They're following the orders of their cult leader who once said law enforcement shouldn't treat arrestees too kindly. Of course this corrupt administration is playing up stories of ice agents being attacked (with posters) to justify violence against any who might oppose them.

Oh, but you see, I have it from the trumpkins that this is something ICE has to do, because see, we can't give all the illegals due process, that would overrun the judicial system, and it's all of a sudden absolutely critical that we deport all of them right now!!1111

Funnily enough, whenever I ask them exactly why it's so important we deport them right now, I never get a good answer and they tend to make themselves scarce really quickly once engaged. Crime? Most of them are law-abiding and crime in the US is plummeting. Jobs? No one's flocking to take them now that the brown people are in hiding, and the harvests are rotting in the fields. Drain on resources? No, to the contrary it seems they're vital to important parts of the US economy.

So, why? eta: Well, I mean other than 'brown people bad'. We knew that already.

A highway patrol officer asked everyone in the van to identify themselves, then called for backup. Officers with US border patrol arrived on the scene.

Video footage of the incident captured by Laynez-Ambrosio, an 18-year-old US citizen, appears to show a group of officers in tactical gear working together to violently detain the three men*, two of whom are undocumented. They appear to use a stun gun on one man, put another in a chokehold and can be heard telling Laynez-Ambrosio: “You’ve got no rights here. You’re a migo, brother.” Afterward, agents can be heard bragging and making light of the arrests, calling the stun gun use “funny” and quipping: “You can smell that … $30,000 bonus.”

The footage has put fresh scrutiny on the harsh tactics used by US law enforcement officials as the Trump administration sets ambitious enforcement targets to detain thousands of immigrants every day.

“The federal government has imposed quotas for the arrest of immigrants,” said Jack Scarola, an attorney who is advocating on behalf of Laynez-Ambrosio and working with the non-profit Guatemalan-Maya Center, which provided the footage to the Guardian. “Any time law enforcement is compelled to work towards a quota, it poses a significant risk to other rights.”

This is from here in my country. I don't have time to translate the whole thing for you, but basically most if not all of the Guatemalans in the concentration camp in Florida have committed no crimes. Just simple irregularities with passports, visas or immigration status. Just thought a report from another country might be illuminating, even if it is all ◊◊◊◊ we already know.

Right wingers both on this board and out in the world at large assure us that having an irregular immigration status is a crime just as serious as rape, murder or gang related drug offences - or even being suspected of having an irregular immigration status based on the colour of your skin or thickness of your accent.

I'm at a loss for words. Except I strongly agree with the last sentence. Voting for him in 2016, I almost get. That was the age of naïve souls going 'he has skilled people around him, it'll be fine'. 2024? Straight up unforgivable, no matter the excuses.
