General Israel/Palestine discussion thread - Part 4

Are you sure of that? I wouldn't have thought that they'd destroy Gaza and kill those living there in this truly vicious and utterly ruthless way - I have always been disgusted by Netanyahu and his ilk, but they have managed to surprise me with their violence, and with Trump propping him up, I am not sure that I can say no. I certainly think many settlers want them to, and I also think Netanyahu and Smotrich would want to if they thought it was at all possible. So no, I am far from certain. Fascism has a way of surprising you, that is the only thing i am certain of these days, and I don't like their surprises.

I’ll ask you then. Do you think that it is the serious objective of the Israeli government to occupy the land on that map? If you do, you are also posting dishonestly.
It absolutely is, because, as you have said and everyone knows, Israel is so small that it can be easily overrun.
Expanded territory is necessary to defend in depth if your policy is military dominance only.

You keep on posting this map when you must know that this is not Israel’s objective. This is completely dishonest.
I don't know what the current Israeli government's objective is. I am not sure they do either. There are certainly right wing elements in the government who talk of a greater Israel. Settlers have tried to cross into south Syria to try and create facts on the ground by having Jewish settlements in Syria, they have previously tried to establish Jewish settlements in Sinai. Who knows what a future right wing Zionist Israeli government will decide is the mytho-historic borders of israel.

Smotrich a current Israeli minister claimed Israel would gradually extend control over Palestinian territories, as well as parts of Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Syria, Iraq and Saudi Arabia. "In Israel: Ministers of Chaos".

“On the same day the Lord made
A covenant with Abraham, saying:
To your descendants I have given this
Land, from the river of Egypt to to the
Great river, the River of Euphrates”
Genesis 15:18

Herzl envisioned and delimited the Altneuland (Old-New Land of his Zionist novel) as encompassing most of modern Israel but extending to such northern Lebanese cities as Sidon, Tyre, and to such Golan heights towns as Quneitra. Herzl’s vision and that of some of the early 20th century Zionists also typically encompassed Judea, Samaria, and the Sinai Desert.

Still a ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ conspiracy theory that says more about you than you realise.
When the Israelis openly declare that there is no humanitarian crisis, no starvation, unarmed journalists are fair targets for murder, and that spitting is an act of "terrorism", its not far fetched to believe that some of them have some crazy territorial aspirations.

Still a ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ conspiracy theory that says more about you than you realise.
But whose conspiracy? Certainly not one I have invented. Certainly one that members of the Israeli government promote. I entirely accept that as the the current US government examples governments can promote conspiracy theories. The problem is when governments believe conspiracy theories or myths they may act on those beliefs. Israel currently occupies territory in Lebanon, Syria, and the whole of Palestine with an expressed intent against previous accords to occupy and annex Palestine.

"Israel’s supreme court has ruled that the government has failed to provide Palestinian security prisoners with adequate food for basic subsistence and ordered authorities to improve their nutrition."

"Israel’s supreme court has ruled that the government has failed to provide Palestinian security prisoners with adequate food for basic subsistence and ordered authorities to improve their nutrition."

So the Israeli govt is officially starving prisoners.

Still a ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ conspiracy theory that says more about you than you realise.
Doesn't look like a conspiracy theory to me. Looks to me like a cold hard fact that Netanyahu's direct stated intention is to expand to Damascus.

In August 2025, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in an interview with i24NEWS that he was on a "historic and spiritual mission" and that he is "very" attached to the vision of Greater Israel, which includes Palestinian areas and possibly also places that are part of Jordan, Egypt, Syria, and Lebanon.[30][31] He stated that the generation of his parents was responsible for establishing the state, and it is now his duty, as well as that of his generation, to guarantee the survival of this state (Greater Israel).[32] In response to Netanyahu's statements, the foreign ministers from Arab and Muslim nations denounced his assertion regarding "Greater Israel" as a blatant infringement of international law. The nations that expressed this condemnation included Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Chad, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Gambia, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Maldives, Mauritania, Morocco, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.[33]

Thank you. Another conspiracy theorist.
Time and again you have proven that you are just chronically underinfomed about what is going on in Israel, Gaza and the West Bank, so it's rather daring of you to just assume you know all about this Greater Israel thing you hadn't heard about until now.

All of which is understandable, since Israel has a policy of actively falsely presenting itself to the world and completely differently at home - most obvious in the messages of the speeches Netanjahu gives in English compared to what he says in Hebrew.

Maybe just listen and read a bit before making up your mind and being proven wrong again.

Asking for some honesty in return: did you know, or think it even possible, that Israel was systemically starving the Palestinian prisoners it holds?
Does that fit into the picture of Israel you have in your mind?

Misinformed? That’s cute coming from you.

I know about the Greater Israel CT/fantasy. Israel has had many opportunities to occupy land to come closer to this fantasy, but didn’t. Why? The Sinai would have been handy, but Israel handed it back to Egypt.

Your desire to depict Israel in the worst possible light is quite telling.

Expansion of major residential neighborhood going forward, as it should. (in Jerusalem's environs)

Reduction of major residential neighborhood going forward, as it should. (in Gaza's environs)

Israel's Defense Minister is announcing that "Gaza will be razed to the dirt" and "final warning"

(POTUS is making the same demand, in ALL CAPS)
