Merged Charlie Kirk shot at Utah Valley University event. / Charlie Kirk Shot And Killed

Where did I say it was okay? I've not mentioned Trump in this thread at all. I'm just amazed at the people who profess to be skeptics expressing zero skepticism about something that is plainly ridiculous because it happens to suit their worldview (that Robinson is a MAGA and opposed Kirk from the Right).

The entire right wing media and political ecosystem has been claiming he's left wing from the beginning with zero evidence and that doesn't seem to bother you as much as what posters on an internet forum are saying for some strange reason.

It should be noted that the complete turnaround by conservatives on free speech isn't just limited to this forum.

Kimmel’s suspension prompts free-speech Republicans to reconsider their boundaries

In fact, some Republicans who consider themselves defenders of unfettered speech are getting more comfortable with limiting it. Sen. Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo., told Semafor that “an FCC license, it’s not a right. It really is a privilege.

“Under normal times, in normal circumstances, I tend to think that the First Amendment should always be sort of the ultimate right. And that there should be almost no checks and balances on it. I don’t feel that way anymore,” Lummis added.

There's more examples in the article.

The masks are off. We were right to call them fascists because that's what they always were.

Why do you think that you need to continue to escalate? If your mentally disabled cousin says something mean, do you really feel that you have to say something meaner in retaliation?

Seriously, just because Trump is an ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ doesn't mean that you and a bunch of other progressives are required to out-◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ them!

Care to point out what I ever said to "escalate"?
I don't even think the post you were responding to was calling for that, it just pointed out that the left was not gonna join in a grand celebration of the life of CK. Whoopty doo.

You know, Senator Lummis, if you had thought about the Second Amendment that same way, Charlie Kirk would probably not be dead right now. Just sayin'...

If my mentally disabled cousin is actively trying to turn the country into a fascist theocratic hell hole then turning people against him is wrong because its mean?

Somebody should have told Kimmel that; he might still have a job.
I've only seen a few of his monologues but they certainly seemed to be light entertainment with no attempt to pretend they were a news bulletin. Have you a link to show how his last show had drastically changed the format and he was making it look like it was meant to be a news programme?

"... MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them."
It was idiotic when he said it. There's still a lot of denial going on around here, but everything we've heard indicates the assassin was not MAGA. Kimmel was spreading disinformation, and by accounts was going to double down, which moves it into deliberate falsehood.

I don't read or hear that statement the way you apparently do, my understanding of it is not that it's claiming he was maga, but the (purely factual) statement that they immediately started claiming he was a left winger, or trans or a member of some other group that was not them. It's about them not him.

Utah Governor hoped Charlie Kirk's killer wouldn't be 'one of us' (YouTube short, 24 sec.)
"For 33 hours, I was, I was praying that, uh, if this had to happen here, that it wouldn't be one of us. That somebody drove from another state, somebody came from another country. Sadly that prayer was not answered the way I hoped for." (YouTube short, 24 sec.)
Many others were no doubt hoping that it wouldn't be anybody from their community, party, ethnicity, sexual minority etc.
This kind of wishful thinking is obviously the reason why MAGA insists that they did it, the 'radical left' being their preferred version of them.
It's also the reason why the MAGA conspiracists insist that there's got to me more than one killer. He is to blame is not good enough when your deep and dark desire is to punish them.

Yes, but avoiding talking about the news (as was suggested) goes very much against the grain.
Of course - but in broadcast media there has always been a distinction between entertainment and news, Kimmel is firmly on the entertainment side even if he is making topical comments and jokes about what is happening in the world.
