Trump's Second Term

I'm sure all the arrangements for her potential widowhood were settled at the same time as the pre-nup. And that they include a NDA. They were both far too experienced in transactional relationships to leave anything to chance.
Yes, but one thing would be that she wouldn't need to be seen in public with him

Ted Stoermer: Drumpf's national guard deployment is unprecedented and unamerican... If you're a rich white person.
If you put it in a historical context, it's exactly the kind of authoritarianism that was deliberately baked into the Constitution at the time, and has been wantonly used on everyone from black protesters to striking workers.
This isn't unprecedented. It's what America has always been.

I believe it was Ted Stoermer who argues that in a lot of ways, George Washington had very similar views to Donald Dump.

Meanwhile

The Trump administration has moved to terminate almost 500 employees of federally funded news organisation Voice of America (VOA).

The step is the latest in President Donald Trump's drive to strip back the outlet, which the White House has accused of being "radical".

Acting CEO of VOA's parent agency, Kari Lake, said the decision would "help reduce the federal bureaucracy, improve agency service, and save the American people more of their hard-earned money." A union representing employees called the step illegal in a statement to the New York Times.

And that put a Van Morrison song straight in my head, which I will now have to play in my late night musical meanderings.

It's fascinating to watch an ostensibly democratic nation collapse into a dictatorship in real time. It's not fun, indeed I would call it horrifying, but it's not a thing you get to see every day. It is morbidly fascinating.

Like a motorway pile-up done deliberately.
Complete with a sizeable part of the population enthusiastically approving of the slide to brutal authoritarianism, just like in Germany back in the 30s. Realizing how many Americans are 100% either in favour of, or willing to excuse increasingly brutal and cruel fascism has been the biggest shock of the Dump administrations :( . The shock of seeing him gain support and win the first election was one thing, but then he goes and does it again, winning all seven swing states. I get that the Resistance is so demoralized this time around.

I think it's more like one of those mukbang videos from a while back, where you watch someone eat themselves to death.

I am reminded of "Crash" ('73/'96, not '04).
