Apparently the calculation is nothing to do with tariffs the Falklands impose on the US (i.e., reciprocal tariffs as claimed by trump) but US trade deficit with that country divided by that country’s export to the US.

This obsession with trade deficit must have a name and possibly an author. It couldn't be Trump who came up with it. Any economist here ?

Not an economist but trade deficits have long been an issue and not just in the Unites States. The UK at one point was obbssed with them.
So they are a legitimate concern. BUt Trump, as usual, messed it up totally.

An unpopular Tariff in the 1830's was nicknamed "The Tariff Of Abominations". Maybe we should revive the name.
