I actually heard a right-wing American politician saying that Kirk would be their Reichstag fire, which showed either a singular lack of knowledge or an exceptionally unlikely candour.
 
IIRC, Bondi was seen as one of the least bad of his picks when she was named. I'd say that was wrong but they are all so bad. Still, saying you're going to start prosecuting folks for speech, seems impeachable to me, remarkably dumb. The FCC threatening licenses is straight of the Chavez playbook. Trump and MAGA always gets worse.

It was idiotic when he said it. There's still a lot of denial going on around here, but everything we've heard indicates the assassin was not MAGA. Kimmel was spreading disinformation, and by accounts was going to double down, which moves it into deliberate falsehood.

but they said it was his comments about kirk. which, as you can see, he made no comments about kirk

I thought the show was meant to be light entertainment not a news programme.
 
Kimmel just needs to turn his show into a radio show, smoke lots of cigarettes, lower his voice and scream a lot and sell some snake oil while doing so.

Then he's good to go to spread the most outrageous lies and declare it entertainment!

Taking you out of the equation, I don't know what you've bitched about, but for the right to all of a sudden care about misinformation\disinformation is absolutely hilarious. Next level hilarity. The hypocrisy in this alone is enough to make every meter that has ever existed explode.

As Darat said, Kimmel is late night entertainment. Fox, Newsmax, etc. are trying to pass themselves as actual news and spouting disinformation as their default format, yet not so much as a peep from you, or any other rightie.

The way I interpreted that statement is pretty much how most of us horrible libtards view Robinson; he was brought up MAGA, brought up to believe guns solve your personal problems, and he may have distanced himself from his family's MAGA influence etc but he certainly did not leave behind the culture of violently hating those who you disagree with. So no, while it remains to be seen if he had any ties to online alt-right groups, to point out the desperation of MAGA trying to portray someone who fit their mold as something else is spot-on, not at all 'idiotic'
It does not matter whether he was hardcore 'MAGA'--the point being made is that MAGA wants to disavow their support of political violence.

There was another individual like Charlie who was around for 30 years or so and did threaten an institution. My brother told me about this Rush fellow on the radio and that I should give him a listen. I later found out his last name was Limbaugh, but never listened.

My brother told me that liberals tried to compete with Limbaugh and failed. Rush laughed at the attempt and said that they did not understand that he was first and foremost an entertainer and secondarily a political and social commentator.

Someone could have done exactly what Charlie Kirk was doing. A secular statist could have set up a tent at a university and expounded upon the wonders of centralized government. But like me 55 years ago, those college kids were already subjected to those teachings in their economics and political science courses. So, like the attempt to compete on the radio, this most likely would have failed.
