Well germans are not traditionally considered white in america, just ask ben franklin

Well, I hope you're right, but we're already seeing legal green card holders spirited away in shackles by masked and anonymous agents in unmarked cars, some it seems deported without even the courtesy of being told why. Once upon a time due process was for everyone, not just us. I think the Rubicon has been crossed. "US citizens" is the point where the complacent populace looks over and says "How the hell did he get all the way over there?"

1984 I can see reading selected chapters, as it’s difficult to get a good sampling of lit in a short time.

Worth pointing out that Musk became a US citizen by first being an illegal worker, then getting a green card, then being naturalised in 2002. So definitely not a "true" citizen by ICE standards.

Except Congress can't unless Republicans grow a spine. Even if the Democrats get a usable, awkward squad proof, House majority in 2026 any attempt to do anything will die without a Senate supermajority - and that requires Republican help.

It will never happen. The Republicans are the party of Trump.

If Dems win control of just one house of Congress, they can begin hearings and investigations with subpoena power.

And they can write bills to limit Trump's power with regards to trade and other things.

And he can be impeached again if they win the House.

And if they really want to, they could shut down the govt to try to force Trump to stand down.

They can impeach to their hearts' content but without a Senate supermajority, there won't be a conviction and without a conviction there are no consequences. We've been through this before.

Likewise with bills, without Senate support they won't even get to the President for him to veto and in any case, if Trump is prepared to ignore a Supreme Court ruling he's sure as heck going to ignore a Democratic-led house bill.

I suppose they could shut down the govern it's a blunt instrument which is apt to backfire badly (sorry about the shockingly bad mixed metaphor) but in any case DOGE already has shutting down the government well in hand.

If that video is genuine, it is one of the things the German's did as part of their process of removing their undesirables:

Another thing the cultists will have to pretend not to see the problem with, while either cherishing the news or burying their faces in their hands going "oh god, now I have to internalize this as a good thing, too" for then to reach for the whiskey bottle.

At least that's how I imagine it to be.
