Trump's Second Term

Well, exactly. Surely everyone remembers grandma, sitting by the fire, pushing ball bearings into plastic explosives to make Claymores for the boys over in Vietnam? And telling stories of how her aunt Rosie spent all her life savings on jellied gasoline to drive the Chinese out of Korea once and for all, and how uncle Jack laughed when he realised their pensions were gone. "Up in smoke" he joked. Those were the days.

Where's that wartime spirit gone, eh?

From reducing everyone’s bills greatly and immediately to paying more for eggs is the patriotic thing to do and it's not Donald's fault anyway.

Harris Faulkner on how Trump should talk to "401k people" worried about tariffs hurting them: "Look, when this nation used to go to war, people in this country would support the war effort with their materials at home and making things for weaponry. We have to do 100% buy in over this bumpy period."

'I will reduce prices on day one!'
'Man, it's hard to reduce prices'
'It's Biden's fault!'
:crying and screaming: 'SHUT UP ABOUT THE EGGS!!'

'Let's play a game of make-believe! Okay, so we're going to pretend we're good citizens in a war and need to conserve resources...'

Members of President Donald Trump’s National Security Council, including White House national security adviser Michael Waltz, have conducted government business over personal Gmail accounts, according to documents reviewed by The Washington Post and interviews with three U.S. officials....

I am sure the republicans will give as much consideration to the Trump administration's use of private email servers as they did to Hillary Clinton's.

Like they used to say on AM Top 40 radio: The hits just a-keep on comin'!
Goldman Sachs raised the probability of a U.S. recession to 35% from 20% and said it expects more rate cuts by the Federal Reserve, as President Donald Trump's tariffs roil the global economy and upend financial markets. The brokerage also lowered the world's largest economy's GDP growth forecast for 2025 to 1.5% from 2.0% and projected three interest rate cuts each from the U.S. Fed and the European Central Bank from its previous expectation of two each...Europe is expected to fare worse than the U.S., Goldman warned, as it projected the region's economy could enter into a "technical" recession this year. The brokerage forecasts "little" growth for the rest of 2025, with non-annualised growth of 0.1%, 0.0% and 0.2% in the second, third and fourth quarter, respectively. Reuters news link

And as the US economy tanks all the MAGAmutts will brag: Hey Europe got it worse! Haw-haw!

Seriously though, it really is becoming a tragedy. And all because of one idiot.

In the relatively short term, maybe. The US will be damaged goods for decades.

And Tommorow is Liberation Day, when Trump anounces his new tariffs.
Rumor has it the EU already has a set of big time retliatory penalaties ready to go.
I suspect the same for China.
Trump has become totally irrational when it comes to tariffs. he will no tlisten to anybody, inclujding Wall Street and most major US BUsiness leaders.
This is going to be a diasaster.

I am not a fan of the filibuster. It is not, in my opinion, an honest way to win an argument.

Victory by exploitation of procedural loophole is a hollow and shameful victory. I'm not saying that it isn't ever necessary, if it's the only option available, but it leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
