Within the GOP (who control the House and the Senate and who are working hard to consolidate that control even if they end up losing the popular vote by a considerable margin), there are no saner heads to effect control.

The majority of the GOP is full on MAGA and those who aren't are loving what MAGA is doing.

Biden stole the elction. Anything done since 2020 is null and void.

Plus he used an 'autopen' so he didn't even know who he was pardoning.

We're at a point in our political evolution where a major party doesn't even bother saying the quiet part quietly anymore; and when a blatant call for an authoritarian use of the military on a strictly partisan basis like Comer's (ntm the damn President) isn't immediately met with opposition from leaders from both parties, and just seems like normal political discourse, we're already ◊◊◊◊◊◊.

I was also struck by the "[w]e spend a lot on our military" bit- as if to say "hey, why are we spending all this money on a military that we can only use against enemies abroad when we can use them against enemies right here at home?" With the definition of "enemies," of course, to be at the discretion of the guy who ultimately commands them and his lackeys.
