General Israel/Palestine discussion thread - Part 4

Please quote and cite the law that calls this out explicitly.

Not that it matters to me. Assassinating an enemy commander in his hospital bed is legitimate, in my opinion.

It is a war crime to kill an enemy soldier while he is receiving medical treatment at a hospital. Nevermind the fact that you have repeatedly disregarded the value & legitimacy of international laws governing conduct in a war.

Yesterday, HAMAS sent their media spokesperson out to spew more garbage about their refusals to release all the remaining captive bodies (two more of whom were recovered in Gaza by IDF special ops forces).

Today, there is no HAMAS spokesman anymore. Ta-Ta Obeida.

We will see what happens during the General Assembly session about to begin.
If it gets out of hand, and turns into an Israel-bashing fest, the POTUS may indeed turn to the UN, say he's done with these antics against the JewishState, and show them the door.
(Notice he's already withdrawn from various UN treaties and groups, and cut fundings)
So non-combatant spokesmen are legitimate targets? No surprise since the justification made for killing journalists is that they are giving a message out that is not pro-Israeli government. Haaretz journalists should worry about how long before the IDF come for them.

Ahhh, now Trump's 'agency' on behalf of Israel is becoming more solidified, as the Trump administration gears up actual defined steps to start implementing their new program to fix Gaza. (38-page document)

Known as the Gaza Reconstitution, Economic Acceleration and Transformation Trust (or GREAT Trust) envisions turning Gaza (and ostensibly, N.Sinai, once Egypt signs-on with this plan) into a high-tech and industrial center with solar energy farms, and developing a delightful tourist industry.

Each Palestinian family who chooses to leave Gaza would receive a $5,000 cash grant, rent subsidies in another location of their choice for four years, and one year of free food vouchers.
Mega-projects under consideration include electric vehicle factories, data centers, beach resorts, and high-rise apartments. The plan estimates nearly a fourfold return on a $100 billion investment over 10 years with ongoing revenue streams.
I guess you haven't been following American politics, then?

Why don't you learn some facts, they are easy to find.

Rule 35.

Hospital and Safety Zones and Neutralized Zones

Rule 35. Directing an attack against a zone established to shelter the wounded, the sick and civilians from the effects of hostilities is prohibited.

Rule 47.

Attacks against Persons Hors de Combat

Rule 47. Attacking persons who are recognized as hors de combat is prohibited. A person hors de combat is:
(a) anyone who is in the power of an adverse party;
(b) anyone who is defenceless because of unconsciousness, shipwreck, wounds or sickness; or
(c) anyone who clearly expresses an intention to surrender;
provided he or she abstains from any hostile act and does not attempt to escape.

So an injured enemy should not be attacked, anywhere. Persons in what the IDF have defined as a safe zone should not be attacked. Doing so is a war crime.

ETA this is what it says about journalists

Rule 34.

Journalists

Rule 34. Civilian journalists engaged in professional missions in areas of armed conflict must be respected and protected as long as they are not taking a direct part in hostilities.

Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, scholars' association says

THE HAGUE, Sept 1 (Reuters) - The world's biggest academic association of genocide scholars has passed a resolution saying the legal criteria have been met to establish Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, its president said on Monday.

Eighty-six percent of those who voted among the 500-member International Association of Genocide Scholars backed the resolution declaring Israel’s "policies and actions in Gaza" had met the legal definition set out in Article II of the 1948 UN convention on genocide.

But what do they know anyway?

Citizens of Palestine are now banned from visiting the USA. Not sure if this includes immigration visas.

Four items of clarification:

== That red inverted triangle is a symbol of support for HAMAS.
In this context, it's as if a member posted a swastika in an effort to show support for that ideology.

== Palestine National Authority documents are issued to "residents" because there are no "citizens of Palestine"
(These papers are for travel purposes only and not an indication of citizenship.)

== NewYorkTimes online is a registration-restricted site, and linking to it results in no access for the average joe.

== Perhaps millions of Americans have the same general attitude as many Australians do towards allowing Palestinians (or other foreign nationals) to immigrate?

That makes no sense, as the IDF has posted videos using the inverted red triangle. Are you saying the IDF supports Hamas???

:dl:

Your claim, so you can provide proof of this? What makes no sense is you using the symbol, it's just disrespectful at best, and supporting violence, at worst....
Your repeated calls for genocide, assassination of civilians, racist ethnic cleansing in Palestine are extremely disrespectful.

Your disregarding of racist apartheid and hate crimes against Arabs in the Israeli controlled parts of the West Bank is extremely disrespectful.

So yeah, your crocodile tears fail to move me.

FYI, it is 100% factual that the IDF has ALSO used the red triangle and blue triangle in their own military videos. So it is not exclusively an anti-Israel symbol, let alone an anti-Israel or anti-Semitic hate symbol.

In other news, Bibi the Butcher seems to really be pissing off the military establishment. I think a coup may be in the works if The Butcher goes through with his racist occupation and ethnic cleansing and annexation plans. The IDF is loyal but not suicidal.

Hercules56, The Blue one is an indication of IDF targets, like this POS guy who was eliminated just now ---

You wanna keep using the enemy marker, well that only reflects on your crappy attitude towards the Jewish State of Israel.

Yes, the government is getting ready for annexation of the Heartland of Israel.

...Yes, the government is getting ready for annexation of the Heartland of Israel.
That would kill the Abraham Accords, seriously damaged the peace treaty with Jordan and Egypt, and show the entire world that Israel is no longer interested in peace. Only endless war and perpetual isolation. Seems many Israelis may indeed me trapped in a form of emotional & mental Galut, and will try to maintain it by any means necessary, including via suicidal govt policies.

84% of members supported the resolution. Is there any other situation where the opinions of such a small minority should hold sway?

There are already many strong opinions which are contrary to this published resolution.

What holds sway is the IDF.

I certainly, as a skeptic, want to know the insights of 80 members of this Association, who saw fit NOT to agree with the characterization of Israel's military operations as 'genocidal' in nature nor implementation.

By now, we've all heard that POTUS is making deadline threats against the Gaza jihadists.
What's he backing this up with?

Will Israel choose peace, or eternal isolation?

I think when this disaster in Gaza is finally over, Israel will NOT have annexed any of the WB, they will NOT have peace or any sort of relations with KSA, Hamas will still exist in Palestine, and at least 5 more nations in Europe plus Australia will have recognized the State of Palestine in East Jerusalem, Gaza and the West Bank.

"...Hamas will still exist in Palestine" -- Hercules56

Indeed it will. Just as all the other Islamic Jihadist organizations, because they have popular support (and money).
They will continue to run their day-cares, their clinics, their barbershops, their mosques and madrasas, their sharia courts, etc...

Israsel will choose peace on its own terms, not yours, not KSA's, and certainly not the French!
