Split Thread DEI in the US

You seem determined to avoid admitting that initial formal qualification doesn’t make one as good at the job as those who've been practicing the profession for years after attaining said qualification, but I'm not going to bother trying to make sense of this denialism any further.

if you don’t want to clarify your scenario by providing more information then i really can’t answer your unfortunately.

Not sure where here is, but this does represent a problem in the UK. If you then look at the males, certain groups are under represented, in particular white working class males and afro-caribbean males. This is a class issue. African males are over represented (an interesting phenomena that those of Black African ethnicity had the highest rate of university access whilst Black Afrocaribbean ethnicity had the lowest). The problem is that at least in part entry is judged on non-educational attainments that are harder for those from a poorer background to achieve.
Ireland.
Less of a race issue than a combination of anti-intellectualism among teenage boys, better study habits and female representation amongst foreign students.
Certainly in my recent interactions with medical students (mainly fifth years, about forty) the majority were women.

The unintended consequences of assessment. Boys do better in examinations, girls in continual assessment. As school assessments have shifted from a pure exam to a more continued assessment, boys grades have fallen and girls risen. About 60% of UK medical students will be female and ethnic minority groups (excepting afro-caribbean) will be disproportionately represented.

With us girls are doing better in standard exams too.

It's an interesting point to bring up with those that consider black folk to be less intelligent than white folk becuase they are black that in the UK the lowest performing segment in education are white, working class males, black working class males perform better.

Who are all these people who “consider black folk to be less intelligent than white folk becuase they are black”? You must live in a very racist country.

I wonder how prevalent Darat thinks people who "consider black folk to be less intelligent than white folk becuase they are black" are.

Progressives: Systemic racism means black people are less well-educated, and less able to compete in the workforce.

Also progressives: Black people are just as qualified as white people, and just as deserving of the best jobs.

The problem with DEI is that it's aimed at the wrong end of the pipeline, trying to make the most of subpar candidates that these corporations had no hand in educating or training for the real world. Meanwhile, the progressive-run US education establishment seems incapable of turning out black graduates who are actually competitive in job interviews. Hence the need for DEI: It penalizes Evil Corporations for hiring based on merit rather than skin color, instead of reforming the dog's breakfast that is progressive-run education in the US. Fix the teachers, and DEI goes away.

Fixed your strawman for you.

Stop. The Chicago pubic schools are predominantly Black (or at least non-White) and get tons of cash with high per-pupil spending. Yet . . . Is your argument that public school teachers in Chicago are racist against their Black students?

Why are Chicago predominantly-black schools (assuming that this is actually the case which you have not demonstrated) getting so much cash? Has it always been this way? Was there a time in the past when predominantly-black schools were underfunded? What changed?

The politically connected teachers union. That's your answer. And it has been this was for a long time. I don't know how Chicago taxpayers survive.

Chicago Public Schools is spending more per student despite plummeting test scores

I do find it funny that progressives say that this or that group suffers an "-ism" in obtaining education and opportunities, but inexplicably ignore that the wealthy teachers unions are overwhelming left-leaning.

Before what? Are you saying that Chicago predominantly-black schools have always had high levels of funding?
No. But we don't live in ancient times. It doesn't change the observation that Chicago public school teachers, now and apparently for the last 50 years, must be totally racist. There's simply no other explanation. I mean, sure, a place like Wyoming can spend much less per pupil and deliver much better results. But that's an evil red state, so out of sight out of mind.

Nope. There's all sorts of contractual oblications to the staffing company as well. Europe doesn't have at-will employement so the staffing company that signs a contract to supply a fixed worker for 18 months does have a say on the matter. If there was something like a "buy an hour of labor, with the vendor company handling all supervisory stuff" then it would be easy. This was not the case.
Nonsense. The entire legal framework of temp agency work is built on the fact that the agency is the employer, not your company. If a contractor is a safety risk or incompetent, you send them back to the agency. If you "parked" a dangerous person at a bench for a year and a half just to avoid an HR ticket, that was a choice made by your own leadership, not "US brainrot."
How much experience you have with training and running a team? You will get a lot of people that are really really thick and training them is like trying to teach algebra to a cat.
Which makes your company's decision to rehire and retrain every 18 months just to avoid paying benefits to employees look a lot worse.
Why not? Do you have something against nurses and think that they are stupid? There were a few base degrees that worked well for our purposes and nurses was one of those, not many applied tho since most of them were busy at nursing jobs probably. Other good degrees were chemistry related and somewhat surprisingly mechanical degrees. PhDs were always a pretty solid bet though. Naturally we couldn't pick the best ones since we had the gender/race quotas to abide to so.

Legislation here dictates that contractors are in all purposes the same as regular FTEs and yes DEI is a massive brainrot. You check out your identity when you stamp in. At work your identity is "corporate drone", corporate drones are genderless, raceless and a-political. Once you clock out, you can be whatever you feel like.
You seem to be all over the place here. Are the nurses the "really good" workers you only found because DEI forced you to look outside your preferred pool, or were they always a "base degree"? Are PhDs people who take too many two hour toilet breaks, or are they a "solid bet"? You keep saying you can't pick "the best ones" because of DEI, yet you admit the nurses you hire solely because of your company's DEI policy are excellent, and that the tools themselves keep the output consistent regardless of the person. You're even flip-flopping on the job itself, claiming it's a role "anyone with a pulse who speaks English" can do, while simultaneously complaining that training people is as impossible as "teaching algebra to a cat."

Finally, you say workers should be "genderless, raceless corporate drones," yet you're the one who says you were guessing backgrounds based on names to hit a recruitment quota. You weren't even treating them as drones. You were treating them as lottery tickets to get yourself paid, and it sounds like you were actively gaming the system and ignoring safety risks just to secure your own bonus.
