Cont: The Marjorie Taylor Greene thread - Part II

I'm going with cynical political manoeuvre.
My experience with politicians has recently expanded to knowing more of them personally and participating in their work. From that perspective I conclude that most politicians care mostly about obtaining, preserving, and extending power. Doing good things for the right reasons seems to come a very distant second.

My theory is that she can see the writing on the wall and is trying to get ahead of everyone else, she wants to be the face of the "Not Donald" faction and is hoping the momentum will carry over when he craps himself to death
Quite likely. Yes, Rep. Greene is probably putting herself at personal risk by declaring opposition to Pres. Trump. But is she doing that altruistically because she believes Donald Trump deserves to be opposed, or is she doing it as a calculated move to increase her own prospects for keeping and extending her own political power? Specifically, how will she act after Trump—as you say—craps himself to death? Right now her actions seem to align with what many of us believe to be a good thing for the right reason. But a stopped clock is still right twice a day. Is that alignment the intended path forward, such that she'll continue to champion civility in politics? Or is it just accidentally praiseworthy, and will she simply revert to the same (or a different) brand of incivility once opposing Trump becomes moot?

My state governor campaigned on a platform of civility and moderation, which earned him a RINO badge from the right. Then once in the governor's mansion he swung hard MAGA. He is clearly vying for a post in the Trump regime, and our governorship has been such a path for others. The art of politics is in putting on a different convincing face for every occasion. I'm waiting to see how long MTG can hold this face.

My take is she probably was riding gump's momentum until he looned his way into an unforgivable moral deal with Epstien and pissed off big sections of the population including his own racist hordes.

Now she takes the next three years becoming the "voice of reason" in the right and slingshots herself into a presidential race.

Everyone starts races to presidential nominations set up a few years before the actual election. If she can pick up support from the newly faceless victims looking for someone to save them it's a win.
She has a lot of ground to go to shake the recto-plasm off her own nose.

Greene: I was called a traitor by a man that I fought for six years for. And I gave him my loyalty for free. I won my first election without his endorsement, beating eight men in a primary, and I've never owed him anything. But I fought for him for the policies and for America first. And he called me a traitor for standing with these women and refusing to take my name off the discharge petition. Let me tell you what a traitor is. A traitor is a is an American that serves foreign countries and themselves. A patriot is an American that serves the United States of Americans and Americans like the women standing behind me.

Figuratively fellating him at every turn didn't do ◊◊◊◊ for you, did it MadgeTadge?

Ye're both right Midge, both of ye are traitors.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene🇺🇸
@RepMTG
I am now being contacted by private security firms with warnings for my safety as a hot bed of threats against me are being fueled and egged on by the most powerful man in the world.

The man I supported and helped get elected.

Aggressive rhetoric attacking me has historically led to death threats and multiple convictions of men who were radicalized by the same type rhetoric being directed at me right now.

This time by the President of the United States.

As a woman I take threats from men seriously.

I now have a small understanding of the fear and pressure the women, who are victims of Jeffrey Epstein and his cabal, must feel.

As a Republican, who overwhelmingly votes for President Trump‘s bills and agenda, his aggression against me which also fuels the venomous nature of his radical internet trolls (many of whom are paid), this is completely shocking to everyone.

My phone is blowing up with constant amazing support. I’m so thankful!

The Political Industrial Complex and the toxic violent nature of American politics must end.

Our country is worth saving and it can only be done if we pull together and save ourselves.
There aren't enough laughing dog emojis in the world to do this rant justice.
Suffice to day that karma is a total bitch, and it couldn't happen to a nicer one.

She just doesn't seem bright enough to me to be making a calculated decision to break with Trump on the Epstein release and health care, even knowing that both those issues will be in line with the majority of even the Trumpist base. That would be a gamble that could pay off if the Trump implosion continues on schedule. So maybe she just happens to be completely and genuinely correct about a couple of important issues, even if she is a complete loon when it comes to other issues. She certainly would not be the first to be so inconsistent.
It has been a source of never ending amusement to me that the MAGA chuds are so opposed to universal health care when they are generally overweight, unhealthly slobs, earning low wages, who live off a diet of fat-laden KFC, Mackers and other junk food, and are precisely the sorts of people who, as they age, will need health care more than most, and wont be able to afford it.
