I can't agree with making Trump just thepuppet; he has had this obssesion with tariffs since the mid 80's.
But yeah, thre is not one economist of any worth in the above; Navarro is particular is consisered a crackpot by almost all sane economist,s including conservative economists. I think Trump just chose people who agreed with his preeisitng opinions.

Trump has a lot of life-long obsessions, including blatant racism. At least one of those people is Project 2025, and others share their views. Many are hangovers from Trump 1.0. All of them are tariff hawks. Given Trump can barely describe things around him with more than the same dozen words, it would be a reasonable assumption that they were the "brains" behind this tariff disaster, not Trump personally. So I just wanted it out there that they are the actual culprits, while Disaster Donny is just their orange sockpuppet and distraction. Not that he can be excused, of course.

Lutnick has been bleating on TV about how good things are going to be, trying to gin up good news. There has got to be a stronger word than schadenfreude to describe what is happening to their little experiment.

If things get bad enough. Much worse than even now. Things will have to get to the point where millions of MAGA have no jobs, no health care, can't keep a roof over their heads, can't feed themselves and their children, etc. We're not close to that yet, and it may not happen. But the seeds of it certainly have been planted.

If that happens, people around him and in Congress will start to bail, if they think they can do it and not feel the wrath of MAGA.

Apparently the calculation is nothing to do with tariffs the Falklands impose on the US (i.e., reciprocal tariffs as claimed by trump) but US trade deficit with that country divided by that country’s export to the US.

An awful lot of people couldn't survive without those payments. Mrs. Shemp and I could get by for years without it, but millions would be in immediate trouble.

The loss of Medicare and Medicaid could be even worse for millions who are ill, disabled, living in nursing homes, etc. Since both of us have serious health issues and take a lot of medications, that would be even worse for us than losing SS payments.

You're right, that would be the end for Schitler's regime.
