How exactly do they determine they have probable cause? It seems to me they are arresting a lot of people without probable cause.

The vast majority of people that they are detaining are in fact illegal. Only a very small number of people are arrested by mistake.

How do you know that? Seems to me that is what ICE is saying. Did you expect them to say anything else? What right are they detaining anyone? Again, what was their probable cause?

Were these people committing an obvious crime? You don't have to identify yourself to a cop. So unless they know exactly who they are looking for, how would ICE know? Or is this a case of stopping people with darker skin, or are speaking a language other than English? How exactly is either a probable cause?

Reminds me of that meme with the natives greeting the Pilgrims and some caption about how restricting immigration is hypocritical. Every time I see it, I think, "Isn't that why we should restrict immigration?"

Any rate, it is true everyone country has the legal right to determine who gets to come in from outside, which means they have the legal right to deport aliens legal or illegal. Doesn't mean it's a good idea, especially doing it the way Trump is, which mostly just seems to be his desire to deport more people that Obama.

That's the problem isn't. We don't know who's getting deported* but we do know there's isn't anything near enough due process to be sure they should be. And as someone smarter than me said, if you don't have due process for everyone you don't have it for anyone.

*Sure, we know who some of them are, mostly the ones Trump wants us to know about.

It amounts to trust us. Well, I don't. Nor should we. Trump should have gone to prison years ago. But he could afford 4 years of due process and then avoided accountability all together. ICE is conducting mass raids and conducting mass deportation without both probable cause or a single court hearing.

I guess if you're white and wealthy, due process is extended to you. If you speak with an accent or have slightly darker skin, you're SOL.
