Trump's Second Term

Speaking to ABC News, National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett says there could be “some increase in prices” due to the new tariffs, but doesn’t believe there will be a “heavy burden” on US consumers.

He also says President Trump’s announcement wasn’t part of a plan to pressure the US central bank into cutting interest rates by stirring up market turmoil.

That follows Trump saying earlier this week that now would be the “perfect time” for the US central bank to cut rates.

“He’s not trying to tank the market, he’s trying to deliver for American workers,” says Hassett.

NEC director Kevin Hassett tells ABC News it was "not appropriate" to target Russia with new tariffs during negotiations over the war in Ukraine.

He also suggests the White House had not ruled out imposing tariffs on Moscow at a later date.

"I think the president made the decision not to conflate the two issues," he says. "It doesn't mean that Russia, in the fullness of time, is going to be treated wildly different than every other country."

I always watch Fox News at the gym (cause it motivates me to work out harder) and this morning, as other networks were covering the collapse of society as we know it, Fox's top story this morning was that "Biden was senile and the Democrats knew about it" --bringing on former staff to reveal that Biden was clueless. Priorities...

More than 50 countries have contacted Trump to try to negotiate after he announced sweeping tariffs this week the US's National Economic Council director, Kevin Hassett, says

More than 50 countries have reached out to the White House to start trade talks since Trump's tariffs announcement, according to the director of the White House's National Economic Council.

"They're doing that because they understand that they bear a lot of the tariff," Kevin Hassett tells ABC News.

Yeah, if I see a toddler walking around with his father's handgun, pointing it and people and shouting "BANG! BANG!", I might be tempted to offer the child some candy in exchange for putting down the gun.

Doesn't mean that the toddler is a brilliant negotiator though...

The tariffs are an oligarch gatekeeping scheme in which Trump must be bribed to act in favor of a supplicant.

Newsweek While bitcoin might be the most common type of crypto known to most Americans, Trump's new crypto coin differs in several ways. "Whereas bitcoin is primarily a decentralized digital currency and a store of value, the WLF token operates within a larger DeFi platform and has elements of governance, utility, and political messaging," Waite said. "It's intended to serve as both an investment vehicle and a utility token, empowering its holders to participate in borrowing, lending, and governance within the World Liberty Financial ecosystem."

While most crypto can be traded, the WLFI coin will be non-transferable and non-yielding. Additionally, a majority of the WLFI coin will be for accredited investors, with 63 percent of the token supply reserved for this group. That's specifically available to those who have a net worth of $1 million or more or otherwise meet the accredited investor threshold.

So far, more than 100,000 accredited American investors have been whitelisted for the project....

Trump's upcoming launch has been met with some concerns over how the platform could potentially violate the Constitution. If foreign governments are able to use the platform, it could potentially create a conflict of interest under a second Trump presidency.... The specific requirements for the majority of the crypto holders being accredited investors also have many complaining about the elitist nature of the project.
The tariffs ruining the world economy are a grift by a man who has no sense that anyone else exists, except as a pliable and cash-giving friend, or as foolish enemies who think anything else that is not cash matters in this world.

Trump worships a golden calf with his head on it. Says a lot about his supporters.

ETA: Yes, America, he owns you.

Quoted for perception. Damn you, I wish I'd thought of it.

And if they actually were would any 'mercan take that job that pays chinese wages and benefits?

And if it paid 'mercan style wages and benefits would anyone be able to afford an iphone?

The stupid is strong with this one.
They might for the benefits.

I'm betting that announcement has about as much credibility as his anti-lockdown feasibility study during covid that said deaths would cease by 21/05/2020 and that the US economy would contract by 40% if anything were done to stop the spread of the disease.

Someone should remind Lutnick how badly trump got played in his first term, when he and the state of Ohio showered Foxconn with incentives to set up a factory.

But there's a very good chance THIS toddler will just up and shoot you (On 5th Avenue) and take the candy from your cold, dead hand, while getting to keep the gun too.

At last check, Republicans have a solution for that. Make people really, really desperate for something, anything, so they'll be grateful for the pittance that the wealthy masters offer to them.

It sorta is a priority for them, though? Distraction, distortion, and deception are pretty much the bread and butter of Republican propaganda. Where a more reasonable assessment might try to fairly compare senile Biden to senile Trump, a comparison where Biden would "win" overwhelmingly, Republican propaganda is all about focusing on the negatives of Democrats, however contrived and out of context, and pie in the sky fantasies involving favored Republicans.
