Yeah, lets actually have a good look shall we?
Oopsie, a lie!
A woman with a PhD in Political Science
A former University Lecturer in Policing, Public Services and Business Management at Plymouth University.
A former lecturer in Counterterrorism, Quantitative Analysis and Electoral Studies at the University of Exeter.
Who the hell cares? I don't care if she was a captain of her middle school field hockey team. Her CV as you present here has nothing to do with her claims of being an investigative journalist.
A freelance, published journalist with articles in Al Jazeera, The Sun, The Telegraph, The Daily Mail, and VICE News.
Yes, Mr Best and I already breezed over her journalistic triumphs. I can see why The Man needs to silence such explosive exposés, lol.
Yeah, your charaterizartion of Rebecca Tidy "some woman with an X account" is complete, clueless bull-◊◊◊◊. Once again, you have no ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ idea what you are talking about?
In the context of the police interaction, that's exactly what she was. A Cornwall resident tweeting about Cornwall goings-on.
And you made a factual error being corrected in good faith. If we are going to write about him, is it really so offensive to you that we should spell his name close to correctly?Touchy much?
Umm, no. That is what the Police have claimed.... turns out out she never mentioned his name, only that he was an "ex Police Sergeant"
I saw the original Twitter Post, when it was first made. Did you?
Of course not, nor would I even remember a small tweet that would have made no sense without names. She was using Twitter as a gossip board, having a convo with somebody else. You are seriously claiming you remember this in real time? Come on.
"Believed" is not evidence. UK Police use this canard to apply pressure to people.
*smartcooky adjusts tin foil hat*
Did you watch her interview? (of course you didn't).
Correct. Like a lot of posters, I don't watch interminable interviews to catch the couple sentences of content. I pursue the written stuff. Preference, I guess.
She LITERALLY said the part of the beach on which the photo was taken is "right in front of her sisters house"
And everywhere else she says 'in the area' or 'nearby'. I guess now her sister is neighbors with the accused ex-sergeant?
You don't have a clue what you are talking about. Newquay Beach is actually the same ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ beach!!!! Lusty Glaze is just the private part - they are literally a 30 second walk from each other.
Which contradicts nothing I said. But it does contradict what Tidy said.
This Daily Mail article makes no mention of locking her up or 14 hours.
Had you remotely been paying attention, I had edited out the reference to The Mail a full hour before you posted. In fairness, I only later realized she was tweeting about a seperate time Police detained her, for drug running (she says it was her partner, not her). I didn't want to sound like I was throwing shade on her with drug accusations, so I didn't spell it out, but I should have just deleted the whole thing, conceded. It was like 2AM my time and I was a bit bleary eyed. Mea culpa.
Regardless of your feeble attempts to assassinate this woman's character (and its disturbing how often this appears to be your go-to)
You mean like how she consistently reports that she was a journalist doing her job (no, twitter aint paying her, nor is anyone else for her local tweetys), and that she lies and says the police investigated her for a 'selfie with my daughter on a public beach', when she knows goddamed right well the police were only suspicious of the worded caption? That's deliberately deceptive, man, and if she was a journalist, she'd know that. Being deceptive is the unforgivable sin for an actual journalist, which is what makes me distrust her.
the fact is that all four of the Tweets she posted were LAWFUL. This was confirmed by her lawyer, and the Police should never have been involved.
I agree it seems a bit overzealous by police, but not totally without cause. Certainly not the fascist attack on journalists it is being framed as.
This is a case of bent coppers doing the bidding of their chum.
My understanding is that the cops don't like the accused sergeant at all, so I don't know where you're off to.
But this is the Kirk thread. if you want to talk about this crack undercover reporter and her wrongful incarceration for speaking truth to power, maybe another thread?
