Trump's Second Term

WHy does the idea of armed resistende to tyranny upset you so much?
It's a last resort, but there are times when Last Resorts are reached.
Well, the blame for a situation seriously considering the requirement of a last resort rests squarely on those who screamed "communist take over" whenever the need for social safety nets and control of corporate greed rose. I guess, sitting back and thinking, "I will always have my gun when things turn to ◊◊◊◊," results in people wishing things turn to ◊◊◊◊ so they can use the guns.

Outrageous flattery seems to be the most effective way of ensuring he does the least possible amount of damage to our country.
I am usually against royalty, and think that it is doubtful if they earn as much to the country as they cost. Denmark is of course different from the UK, but still: The king's treatment of Trump with no stops pulled may be an example where royalty is in fact worth every penny.

If Denmark gets trouble with Trump, maybe the Danish king should invite him to receive the Order of the Elephant?

Are there anybody who thinks that Melania's choice of hats is an example of good taste?
It's a Branding Thing - she is probably hoping for a Banksy or something else that will make her iconic - anything to be associated with anything but the sexual predator fascist who is the only reason why anyone knows of her at all.

So are you going to regard the murder of the Insurance exec first shots fired? How about an attempt on one of the cabinet? That's how armed revolutions usually start, you know?

Trump is the democratically elected leader of a country which has long been the UK's ally. There's nothing the UK could have legitimately done to prevent that, and nothing it can legitimately do to change it. All other countries can do is cope with the situation as best they can, and hope the US electorate eventually come to their senses. Outrageous flattery seems to be the most effective way of ensuring he does the least possible amount of damage to our country. There's nothing we can do about the damage he is doing to yours.
I mean the idea that the government of other countries are responsible for cleaning up America's overflowing cesspit is really bizarre.

Not insane and demented at all.

Has Germany considered reclaiming all those giant submarine pens it built on the Atlantic coast? Those countries just got that stuff for free. Come to think of it, the lucrative tourist trade in Normandy might make it well worthwhile reclaiming all those coastal defences too.

Italian bid to reclaim Hadrian's wall in 3, 2, 1...

Did you misinterpret Pixel42's comment about "our" country as "does the least possible amount of damage to the US"? Pixel42 is British, so the comment means "least possible amount of damage to the UK."

Y
Nobody is defending it.In fact there are a lot of protests in the UK over this. And not just about Trump. Starter has generally been a disappointment, particularly with regard to his economic policies and also his kowtowing to Israel. There are many who now feel that Corbyn was unnecessarily hounded out by an Israel lobby that was quick to label him an ant-semite just for raising concerns about Israel's apartheid
You are funny.

This.

Don't take your shame and frustration at your leader out on his victims.

No I was agreeing with Pixel42 and calling out the accusation by our resident potential American revolutionary who seems to think that other countries have to bear the cross of their stupidity.

Except in this case, the UK is rolling over and exposing its vulnerable (yellow) belly in order to appease the bigger dog.

What was there to gain from antagonising Trump? Would it help other nations who have been slapped with bigger tariffs than us? If you have a suggestion for what would have been a smarter play or more noble-minded stand for the UK to take, the floor is yours.

Well, this one is much later than usual. I try to maintain the list daily, but often end up going down a rabbit hole or getting caught in analysis paralysis ("should this go on the list or not?") This evening I finally got a list that's complete enough to post.

This is a rather shocking development, and a very bad one for New York City. How can such a thing happen? Washington will be watching this situation very closely. No reason to be sending good money after bad! President DJT”

618. Jon Karl: “What do you make of Pam Bondi saying she’s gonna go after hate speech? A lot of your allies say hate speech is free speech”
Trump: “We’ll probably go after people like you because you treat me so unfairly. You have a lot of hate in your hate. Maybe they’ll have to go after you. ABC paid me $16 million for a form of hate speech.”

619. Reporter: “Do you believe the federal reserve is an independent body?”
Trump: “It should be… but I think they should listen to smart people like me.”

They tried to force Charlie, and many other people and movements, out of business. They Weaponized the Justice Department against Sleepy Joe Biden’s Political Opponents, including ME! They allowed the daughter of a Judge, on one of the corrupt trials against me, to become the biggest fund raiser for Biden and Kamala, making many Millions of Dollars for herself and her family, but with her father, the Judge, not only refusing to RECUSE himself, but putting a gag order on me, not allowing ANY talk about their family corruption and unprecedented conflict of interest. Every leading legal analyst and pundit said this trial was wrong and should not have been allowed to go forward. But it did because of a Corrupt Judge who will hopefully pay a very big price for his illegal actions, someday!”

608. Q: “How will you send the National Guard into Chicago without the cooperation of the governor and mayor?”

609. Trump to Hegseth: “Get ready because you’ll be doing a lot of other places that are almost as troubled [as Memphis]. Some of them are equal. If you look at what’s going on in Baltimore where the governor was telling me how wonderful it is and you can’t walk across the street without being shot.”

Trump: “I’m not familiar. The who?”

615. Trump on declining GDP: “You probably saw some numbers today. I have to start off by saying that’s Biden, not Trump. Because we came in on January -- these are quarterly numbers.”

616. Bondi: “There’s free speech and then there’s hate speech. And there is no place — especially now, especially after what happened to Charlie — in our society. We will absolutely target you, go after you, if you are targeting anyone with hate speech.”

594. Earhardt: “We have radicals on the right as well. How do we fix this country?”
TRUMP: “I’ll tell you something that’s gonna get me in trouble but I couldn’t care less. The radicals on the right oftentimes are radical because they don’t want to see crime. The radicals on the left are the problem.”

595. Trump: “One thing I say is we have to have quick trials. I called it quick trial. ‘Cause in China they do have quick trials, you know? ... They should have a trial the following day.”

596. Trump: “They lost 25,000 houses to fires because they didn’t have the water come down from the Pacific Northwest. They have a lot of water but they send it out into Pacific to protect a little tiny fish which did very badly when it didn’t have any water, by the way.”

597. Trump: “Maybe I’ll be the first to say it right now again -- we’re going to Memphis. Memphis is deeply troubled. The mayor is happy. He’s a Democrat. And the governor is happy. We’re gonna fix that just like we did Washington. I would’ve preferred going to Chicago ... we’ll bring in the military too if we need it.”

598. Trump: “They took the unselect committee that investigated stuff. It found out that we were right on everything. They burned all the information because we were right on everything. Nancy Pelosi knew -- I told her, I said, ‘I’ll give you 10,000 troops.’ January 6.”

I am approving over $500,000 for the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate Tribe in the Great State of South Dakota for the terrible Storms and Flooding they endured in June. I love the people of South Dakota, who voted for me in Historic Margins in 2016, 2020, and 2024. Together, we will, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

602. Trump: “In the presidential election I did great in New York. But there’s a lot of question on the voters, on the booths on everything else, on the votes.”

603. Trump: “The Left is having a hard time...We’re talking about radical left networks and cable channels like...MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS, they’re all terrible. Absolutely terrible and unfair. But even they have been like this cannot be allowed to happen.”
