Ed Israel/US Attacks Iran /Yet Another Country/Iran

The irony is they don't appear to love America much themselves, after all they just elected someone to basically turn it all upside down. Multiculturalism, soft power through aid, the nebulous 'woke' they're so terrified of, environmentalism and the shift to green energy, workplaces with women and minorities in them, not just white men, the departure from oppressive fundie-Christian values, and the list goes on. Trumpkins seem to just hate modern America, don't they?

If I criticise the guy who decided to 'solve the problem' of the big hornet's nest next to the park by putting a ladder next to it, climbing up, then hauling off and kicking the hornet's nest as hard as he could, that does not imply that I think the hornets are the good guys.
The claim that we're the bad guys isn't simply criticism of a decision. You can claim someone is doing the wrong thing or even a bad thing without them being the bad guy.

Good thing my post wasn't about that then. It was about the assertion that 'people who think the US are the bad guys, must therefore think Iran are the good guys' as if every conflict must have good guys and bad guys.

Indeed there is.

The statement that we are the bad guys isn't simply disapproval of actions. It's a condemnation of our nature.
That is a very narrow minded and biased view of the statement. Very unreasonable and unreasoned. It foretells of a future USA where any criticism of government actions is shouted down by clichéd slogans.

And it might benefit you to take a step back and view the bigger picture of the current "nature" of your country. It is not an attractive picture.

Is that the only alternative you can imagine to America being the bad guys? Weird.
Is "hating America" the only alternative you can think of to viewing the USA as " the bad guys" in their current "not a war" in the Middle East"?

You might find it profitable to review the topic of the thread before casting such overly wide aspersions.

You're kinda proving my point that your animosity towards the US isn't just about this war.

You just told me it's not just about this war.

Hey dude, the "nature" of your country was a topic raised solely by you. And implies activities well outside of the current "not a war" activities. I f you want to restrict the discussion to current activities in the Middle East then please do so.

Rick Scott: "... People want to destroy our way of life...."

This reminds me of GWB's similarly asinine explanation for 9/11 "They hate our freedom".

No. These people do not care in the slightest how you live your lives at home. They are not jealous of how many billionaires you have. They do not despise your sports. They are not upset by apple pie, nor indeed motherhood. They do not burn with resentment that your country music is yours and not theirs.

Take a moment to think, really actually think, about what part of one country's behaviour might be resented by people in an entirely different and far distant country.

Then reflect on what a horrible prick you sound like when you say you have to bomb people in their own country because they want to destroy your way of life.

Saudi Prince Is Said to Push Trump to Continue Iran War in Recent Calls

I did not have Bibi & MBS tag-teaming on my bingo card for 2026.
quite possible.
Saudi Arabia had the most interceptor capacity before this war started, and therefore Iran has mostly ignored it, concluding that their missiles are more effective elsewhere. It can reasonably think itself quite safe from serious attacks.
As things stand, Saudi Arabia would win twice if Iran is further degraded and the oil infrastructure of its competitors is in ruins.

Yeah, no. That's not a credible defense. Not in a conflict with Iran of all countries. Even if you think this was a mistake, to cast us as the bad guys (and Iran as the good guys by implication) isn't simply about being unhappy with the "current direction".
I think bad guys are more likely to get into fights with each other. One may have caused the deaths of millions this century in various unnecessary wars, be making the population of Cuba suffer by blockading oil supplies, threatening the territorial integrity of various countries, the other may have been the cause of thousands of deaths (mostly of their own citizens) and launched attacks on no other countries.

A false dichotomy.

Trump is a bad guy and he runs America according to his whims and prejudices and who he last spoke to that flattered him.
