Indeed, that was apparent. And whoever commented on them being trained for interplanetary immigration enforcement made me laugh. But it's still a springboard from which to remind people that ICE wasn't trained for anything like this. They did low-key civil enforcement before Trump shoehorned his shoot-the-protestors agenda into them. Imagine the building safety inspector showing up to your door in body armor, a gas mask, and a machine gun.

Keep being sarcastic. It's the only thing keeping some of us sane right now.

By doing this, Democrats are putting Illegal Alien Criminals over Taxpaying, Law-Abiding Citizens, and they have created dangerous circumstances for EVERYONE involved. Tragically, two American Citizens have lost their lives as a result of this Democrat ensued chaos.

It may surprise the director of the FBI to learn that it is in fact not illegal to bring a weapon to a protest—at least in my city. We have a thread on the shooting at our No Kings protest march over the summer. The guy who brought his AR-15 was initially arrested but eventually released and never charged. Why? Because it's not illegal in Utah to march down the street with an AR-15 held at low-ready. If it were, there'd be a lot of Proud Boys in jail in our city for what they did during various drag story hours they strutted around outside of looking like the Pillsbury Dragoons. After many months, the man who fired the fatal shot at another protester was finally charged—but only for one of the three shots he fired. The other two were classified as reasonable self-defense by our attorney genera. You can even fire a weapon at a protest without necessarily breaking the law.

Let me be clear: I don't think this is a sane way for a civilized society to behave. But if the FBI director is going to make up new laws to suddenly outlaw guns he doesn't like, he should at least try to make it sound pseudo-legal (viz. Rittenhouse). Director Patel does not enjoy a good reputation in my state, even among Republicans.

Agreed. But even if he weren't, to imply (at least) that shootings like those of Good and Pretti are acceptable consequences of rhetoric you don't like is a horrendous statement of policy- and, not incidentally, is just the sort of inflammatory rhetoric that the right is so self-righteously decrying from others.
