General Israel/Palestine discussion thread - Part 4

Might makes right, eh?

At least they're not masking it any more, not just this, but the general vileness, all of it..

"Skepticism" can, I suppose, do no more than bare our own motivations to ourselves, and help us detect inconsistencies, and remove those if we like. Likewise, help us see the actual motivations of others, and any inconsistencies they might harbor. Beyond that, ...*shrugs*.

You might show Hitler he was madly wrong about the Jews, but he may yet, despite understanding that, go ahead anyway basis tactics and strategy and sheer psychopathy. Likewise his lackeys and cheerleaders. You can't change their values, can you, or fatten up their empathy, their humaneness? That's beyond the scope of Skepticism, isn't it?

So at least it isn't a puzzle any more, what makes Hitler a monster, and his lackeys and cheerleaders. We're getting a first-hand, real-time, thinking-clearly-dissected demonstration right here --- when you take all of these discussions as a whole, these here, as well as the pzombie thing, the hierarchy thing, and all the rest of it.

Not much to argue now, other than details and tactics and such. Which of course is a lot, as long as you shift your POV in these discussions.

*shrugs again* Horrible situation. Despairing even. But what can you do?

Appeal to humanity and conscience. Empathy is not weakness. Compassion is not a sin.

Of course they aren't. I wasn't in any way disagreeing with you.

Can't appeal to what isn't there. Can point out to someone something they don't see. If they see if full well and are fine with it, then not much one can do.

Again, not in the least disagreeing with you, or discouraging you trying. By all means do the appealing thing, who knows it might hit home after all. If anything, sympathizing, empathizing, with your POV and your attempts.

The process for applying sovereignty is a long drawn-out political wrangle.

Jordanian King Abdullah warned that the Israeli “annexation” would lead to a massive conflict with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Condemnations were also declared by the UN Special Mideast envoy Mladenov, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security, Borrell Fontelles, and the Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov, while Archbishop Callagher, on behalf of the Vatican, and the World Council of Churches joined the choir of voices.

The adherence of the Europeans to the Palestinian narrative, that denies completely the historical and legal validity of Israeli claims to Judea and Samaria (West Bank), has not produced a peaceful solution in the many years that this conflict drags on. It is time for a change

Since the historical claim also includes part of Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan (whole of), Iraq and Saudi Arabia, no one is going to take the mythological / historic claim seriously.

Smotrich has very close ties to the settlers, and so does Netanyahu.

I am not blinded by any hatred of Israel, quite the opposite, I am however deeply disgusted by the current administration. And I could say the same about many other countries.

I don’t have any beef with you, but you haven’t answered my question. Does the Israeli government have the objective of occupying all the land shaded on that map?
