's all they have left.

It's like what it must have been in spring of 1945 - relentless propaganda about a war already lost.

(It also neatly deflects from Irael's genocide)

The United States is now run by some of the stupidest, corrupt people in human history. And I have no idea how this all ends.

FTFY

There have been worse regimes*, but none as outright brainless.

*Trump is trying to catch up fast. One lesson he did learn is that more people recognise the name Hitler than recognise Eisenhower.

So much winning!

If winning counts as driving one's staunchest allies directly into Xi's arms, the winning has only just started: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-04-04/philippines-south-east-asia-gas-crisis/106530030

And let's face it, no matter how many kids die in these wars, the net effect could well be a positive.

The world is turning its back on America and forging its own, far more liberal and sensible path.

Authoritarian governments are struggling. 2, 3

Netanyahu et al will be arrested and tried for crimes against humanity if they step foot in any country with a modicum of decency. He has ensured his country will be pariah for the next thousand years and even US political heavyweights are calling for a cease to providing the guns they murder children with.

Renewable energy is skyrocketing. That alone could save millions of lives as people recognise the futility of petrochemicals.

Trump may be so stupid and revolting that he could well drive AOC's presidency. The anti-vax sector of his government would cost more lives than the war if RFK Jr remained in power for any length of time.

Is Donald going to reign(sic) down hell on Iran before or after they've rescued the missing pilot?

I don't think the Iranian regime is in the least bit happy right now.

What I find peculiar about your assessment is that you treat suicide attacks as if everyone involved is willing to commit suicide. And they aren't. Islamic extremists all use suicide attacks as a tactic, sure, but it's a task for their foot soldiers. It isn't a task for the leadership. The leadership never engage in suicide attacks themselves. I have my own thoughts about why (namely, martyrdom is a way for low status males to achieve status, if you're already high status there's no point), but ultimately the why doesn't matter, it's enough to note that they don't do it. Which means they don't want to do it, because there's no other impediment to them doing it other than desire.

So when we're taking out the Iranian regime upper leadership in precision strikes, that isn't at all the same as them sacrificing pawns in their own suicide attacks, or even sacrificing their own civilians as shields. It's not supposed to work that way. This is absolutely not the model of war they wanted.
They aren't happen but noone's happy. Even Trump is getting bored with this now.

What I appreciate about this post is that although it is wildly delusional, it is also concise. A lot of delusional people ramble on incessantly but this post gets right to the point and really packs in an impressive amount of delusion in a short amount of time.

Well done.
It’s like the espresso of delusion. A good jolt of that every morning really helps kick start the day.

Just seen this making the same point.

Of course! I like the phrase that the French general Yakovleff used, that being invited to the war is like being offered cheap tickets to the Titanic after it has hit the iceberg.

Lindsey Graham
@LindseyGrahamSC
I just had a great conversation with @POTUS. I totally support his ultimatum to the Iranian regime [...]

Choose wisely
Choose wisely because Trump won't.

What has the regime got to lose? They're going to make you do it. Are you ready for the consequences? I mean, sure, the body count will be 99% one way but are you ready for the other 1%?

This is just propaganda.

The Ayatollahs opposed WMD. They were clear that it was incompatible with Islam. They forbade the development or use of nerve gas in response to the mass Iraqi use of nerve gas, including attacking civilian targets, although the army wanted to respond in kind. They forbade the manufacture or use of nuclear weapons which the army wanted to deploy. The reality is if Iran had wanted nuclear weapons they could have made them decades ago. What Iran wanted was the ambiguity of being able to develop a bomb if pushed to; they wanted a Schroedinger's bomb if you want.

Shia Islam is no more a death cult than Christianity. Shia Islam did not originate suicide bombing. The circumstances justifying a suicide attack within Hezbollah (a Shia resistance movement) was given by Muhammad Hussein Fadalallah, a spiritual guide of Hezbollah, ‘We believe that suicide operations should only be carried out if they can bring about a political change in proportion to the passions that incite a person to make his body an explosive bomb.’ The justification is primarily political not religious. There are well attested condemnations of suicide within Islam, suicide is in itself not virtuous, but the circumstances may justify the death so that it is not a sin. the same justification can be found in Christian theology, that one can sacrifice ones own life to save others, and that doing so is not the mortal sin, that suicide would otherwise be.
The originators of modern suicide bomber tactics are the LTTE, the Tamil Tigers, a hindu resistance group in Sri Lanka.

Suicide attacks have a long history, definitely predating islam or christianity.

Must be hard to keep up for the trumpkins these days, and probably easy to accidentally say the wrong thing. Is Drumpf currently backing out of Iran? Is he invading after all? I can imagine them praising him for pulling out for then to have to do a 180 (again) and support him for planning a ground invasion. Maybe some of them will see the absurdity of it and start asking themselves difficult questions. Maybe.
