Merged Charlie Kirk shot at Utah Valley University event. / Charlie Kirk Shot And Killed

Treating this like she’s a co-host on The View instead of the most powerful law enforcement officer in the country.

Embarrassing levels of apologism for openly fascist behavior.

She doesn’t seem to have a firm grasp on the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Feels like that might be an important qualification for her job.
Of course she does - saying homeless people should be killed for being homeless is just a slight slip of the tongue, saying Trump and his Maga chums are idiots is terrorism and must be stamped out.

Free speech for me, but not ...
Source: ABC wants Kimmel back, but he needs to lower the temperature (CNN on YouTube, Sep 19, 2025 - 10:37 min.)
According to one of the individuals familiar with the situation, Kimmel’s planned Wednesday monologue as “very hot,” taking aim at the MAGA base. He planned to address the right-wing backlash to his remarks made earlier in the week regarding the politicalization of Charlie Kirk’s killing. It was then that Disney executives had conversations with Kimmel about “taking down the temperature” of his monologue, according to the individual. Nexstar announced its plan to pul Kimmel’s show at the same time.

2:29--> CNN host: And sure, freespeech is free speech. This is America. But Kimmel's words aren't some hateful diatribe. They're frankly, not even this.

Jesse Watters at Turning Point USA: Now you go in for the kill shot. The kill shot with an ambush. Deadly, because he doesn't see it coming. This is when you say, 'Doctor Fauci, you funded risky research at a sloppy Chinese lab, the same lab that sprung this pandemic on the world. You know why people don't trust you, don't you?'
Boom! He is dead. He is dead. He's done.

CNN host: That was Fox as Jesse Watters in December 2021. Trying to be funny. Months later, Watters got promoted, and after the brutal attack on Nancy Pelosi's husband Paul in which he was attacked by a man with a hammer,Pelosi's skull was fractured. He was in the hospital. There was a lot of really ugly rhetoric and conspiracy theories coming from the right at the time.

Guest on Tucker Carlson, Fox News: At 82 years old and comes home to find out that her husband was playing hide the hammer with the Black Lives Matter guy.
Tucker Carlson on Fox News: Well, I, you know, I've got guy. Of course, we can't confirm or deny your suggestion.

Gutfeld on Fox News: It's MAGA extremist behind this because they always attract illegal alien nudists who live in school busses who think they're Jesus Christ. ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ hell.

CNN host: And there was also Don Jr. He posted this image after Pelosi was attacked: "Got my Paul Pelosi Halloween costume ready."
Right. You see the link there to the the sexual jokes that you heard before. And Elon Musk, after he bought Twitter, posted a conspiracy theory about the attack on Paul Pelosi: "There is a tiny possibility there might be more to this story than meets the eye."
He linked to an article that claimed the attack was the result of a drunken sexual encounter with a male prostitute.
Now, of course, none of this was based in fact. The government, though, didn't try to get people fired because after all, free speech, which was gross, crass, awful. So what? Free speech!
So what is this silencing Kimmel all about?

There is a photo of Elon Musk's tweet in the CNN video at 4:30 min.

It was a stupid comment.

Bondi was the Florida State AG. We may fault her politics, but she seems reasonably qualified.
You really don't see the contradiction? She doesn't know what the first amendment is. That's the kind of thing that anyone even curious about entering law school should know. It's like a "reasonably qualified" mechanic saying that cars don't have wheels.

Yeah, lets actually have a good look shall we?
Oopsie, a lie!
A woman with a PhD in Political Science
A former University Lecturer in Policing, Public Services and Business Management at Plymouth University.
A former lecturer in Counterterrorism, Quantitative Analysis and Electoral Studies at the University of Exeter.
Who the hell cares? I don't care if she was a captain of her middle school field hockey team. Her CV as you present here has nothing to do with her claims of being an investigative journalist.
A freelance, published journalist with articles in Al Jazeera, The Sun, The Telegraph, The Daily Mail, and VICE News.
Yes, Mr Best and I already breezed over her journalistic triumphs. I can see why The Man needs to silence such explosive exposés, lol.

Yeah, your charaterizartion of Rebecca Tidy "some woman with an X account" is complete, clueless bull-◊◊◊◊. Once again, you have no ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ idea what you are talking about?
In the context of the police interaction, that's exactly what she was. A Cornwall resident tweeting about Cornwall goings-on.
And you made a factual error being corrected in good faith. If we are going to write about him, is it really so offensive to you that we should spell his name close to correctly?Touchy much?
Umm, no. That is what the Police have claimed.... turns out out she never mentioned his name, only that he was an "ex Police Sergeant"

I saw the original Twitter Post, when it was first made. Did you?
Of course not, nor would I even remember a small tweet that would have made no sense without names. She was using Twitter as a gossip board, having a convo with somebody else. You are seriously claiming you remember this in real time? Come on.
"Believed" is not evidence. UK Police use this canard to apply pressure to people.
*smartcooky adjusts tin foil hat*
Did you watch her interview? (of course you didn't).
Correct. Like a lot of posters, I don't watch interminable interviews to catch the couple sentences of content. I pursue the written stuff. Preference, I guess.
She LITERALLY said the part of the beach on which the photo was taken is "right in front of her sisters house"
And everywhere else she says 'in the area' or 'nearby'. I guess now her sister is neighbors with the accused ex-sergeant?
You don't have a clue what you are talking about. Newquay Beach is actually the same ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ beach!!!! Lusty Glaze is just the private part - they are literally a 30 second walk from each other.
Which contradicts nothing I said. But it does contradict what Tidy said.
This Daily Mail article makes no mention of locking her up or 14 hours.
Had you remotely been paying attention, I had edited out the reference to The Mail a full hour before you posted. In fairness, I only later realized she was tweeting about a seperate time Police detained her, for drug running (she says it was her partner, not her). I didn't want to sound like I was throwing shade on her with drug accusations, so I didn't spell it out, but I should have just deleted the whole thing, conceded. It was like 2AM my time and I was a bit bleary eyed. Mea culpa.
Regardless of your feeble attempts to assassinate this woman's character (and its disturbing how often this appears to be your go-to)
You mean like how she consistently reports that she was a journalist doing her job (no, twitter aint paying her, nor is anyone else for her local tweetys), and that she lies and says the police investigated her for a 'selfie with my daughter on a public beach', when she knows goddamed right well the police were only suspicious of the worded caption? That's deliberately deceptive, man, and if she was a journalist, she'd know that. Being deceptive is the unforgivable sin for an actual journalist, which is what makes me distrust her.
the fact is that all four of the Tweets she posted were LAWFUL. This was confirmed by her lawyer, and the Police should never have been involved.
I agree it seems a bit overzealous by police, but not totally without cause. Certainly not the fascist attack on journalists it is being framed as.
This is a case of bent coppers doing the bidding of their chum.
My understanding is that the cops don't like the accused sergeant at all, so I don't know where you're off to.

But this is the Kirk thread. if you want to talk about this crack undercover reporter and her wrongful incarceration for speaking truth to power, maybe another thread?

Or - and hear me out - you looked at the link I provided and decided not to scroll down far enough to take a reasonable position - that this woman is a journalist (i.e. she probably makes a reasonable proportion of her tiny income from writing for newspapers, magazines or news outlets such as the Daily Mail, Computer Weekly, MSN, Telegraph, the i paper, etc etc).
Yes, and in good faith I already had edited my post to include that she does write such articles, about 45 minutes before you posted this rebuke.

Saint Charlie! Move over Saint Paul.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan on Fox & Friends on Charlie Kirk: "This guy is a modern day St Paul. He was a missionary, he's an evangelist, he's a hero. He's one I think that knows what Jesus meant when he said 'the truth will set you free.'"

And another example of needing that "What the actual ◊◊◊◊ !" emoji.

One does wonder if the Cardinal (is he really? Or is it one of those churches like the John Coltrane one?) has actually read Acts, let alone all ot the Letters...

I always though Paul/Saul came over as a bit of a berk and too full of himelf.

Pet peeve: People making blanket generalisations about Christian religions as if there is single doctrine. :p.

Can I make a generalized statement that the only important religious rule is the Golden Rule (and everything else is just BS), or does this peeve your pet too?

I wonder what the current pope thinks about one of his cardinals calling an overt bigot a hero?

Some of you may not like LBJ, but I do like this relevant quote:

that they're building altars to a guy who made his bones bombarding children with logical fallacies
This is where we're at.

A guy who called for the murder of homeless people saying that a guy who told the truth about Charlie Kirk went too far.

"We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it. In between the finger-pointing, there was grieving on Friday. The White House flew the flags at half-staff, which got some criticism, but on a human level, you can see how hard the president is taking this."

The show then cuts to a clip of a reporter offering condolences to Trump for the "loss of his friend" and asking him how he's "holding up over the last day and a half."

Trump responds by saying: "I think very good. And by the way, right there you see all the trucks. They've just started construction of the new ballroom for the White House, which is something they've been trying to get, as you know, for about 150 years, and it's going to be a beauty."

i’m not really sure what specifically they are so angry at about kimmel’s comments.

i think kimmel should be cancelled on account of being a complete sell out shill slimeball. but as usual if the right gets something right it’s for all the wrong reasons while lying through their teeth.

Don't ask it to make sense. You'd have more luck asking a submarine to fly.

The right doesn't like Kimmel because he criticizes Trump. That makes him bad. Therefore, anything bad that happens to him is good. If it happens by the hand of God's most special president, then that's even better. The pretext of an underlying act is really irrelevant.

You really don't see the contradiction? She doesn't know what the first amendment is. That's the kind of thing that anyone even curious about entering law school should know. It's like a "reasonably qualified" mechanic saying that cars don't have wheels.

And the only other option is that she knows very well what the First Amendment is and said what she said anyway, thereby announcing her intention to do something illegal and unconstitutional.

So yeah, despite the fan club she has with the conservatives in this thread, there's no version of this that demonstrates she's qualified for her job.
