Trump's Second Term

I'm not on the ballot

Q: In Texas, a Democrat won a special election in an area you won by 17 points. What is your reaction?

TRUMP: I don't know. I didn't hear about it. Somebody ran -- where?

Q: In Texas

TRUMP: I'm not involved in that. That's a local Texas race. You mean I won by 17, and this person lost? Things like that happen. I'm not on the ballot
Oh yes you are, mother ◊◊◊◊◊◊. Yes you are.

So...

Socialism - A) Nazis - in name, only superficially in practice. B) Socialism - Actual practice.
No guns - A) Nazis - No guns for disfavored minorities, little restriction for those aligned with them. Pretty much exactly in line with MAGA sensibilities. B) Socialism - Not intrinsic to socialism. Most US socialists aren't "no guns" people, though, so much as "gun safety" people. It's specifically because of how extremely irresponsible and disingenuous the far right has been that there's the backlash on guns that there is.
Censorship - A) Nazis - See Republican efforts. B) Socialism - Not really intrinsic, but limited, reasonable censorship to limit harm done by actual bad actors (child abuse porn is bad, malicious lies and slander are bad) is generally favored.
Media mind control - A) Nazis - See Republican efforts. B) Socialism - Just no. Totalitarianism masquerading as socialism likely has that as a feature, but that's a totalitarianism thing, not a socialism thing.
Abortion - A) Nazis - Abortion was banned for desireables and enforced upon undesireables. Republicans, especially MAGA, are not far from that at all. B) Socialism - Not intrinsic to socialism. In the US, socialists generally are in favor of women's choice with limited restrictions, though, not least because that approach seems to be the most healthy for society as a whole.
Hate Jews - Nazis - Yup. Antisemitism something that exists across the political spectrum. MAGA, in particular, spreads antisemitic conspiracy theories that are largely rehashes of Nazi conspiracy theories, though. Where anti-Jew attitudes exist on the left, there's generally more emphasis on being opposed to Israel, an oppressive right-wing dominated political entity, than Jews, though actual antisemitism certainly exists on the left and among US socialists, too. Hating Whites is worthy of little more than an eye-roll, though, especially when coming as an accusation from groups that actually do revolve around hatred of arbitrary other groups, as MAGA does.
Worship the Government - A) Nazis - See Republicans, especially MAGA. B) Socialism - "Worship" is utterly wrong. Government is a powerful tool that is best used to benefit all of society, but the nature of that tool means that concepts like "faith" and "worship" are terrible when the goal is using it to benefit all of society.
Much better just to to use the JJJ "oh, you're serious" clip from Spiderman 2.

They hate when you laugh at their idiocy, and they don't have the brains to read or understand the explanation.

Should also be noted that a few years ago Rotten Tomatoes implemented a policy where you had to have bought a ticket to rate a movie, so I suspect all these audience scores are based on those who actually bought tickets, or who had tickets bought for them, so yes the audience reviews can have little to do with the merits of the movie. If there wasn't such a policy I would expect the audience score to somehow achieve negative numbers..
I'm not sure how effective that policy is. I've rated films in 2025 and was never asked to prove I saw them.

You gave her your "Complete and Total Endorsement", remember? When you described her as "a highly successful Entrepreneur, and an incredible supporter of our Movement to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN", and asked "all America First Patriots in Texas’ 9th State Senate District to please make a plan to GET OUT AND VOTE on Election Day, Saturday, January 31st, for a phenomenal Candidate, Leigh Wambsganss"? Remember? Only a couple of days ago?

REPORTER: Are you ready to go to war with Chicago?

TRUMP: When you say that, darling, that's fake news. Listen. Be QUIET. Listen. You don't listen, you never listen. That's why you're second rate. We're not going to war...we're gonna clean cities up so they don't kill 5 people every weekend. That's not war - that's COMMON SENSE.

"We're gonna kill a hundred people every week so they don't kill five!"

When the cold hand of The Shadow closes upon one's shoulder, one should pay attention.

Don't give him ideas!

Anyway, he still has three more years to come up with new ideas like that, and his handlers are probably delighted when his attention is diverted to such matters.
Pretty soon his handlers will be thinking like Melania: "I thought you'd be dead by now!"

That's probably why she lost.

🚨 NOW: North Carolina’s Democrat Governor THREW IN THE TOWEL during tonight’s winter storm, ABANDONING residents, and leaving rescues up to private citizens

I pulled out 14 stranded motorists before my Tahoe became disabled, and I never saw a SINGLE first responder.

Shameful, but predictable.

Stop voting Democrat

I never knew the Governor's duties included auto salvage.

Fair enough. The person in question is extremely unlikely to actually see my response, though, so they couldn't reasonably be the intended audience.

Politics aside, Rotten Tomatoes rating system is notorious unreliable,

Perhaps most of the budget of $40 million went into special effects, you know the de-aging technology to try and make Trump look vaguely presentable? They wouldn't have to worry about the uncanny valley effect, it's the untouched humans that will look weird when compared to the botox and filler brigade.
Actually, even with SFX like you say, I am wondering how the hell you spend 40 Million on a documentary, unelss you are looking for a tax shelter.
If it any comfort, the film has to take in 80 Million to break even ( a studio only gets roughly half of ticket sales) so the chances of Amaxon making a profit on this are pretty small. Much ado about nothing, and surprised people are spneind so much time on this, while ignoring theTexas Runoff election which is sending shock waves through the GOP with the Democratic candidate winning by a very comfortable margin in a solid Red district.

Trump won the district by 17 percentage points, and the woman he endorsed lost the district by more than 14 percentage points. That's a 31-point swing in just over a year.

It was no fluke. Rehmet finished 11 percentage points ahead of her in November, but a second Republican on the ballot pulled 16.5% of the vote so yesterday's election was a runoff. If all of those who voted Republican in November had voted Republican yesterday, the Republican would have won. But no, the Republican lost by 14.4 points. Might have something to do with being endorsed by President Trump.

I grew up in that district. I remember a lot of outright racism. The district's demographics have become more diversified (43% white, 14% black, 35% Hispanic, 7.5% other). The Republican candidate, Leigh Wambsganss, based her candidacy upon opposition to DEI, LGBTQ rights, "critical race theory", and abortion. In 2020, she said Black Lives Matter protesters "need to die, but they would still vote," thereby expressing her belief that dead people are voting in elections. A credible journalist who specializes in Baptist politics describes Wambsganss as a Christian nationalist in the mold of Kristi Noem and Karoline Leavitt.

The trailer I saw on YT had pretty much only negative comments, with the occassional trumpkin being roundly ridiculed in the replies.

As for Rotten Tomatoes --yes, these are totally sincere comments left by people sharing their actual experience. #notacult, indeed.

eta II: Riefenstahl was apparently a dude who made propaganda flicks for the Nazis in the 30s.
Godm the Jenn quote reminds me of some fanboy quotes for badly received CBMs I have seenon RT.
BTW, several studios have been caught posting fake fan comments on film boards......

Once again, this is vastly more important then the Melania movie.
Some anlysts are saying it was her Christian Nationlissm that doomed her. It was more then some usually GOP voters could stomach.

I thought they'd paid 40 million to licence it and another 35 million on promotion and distribution.
