Trump's promised ICE raids have begun

Paid protesters

Burchett: ICE is doing a necessary job. It’s out of control. You’ve got a bunch of $17-per-hour protesters disrupting things. I think it’s going to kind of be like Memphis if the president ever sends the National Guard in. The media will cover the folks that are paid protesters saying they don’t need to be here, but when they interview the residents, they’ll say that we need law and order restored and they’re tired of the Somalis ripping us off.

As a child of the '60's, I can't help being reminded of all the claims of "outside agitators" whenever there were college protests. It was a lie then, it's a lie now.
Also, $17/hour? You can do better than that at McDonalds without the risk of being shot!

Ah yes, that bastion of rational and unbiased reporting, the New York Post.

Despite promise to remove 'worst of the worst,' ICE has arrested only 6% of known immigrant murderers

After six months of aggressive immigration enforcement and promises to focus on deporting violent criminals, the Trump administration has arrested and detained a small fraction of the undocumented immigrants already known to Immigration and Customs Enforcement as having been convicted of sexual assault and homicide, internal ICE data obtained by NBC News shows.

The data is a tally of every person booked by ICE from Oct. 1 through May 31, part of which was during the Biden administration. It shows a total of 185,042 people arrested and booked into ICE facilities during that time; 65,041 of them have been convicted of crimes. The most common categories of crimes they committed were immigration and traffic offenses.

Almost half of the people currently in ICE custody have neither been convicted of nor charged with any crime, other ICE data shows.

A citizen carrying papers as ICE say people should isn't good enough.
They will take you anyway.
Got to make that bonus quota.

ICE detain gardener with U.S. dual citizenship—Mayor calls it "abduction" of his lawful resident.

Agents get confused when he shows ID to prove citizenship—think it looks "too Mexican."

"I’m America citizen here!" man shouts.

"Ok. We’ll investigate it, downtown," agent snaps back.

"I was born at Memorial Hospital in Long Beach," man continues trying to convince agents.

Mayor Rex Richardson said city officials were not given prior notice of ICE activity.

"Witnesses report that a U.S. citizen may have been detained," hr said.

"If true, this is extremely serious and demands immediate answers and accountability."

The event occurred in Long Beach, California.

4th Amendment you say?

Immigration officers assert sweeping power to enter homes without a judge’s warrant.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Federal immigration officers are asserting sweeping power to forcibly enter people’s homes without a judge’s warrant, according to an internal Immigration and Customs Enforcement memo obtained by The Associated Press, marking a sharp reversal of longstanding guidance meant to respect constitutional limits on government searches.

The memo authorizes ICE officers to use force to enter a residence based solely on a more narrow administrative warrant to arrest someone with a final order of removal.

The relevant part of the memo does not say they believe they have authority enter private property without a warrant to do so. It says they can affect an arrest there, without claiming they have a right to enter uninvited. In essence, it only suggests agents are not constitutionally prohibited from trying to bluster their way in using an administrative warrant.

It tries pretty hard to insinuate the agents do have the right to force entry, but it doesn't really say that.

The memo, signed by the acting director of ICE, Todd Lyons, and dated May 12, 2025, says: “Although the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has not historically relied on administrative warrants alone to arrest aliens subject to final orders of removal in their place of residence, the DHS Office of the General Counsel has recently determined that the U.S. Constitution, the Immigration and Nationality Act, and the immigration regulations do not prohibit relying on administrative warrants for this purpose.”

Must be some more of that "small government" I was promised last week.

Apparently Don Lemon avoided charges:

A magistrate judge rejected federal prosecutors’ bid to charge journalist Don Lemon related to the church protest, a person familiar with the matter said Thursday.

The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss the ongoing investigation.

Lemon was among those on Sunday who entered the church in St. Paul, where a local official with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement serves as a pastor. Lemon has said he has no affiliation to the organization that organized the protest and was there chronicling as a journalist.
