I think it is entirely justified to fear these lone-wolf left wing shooters: they carefully pick their target, make a solid plan and execute it: Luigi Mangione and this shooter both chose someone that the majority of Americans would secretly think "good riddance" of.
I fully expect to see more of these attacks in the future, as there a lot of potential targets thriving on public appearances and plenty of guns and competent shooters.
