Ed Israel/US Attacks Iran /Yet Another Country/Iran

 I don't understand what you're trying to say here. Are you using a technical meaning of armoured as opposed to the colloquial "has strong stuff on the exterior that protects the interior from really fast moving and explody things"
You should read up on naval developments. Andy is more knowledgeable. But as an amateur sailor and Hornblower / Aubrey fan. I can say modern naval vessels with the exception of the new Trump class battleships are less armoured than merchant ships. When convoying through Hormuz during the last military action, tankers went in front of frigates because their double hull meant they were less vulnerable to mines than warships.

HMS Ulysses was my first naval novel. A great novel.

I was privileged to meet and hear from some one who was at Dunkirk. As a 14 yr old (the comment about Iran using child soldiers brought this to mind), he was part of the crew of a motor yacht that crossed the channel to help evacuate the BEF. As a small boat they ferried from the beach to larger naval vessels until they had to return due to low fuel.

To whom are we losing?

Bunch of geezers using 3rd-rate drones and missiles.

Maybe you should compare the economic damage being done to the world right now.

On the other hand... over the course of 20+ years, we only killed about 2,000 civilians. And we didn't manage to enslave any females and make them property at all.

But still lost.

If it weren't for the dead women, children and civilians, this thread would be comedy gold.

we didn't kill millions in Iraq. A couple of sources estimate the number of excess deaths at around half a million (not millions), but those estimates don't assign responsibility to any specific actors, and it's absurd to say we killed them all. They weren't even all violent deaths.
Who said they were?

Casualties of the Iraq War
Population-based studies produce estimates of the number of Iraq War casualties ranging from 151,000 violent deaths as of June 2006 (per the Iraq Family Health Survey) to 1,033,000 excess deaths (per the 2007 Opinion Research Business (ORB) survey). Other survey-based studies covering different time-spans find 461,000 total deaths (over 60% of them violent) as of June 2011 (per PLOS Medicine 2013), and 655,000 total deaths (over 90% of them violent) as of June 2006 (per the 2006 Lancet study). Body counts counted at least 110,600 violent deaths as of April 2009 (Associated Press). The Iraq Body Count project documents 186,901–210,296 violent civilian deaths in their table.
If I starve someone to death or give them a fatal disease I still killed them. If I incited others to kill them, or even just gave them the freedom to do so, I still killed them indirectly. Take the population that should be alive and subtract the number who are actually alive, and you get the most accurate measure of those who died due to my actions.

The count of confirmed deaths will always be lower. However we see here that even that is around 200,000, with at least least half of them 'violent' - and every one was a result of the US invading Iraq. 'Milllions' is only a slight exaggeration. It was actually only ~1 million. But hey, if you want to play that game:- according to the Arolsen Archives only 271,000 Jews were killed by the Nazis in WWII, not the 6 million most people claim. This makes it OK. :boggled:

Afghanistan had a border with Russia / USSR.
And why was that? And why doesn't Russia border Afghanistan now?
It was clearly an aggressive action by the US.
We had no involvement in Afghanistan prior to the Soviet invasion.

How would the US have responded to the soviets funding and arming terrorists in Mexico or Canada?
The same way we did in Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Cuba.

not all Soviet supported democracies.
No such thing.

Oppressed people may choose socialism over right wing authoritarism.
And those countries always fail, and then they come crying to us to bail them out.

Kurdistan, so you want to officially fund a terrorist force against a NATO ally?
I'll take the Kurds over the Turks any day.

We are stuck with Turkey. They're not our first choice.

That Hezbollah and Hamas are freedom fighters.
They're also homicidal a-holes. By the way, none of the Hezbollah guys are answering my calls to their pagers. What's up with that?

You may view it as a game. I view it as killing
No you don't. This is just as much a game to you based on how you give a pass your side murdering people for causes you believe in, while labeling pro-western fighters as terrorists, and murderers.

Take the population that should be alive and subtract the number who are actually alive, and you get the most accurate measure of those who died due to my actions.
Because only the US has moral agency, and thus only the US can have responsibility.

That's bull ◊◊◊◊.

At least you recognise that both sides 'freedom fightes' are equivalent. That Hezbollah and Hamas are freedom fighters.
Hezbollah and Hamas are not freedom fighters. They want nothing to do with freedom. No Islamic terrorist organization does.

Iran hitting US Base in Saudi Arabia, wounding several soldiers, some seriously.

This means that the missiles got through both the Saudi and US defense systems.
