Trump's Second Term

Having followed the Trump administration closely for 292 days and cataloguing thousands of lies, illegal and immoral actions, and a decided lurch toward authoritarianism, I’m bringing this project to a close.

When I started, I was expecting to take only a few minutes each day finding one or two outrageous quips by Trump and noting them. I did not expect an entire cabinet full of hard right billionaires who know nothing about why the US has the social safety nets it has, sparse as they may be, and railing against them as socialist, Marxist, and Communist.

I did not expect so many shameless lies from politicians who forget that the Web is an incredible resource for ferreting out the truth.

What began as a supposedly straightforward task to document the occasional lie and hyperbolic post on social media has turned into a job that consumes nearly two hours a day. It's also rather depressing. So for the sake of my time and my overall mental health, I've decided to stop work on this.

It certainly displays the ◊◊◊◊-show this administration has become.
Thank you for your service. Could you compile them all in a document (if you haven't already) and upload it here? Would be a great resource to have to remember all the horrible things he's done and continues to do.

Getting more openly racist and petty.

BuT we MuSt kEeP Confederate statues

1/ Eleven Dutch parties across the political spectrum from socialist to conservative have issued a joint appeal to a provincial government to build a memorial to Black American soldiers who died in World War II, to replace one removed from the Netherlands American Cemetery

1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️

Anybody else find it weird that after Justice Kantanji Browns sent the order back down to the lower courts noting money was missing from Snaps contingency fund- which may have triggered the lower courts to request an audit- Suddenly the Senate quickly come to a deal. Yes, part of the deal is Snap is funded but it essentially stops that audit? 🤔🤔 Just me?

No, if money is missing and requires an audit it’s still missing and requires an audit

The SNAP contingency funds are just a number value on the books. The money missing means it was distributed to states. The audit will determine what states got the funds and how they spent those funds.

I think stopping is a good idea (however much I have appreciated what you've been doing), for your sake of course, but also for mine; getting the condensed version of this has sometimes been almost unbearable. It's too stark to laugh at, and I don't know what else to do...

If funds seem to be missing I suggest they check Trump's tariff shelf. His minions allegedly keep finding billions there unexpectedly.

He's a dupe, there's not going to be any kind of vote.
Hasn't he learned anything about the Republicans?

Angus King: "This initial strategy didn't work. And now we have one. We're gonna have a guaranteed vote on the ACA, and it may not succeed. I grant that. But a reasonable chance -- 10, 20, 30% -- is a lot better than 0% which is where we were."

Translation, There isn't a plan

BARTIROMO: How do you want this to play out once the ACA subsidies expire?

DR OZ: We have lots of great ideas, but I don't want to show our cards. As the president often says, why would I telegraph to you what we're gonna do?

Well, why the ◊◊◊◊ not? It's not the secret plans for a fortcoming attack on Wakanda, is it? It's your plan for the future healthcare of the American people, and you will have to let them know sooner or later anyway. And if your ideas are do great, you must want to tell them, so they will love you again. Right? RIGHT?

But I get it. You will present the plan in two weeks. Until then, it's on the tariff shelf, where no one will ever find it.

Thank you for your work.
I appreciate both of your work. (Although I rarely read them.) Nothing personal, but it's gotten to the point where when I check in every day the thread is three pages longer, and I can't be bothered to read all that stuff. I usually just skip ahead and read the latest few posts.

I haven't had the TV news on for months. Anything important I can get from the website headlines and God forbid, TwiX, because the information (biased as it may be) is there right away and I don't have to sit through talking heads and interviews and speculation. I can follow up elsewhere if I feel the need to.

Did the man with one of the highest IQs ever really read out loud the following "I [then say your name]..."
Rather than "I, Donald Trump"
Isn't he telling the people being sworn in what to say?

But is it normal to hold such a ceremony at a regular sport event?
