Split Thread DEI in the US

When your default for "merit" is "white cishet male", and anyone else is a "DEI Hire", yeah it's ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ racist. Also sexist and homophobic.
My default on merit is not "white cishet male." My default on merit is merit. Everyone is an individual. A person's race, alone, tells you nothing about their competence. If DEI has taught you otherwise, then you've been lied to.

You've been lied to. The far-right bubble has convinced you that "DEI" does not mean that. The far-right's definition of DEI sets the default standard for merit as a cishet white male, so that every time someone advocates for DEI and actual merit, they can say "Oh, that's just a DEI Hire" and give the job to a white man.

The current administration and far-right bubble doesn't give a ◊◊◊◊ about merit. If you do, as you claim, give a ◊◊◊◊ about merit, then you should come out of the bubble, stop listening to Joe Rogan, Elon Musk, Jordan Peterson, and Candace Owens, and start shifting your Overton Window back to somewhere near the centre where it belongs.

when joe rogan went to the white house to meet trump be brought his wife and two daughters, but not his half black step daughter. is that dei?

It's amazing how you feel non-White people are simply incapable of meeting basic standards. You're just propagating the soft bigotry of low expectations.

I don't listen to any of them. Well, Musk does come up on my X feed. But this clearly shows that you have no understanding of why people disagree with you. You're all about emotion.

I, for one, appreciate @Trausti's regular reminders that many White people are also simply incapable of meeting basic standards.

As for whether those reminders propagate soft bigotry or hard, I'll have to give that some more thought.

Yes. Many White people are incapable of meeting basic standards.

Unless you were born yesterday, it's not bigotry to acknowledge that some people - regardless of race - cannot meet basis standards (for whatever the topic). It is bigotry to imply that standards must be lowered for certain groups.

I can certainly see how Trausti's posts remind us that white people are incapable of meeting basic standards.

That said, I find it's not worth engaging with people who still can't grasp that DEI doesn't remove the merit based standards that companies use to hire people, despite it being explained to them in terms an elementary school student can grasp. Whether they are incapable of understanding the basics, or are sticking their fingers in their ears and yelling la-la-la-I-can't-hear-you, or completely understand but are choosing to be ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ on the internet because it's fun, no productive discussion will be had.

It may not in all instances, but it certainly prioritizes candidates by factors other than merit. Really, wareyin, if not for identity-based preference, why do you have DEI at all?

I don't think that. The white supremacist right-wing infobubble is trying to convince YOU that this is what DEI means. THEY'RE LYING TO YOU. And you just roll over and accept it like a good dog.

Jesus Christ, I've never seen such a complete lack of self-awareness in my life.

It's an emotional subject! I'm not ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ Spock. I care about what happens to people. I care about how far you have fallen into the far-right trap. I'm trying to help you. The far right is dangerous and doesn't care about you. It will use you to spread its propaganda and like a leopard, turn on you and eat your face.

Funny, when you repeat their talking points almost word-for-word.

You can't even see what you're saying. You are literally describing DEI. This is what DEI means. The rightist infobubble is what would have you believe otherwise.
