Trump's Second Term

Newsweek have done a good factcheck (spoiler he didn't warn about Bin Ladin or write the book)

Maybe what he meant to say was that he wrote to bin Laden in 2000 warning him that some FBI agents were on to bin Laden's plot. It would be TACO's methodology.

You must have been mistaken. It was number of rooms he renovated in the White house.
You're wrong, it's the number of steps he walked from Marine 1 to the White House front door. No Predisent walked that far before, none of them were as bigly as him. True fact, big burly men with tears in their eyes came up to him, men who never cry, and said "sir, you're the greatest Predisent ever, no body walks as goodly or as bigly as you!"

An interesting aside on the front page of the weekend financial times; there has been a record number of US citizens applying for UK citizenship in the last year, interesting if mirrored by other countries e.g. Ireland.
Ireland is a bit awkward if you're looking for citizenship by descent, because first you have to get on the register of live births which can be a tedious process.

Donald's Tariffs ended the wars

Trump: "I've ended seven wars. At least half of them was because of my ability at trade and because of tariffs. If I didn't have tariffs to throw around a little bit, you would have at least 4 wars waging with thousands of people a day being killed ... we're getting close to settling 8."
Actually, I do think there is a grain of truth in this. Trump is using his tariff powers to force warring countries to negotiating table, and it has worked in some cases, notably Thailand/Cambodia. Both parties agrees on this, but at the same time none of them really wanted a war, but wanted make a point for their home audience.

The 2025 Nobel Peace Prize will be announced on Friday. I fear for the world, since we all know who the laureate will not be. And Norway had better hide behind the Scandes.

The excellent More or Less looked into the claims of ending 7 wars. There was one that the USA might possibly have some credit for. Most of the rest weren't even wars. You probably can't stream outside the UK now, but I think you can download the podcast version, if not from this link then via your favourite podcast app. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0m5xfys

But even there, the war, or border conflict, has not been resolved, it's still going on.

The war will start when a state governor mobilises his national guard against the guards sent from a different state.

What are you trying to say here, zooterkin, surely Aberbijan and Albania aren't at war now?

Thank you for the link, they're been all over it here as well. Perhaps partly because we do feel that the Peace Prize is ours (at least when Norway gets it right. When they get it wrong, we disown them), since they only have it because of the Sweden-Norway Union, back when Alfred Nobel decided which went where. A Union we should never have allowed them to leave, btw.

And I am not saying that because they are immensely wealthy now, with all that oil.

Alright, it's the oil.

At the very, very, very least, Dems should put up a TaxClock of how much this nonsense is costing everyone: transport planes? Blackhawk helicopters? New detention centers? Massive sign up bonuses? Deportation? Ligation from wrongly detained people?
I would surprised if the cost per completed deportation is less than $20,000, and they want to kick out millions.
