Trump says US wants Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan back
“We’re trying to get it back, because they need things from us,” President Donald Trump said in London on Thursday.
Bagram Airfield was the gateway to Afghanistan for a generation of U.S. service members. The last U.S. troops quietly withdrew from the base in July 2021, shortly before the Taliban took control of the entire country.
Now the United States may be seeking to reclaim Bagram Airfield from the Taliban, President Donald Trump said on Thursday.
“We were going to keep Bagram, the big air base, one of the biggest air bases in the world,” Trump said. “We gave it to them for nothing. We’re trying to get it back, by the way, okay? That could be a little breaking news.”
You accidentally stepping out of the helicopter while it's high in the air would be a bit of breaking news. Why don't you get to it?Not insane and demented at all.

Except in this case, the UK is rolling over and exposing its vulnerable (yellow) belly in order to appease the bigger dog.I'm reminded of the old definition of diplomacy as the art of saying "nice doggie" whilst searching for a big enough rock.
Sorry, but you are not going to convince me that absolute pacifism is not a really stupid idea. All it requires is to allow the worst of Humanity to tkae over. That's exactly why you should stay. Burst your social bubble. Talk with people, not algorithms.
And I disagree. I think the 2026 election is already fixed, and we need to either surrender or plan for the next step. And I am not ready to surrender. It ain't a coincidence that more than a few prominent voices are touting a "400 days to save Democracy" as we know it.

Fixed? It's possible. There are obviously efforts to fix 2026 in the works, as the incrementally increasing election rigging by the Republican Party has long kept very clear, though I'm not convinced yet that they'll necessarily be quite as successful as Trump and co wish them to be. As for planning for the future? Of course we should, as a general matter. Considering various potential scenarios, evaluating their likelihood, and preparing plans contingent upon which ends up being the case is pretty much part of being a responsible adult, I think. And I disagree. As you can see from the screenshot, I could not see the image you were intending to show because it did not appear (to me) in your post. So your post was completely lost on me. I still have no idea what it was about.I don't do that if the text can be copied. But for such a trivial matter there is no need to waste picture space here. Those that do not mind can see the photo.
Ah, it makes sense now: that hat is lined with copper and has a grounding wire running down the back of her dress. She was anticipating her husband being struck by lightning as he swears an oath she knows he cannot possibly intend to keep, while standing right next to her. That's her wide-brimmed cloche hat, the same one -- or very nearly the same -- that she was sporting while holding the Bible for hubby at the Inauguration last January. The Bible he kept his hand off of.

No doubt she feared there may be magical defenses in the palace that would aim lightning at him during this visit. If she had cared enough (I don't care do u?) to do basic research on the people she was visiting she'd have learned that Camilla converted all the royal residence sorceries to blood-based magic, to better mesh with her vampirism.

Guess the did not learn anything from Chamberlin and Munich.......Except in this case, the UK is rolling over and exposing its vulnerable (yellow) belly in order to appease the bigger dog.
Sorry, but the GOP will do everything they can to win in 2026..and I don/t see how they will be stopped. And that sorta just circles right around to the points made before that you seem to refuse to address. You also keep utterly mischaracterizing positions as "absolute pacifism," without seemingly any real supporting evidence to back your complaint up and evidence that pretty clearly refutes it. This is hardly the only case of you doing similar, of course, and it earns you eye-rolls far more than credibility.

With that said, I also happen to think that meaningful discussion of any plans involving violence and preparation for violence on an open, very public forum like this is just begging for those plans to be caught and crushed before implementation. Even if a smarter person were planning such, this would not be a venue to discuss or endorse such unless they wanted to fail.
New York Times said:The attorney general also said she could investigate businesses that refused to print Charlie Kirk vigil posters as the Trump administration pushes to punish anyone who celebrated his killing.
Attorney General Pam Bondi provoked a broad backlash this week after announcing she would “absolutely target” protesters engaging in “hate speech” — and claiming she had authority to investigate businesses that refused to print memorial vigil posters for the conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
The comments by Ms. Bondi on Monday appeared to reflect a broader effort by the Trump administration to punish anyone who has celebrated Mr. Kirk’s killing or even people who denounced his killing but continued to criticize his political stances.
Ms. Bondi was roundly pilloried for her initial remarks by a slew of conservative pundits, authors and lawmakers on social media within minutes of delivering them on two right-wing media outlets, after avoiding expansive public discussion beyond expressing outrage over the killing and support for Mr. Kirk’s young family.
Many of her critics pointed to a May 2024 social media post by Mr. Kirk himself, laying out clearly that while “ugly speech,” “gross speech” and “evil speech” existed, there was no such thing as hate speech under the Constitution.

"Today, as tyranny once again threatens Europe," Charles said.
Trump's head swivelled to look up at his host.
That was the point it became clear Charles wasn't just serving up niceties.
Along with the Hampshire watercress panna cotta and organic Norfolk chicken ballotine was a rather pointed message to his guest.
"We and our allies stand together in support of Ukraine to deter aggression and secure peace."
Then the body language got even more interesting.
Turning ever so slightly towards Trump, the king said: "And our AUKUS submarine partnership with Australia sets the benchmark for innovative and vital collaboration."
Kaboom.
Nobody is defending it.In fact there are a lot of protests in the UK over this. And not just about Trump. Starter has generally been a disappointment, particularly with regard to his economic policies and also his kowtowing to Israel. There are many who now feel that Corbyn was unnecessarily hounded out by an Israel lobby that was quick to label him an ant-semite just for raising concerns about Israel's apartheidGuess the did not learn anything from Chamberlin and Munich.......
And I find it incredible that so many here are defending this just because it is a Labor PM who is doing it. Pure blind Partyloyalty,.
