Trump's promised ICE raids have begun

Q: The criticism is about ICE tactics against ordinary citizens who are not sex offenders or rapists. What do you say to that?

BOVINO: It's anarchists that actually cause ma and pa America to sometimes be near, at, or involved in a very tense situation. The only people dialing down that rhetoric is federal law enforcement

Agitators and Anarchists

Reporter: Ordinary citizens who are not sex offenders are getting swept up. What do you say to that?

Bovino: What we see when folks get swept up as you say, often times it's agitators, and anarchists

Wouldn't be the first time he pulled a stunt with that trick. No need in this case, though. Just listing the people who are dead because of his malice and perfidy, one per normal line, would more than take up that much space.

STFU Bovino, you lying, nazi piece of ◊◊◊◊.

Jonathan Ross is "at home recovering"
I'm sure he is at home, but I doubt any medical recovery is necessary.

In contrast here's what happens in my city if an officer shoots someone, whether or not death results. The officer is placed on paid administrative leave for the entirety of the procedure. An investigation is conducted into the shooting by one of the other regional police departments. The findings of that investigation are delivered to the state attorney general for possible criminal charges. Separately, the department's Internal Affairs division conducts its own investigation to determine whether department policies were violated, irrespective of criminal liability. If the officer's actions leading up to and following the shooting are deemed free of criminal liability and in accordance with departmental policy, the officer is returned to duty. Otherwise either criminal charges or departmental disciplinary action ensues. The police officer's union is permitted to act as the officer's advocates during both these procedures.

But we have been told that no federal investigation into the officer's conduct will occur.

If anyone thought that Senate Democrats would at least try to use the filibuster to block ICE funding, you have another think coming.

Democrats Support Bill That Would Give ICE $10 Billion

The party has few good options for restraining ICE, which is flush with cash thanks to the passage of President Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill.

WASHINGTON ― Democrats touted modest constraints on President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement in a bipartisan spending bill for the Department of Homeland Security on Tuesday, warning that shutting down the agency as some progressives have called for would do little to restrain Trump’s ongoing immigration crackdown.

“ICE must be reined in, and unfortunately, neither a [continuing resolution] nor a shutdown would do anything to restrain it, because, thanks to Republicans, ICE is now sitting on a massive slush fund it can tap whether or not we pass a funding bill,” Sen. Patty Murray (Wash.), the top Democrat on the Senate Appropriations Committee, said in a statement, referring to $75 billion in additional funding that Immigration and Customs Enforcement already received from Republicans last year.

“The suggestion that a shutdown in this moment might curb the lawlessness of this administration is not rooted in reality: under a CR and in a shutdown, this administration can do everything they are already doing — but without any of the critical guardrails and constraints imposed by a full-year funding bill,” Murray added.

. . . but without any of the critical guardrails and constraints imposed by a full-year funding bill," Murray added.
What ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ guardrails? A sternly worded letter? JFC democrats, get your heads out of your asses.

I don't understand: ICE already has plentiful funding, so the democrats decided to support giving ICE more money?

X is full of videos of ICE being thugs. Why is that being accepted? Where is the fight back? The most civilian armed country in the world is proving to be a push over.

Guns are not evenly distributed across the population. The Venn diagram of people ICE are beating up, people with guns, and people who voted for this is very asymmetric indeed.

Well, why should they? They're in a perfect position for the midterms. GOP polling numbers are at an all time low. Lifting the smallest finger to put up even the least effective, pro forma opposition only runs the risk of calling attention to themselves. They aren't going to do a damn thing to upset the apple cart, not at this stage. When the midterms come in November, everyone is going to flock to their bold, ineffective leadership and praise the wisdom of their stubborn refusal to act in times of crisis.

Speaking of historical hindsight, at least some of the blame for this situation rests on the Democratic strategy of refusing to hinder authoritarian BS to avoid alienating the voters who kinda sorta like the authoritarian BS, instead relying on someone else to stop it for them and everyone who wanted them to do their goddamn jobs to continue voting for them anyway because ◊◊◊◊ 'em, what are they gonna do, vote Republican? When was the last time this triangulation strategy genuinely worked? Clinton?
