Trump's Second Term

Burn down bridges and A-bombs

Watters: We don't need friends. If we have to burn down a few bridges with Denmark to take Greenland. We’re big boys. We dropped a-bombs on Japan and now they are our ally… America is not handcuffed by history

Comparing Imperial Japan and all its atrocities to Greenland. What a POS.

Will the troops chant "USA USA" add they march in.

I note now that that ill-starred Signalgate debacle now has expanded, as it seems among those included in the public top-secret discussion was Joe Kent, a conspiracy nut, failed politician, and unconfirmed Trump nominee for a position. I also had not realized before that one of the other reasons the Signal app should be disqualified for this kind of work is that it deletes conversations when done, leaving no record.

"We cannot just ignore the president’s desires.”

Vance: “The president said we have to have Greenland, and I think we do have to be more serious about the security of Greenland. We cannot just ignore this place. We cannot just ignore the president’s desires.”

Vance: "When the President says we have to have Greenland, he is saying this island is not safe..."
Well, duh, that's because a megalomaniac dictator wants to annex it.

Stand with us by giving in to us is the oldest military tactic in the book apart perhaps for giant wooden horses.
Maybe that was Plan A and they knew it wouldn't work because Dump would blabber all about it on Xitter, or they'd invite some Greenlander to the group chat.

"We're giving Greenland a polar bear, the best polar bear, it's the size of a small house, it's to be a token of our friendship, it's a great polar bear, can you believe they fit a whole rifle squad inside, the Greenlanders will really love it, we hope they will put it inside their government building..."

Which is, according to this article, on Alternet (via MSN, sorry Blue Mountain), against federal law:
Tulsi Gabbard, Trump’s Director of National Intelligence, testified this week at a Congressional hearing that the Signal app came “pre-installed on government devices,” suggesting its use was not limited to the Yemen fiasco...

Gabbard, in her testimony, did not mention Signal’s primary feature, which is a built-in option, activated by Trump officials, to automatically destroy its own contents on a pre-selected date. The Yemen screenshots show that, in coordinating their airstrikes, Trump officials set Signal to erase all messages coordinating them. Some were set to disappear after one week, and some were set to disappear after four weeks.

Deleting official communications is a federal crime, punishable by up to ten years in prison.

Even if sharing the Signal chat on Yemen was a mistake, as officials claim, choosing to set the date(s) on which all content would be destroyed could only be deliberate, a fact not lost on American Oversight.
It's almost like the reason Signal should have been disqualified for that kind of conversation is the reason it was chosen for it.

I think it's given that the "we need Greenland for national security" is a lie and it is the natural resources Trump et al. want access to. I suspect they may be successful by bribing enough of the population of Greenland with promises of a share of all that wealth under their feet.

PARIS (Reuters) -The Trump administration has ordered some French companies with U.S. government contracts to comply with his executive order banning diversity, equity, and inclusion programmes, highlighting the extraterritorial reach of U.S. policies and their potential impact on European corporate practices.

The companies have been told to confirm their compliance in a questionnaire entitled "Certification Regarding Compliance With Applicable Federal Anti-Discrimination Law." Reuters has seen a copy of the questionnaire.

The move comes amid rising economic and political tensions between the United States and Europe following Donald Trump's election on an "America First" platform.

It also raises questions about the practical changes targeted companies may need to implement, given differing approaches between the U.S. and France.

U.S. companies have embraced Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policies, tracking race and ethnicity data and setting diversity targets. In France, a secular approach limits such practices, with laws restricting data collection and corporate efforts focusing more on gender and socioeconomic background.

The documents will also spark concerns in European boardrooms that the Trump administration is widening its fight against DEI policies overseas, at a time when Trump's actions on tariffs and security ties have upended transatlantic relations.

They have an uphill battle if that's the plan, since supposedly 85% of the population is against Trump's proposals.
