Reform UK is preparing to launch its Doge-style crackdown on wasteful spending from next week, GB News has been told.

Nigel Farage is expected to start instructing auditors to inspect the finances of county halls across England once Reform takes formal control of all 10 of its local authorities over the coming days.

Why does he think auditors don't already inspect the finances of county halls? If he wants a more in-depth investigation, I hope the auditor fees are offset from any potential savings to give a net value to local taxpayers. . .

Well, it is now, but as CFK said, it wasn't when Starmer started there. It converted to being a fee-paying independent school in 1976, but existing pupils (of which Starmer would have been one) did not have to pay. 10 seconds with google was enough to check this, not sure why anyone would persist in asserting something when it is so easily checked (and that's not aimed at you, btw).
 
Vixen has had trouble with the concept of "public school" as the term is used in the UK, before, for example when she said that someone educated by Middlesex County Council could, courtesy of this educational establishment, walk into jobs with barely even an interview.

Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak also had help with fees, Johnson's paid for by the EU because of Dad, and Sunak because he received a scholarship. Starmer didn't have to pay fees at Reigate as he was there prior to when fee paying started and for him, it was free until the sixth form, after which, he was given a bursary. He certainly wasn't having to go down the road to the local secondary modern. He had a very privileged education, Reigate is ranked higher than Eton College in the A-Level ranking tables.

Sir Keir Starmer has been accused of "fudging the facts" about his education by the founder of a social mobility charity by suggesting that he attended a state school.

Whilst his family may not have been wealthy and his father was a 'toolmaker' (some say he owned the factory) and his mother was a nurse* nonetheless, Starmer's educational background is little different from that of the previous Conservative prime ministers'.

*I've met some very posh nurses.

I went to a direct grant grammar school. I have never claimed otherwise.

Middlesex ceased to exist as a county on 1st April 1965, how long did this reputation last?

You can't see it when you are within it. If you want to discuss this further, then please open a thread. I will say for avoidance of doubt that I know exactly how it works. I was a 'suit' and a haughty schoolgirl myself. I walked into jobs without even being barely interviewed.

The point that this is not the first time you have confused grammar schools with the type of school attendance at which would make someone part of "the establishment".
