The Truth about RFK Jr

I'm not entirely convinced that he actually wants children to die, though the end result hardly makes a difference. To want this requires a dimension of thought, purpose and attention to reality that is beneath him if you're him, beyond him if you're not. I think the delusion of his greatness and wisdom and his Kennedy entitlement makes him too abstract to consider actual children actually dying as an issue. Caring is for the woke raggy rabble. As we march boldly to the golden dome we cannot waste our tears on the bugs beneath our feet.

I get what you're saying but at some point I think it's fruitless to ask if the guy pouring gasoline on your house really wants to burn it down. Anti-vaxxerism = Dead children. Full stop. These psychos long ago surrendered anything approaching benefit of the doubt, even if that doubt is that they're too stupid or deluded to understand the consequences of their actions. We are fast approaching the point where the Venn diagram of stupid and evil is one circle.

Replication is neglected across all sciences so, ostensibly, more relication is a good thing. However, I wouldn't trust these quacks to carry it out.
If we added 20% to the NIH budget for replication, then maybe I could get on board with the idea, but the percentage I would pick might be lower. But a 20% loss of money that could go to new research is open to question. Right now only about one in five grant proposals is funded.

I agree in practical terms, but on some level I think the RFK type more dangerous. It's a bit like the difference between a liar and a ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊. A liar knows what the truth is, but a ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ either doesn't know or doesn't care. Evil people know what's evil. People who are crazy or stupid or both do not. His zeal is impervious to reason.

e.t.a. to be clear, that edited word refers to bovine excrement and its utterance.

To be precise, a ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ specifically doesn't care. If you say something untrue because you don't know, it's not ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊. At least, not as defined by Frankfurt.

The NYT reported that Dr. Peter Marks was forced to resign from the top spot regarding vaccines at the FDA. "“Undermining confidence in well-established vaccines that have met the high standards for quality, safety and effectiveness that have been in place for decades at F.D.A. is irresponsible, detrimental to public health, and a clear danger to our nation’s health, safety and security,” Dr. Marks wrote....Dr. Marks did not respond to a request for comment. A spokesman for H.H.S., issued a statement Friday night: “If Peter Marks does not want to get behind restoring science to its golden standard and promoting radical transparency, then he has no place at F.D.A. under the strong leadership of Secretary Kennedy.”"

I am not going to say anything further just now.

I was reading today that there are children in West Texas getting treated for Vitamin A toxicity. Anyone care to hazard a guess as to why?
It is interesting. One can understand the thought processes, vitamin A deficiency makes measles more severe, if my child gets measles (which is a natural infection) then giving him / her cod-liver oil (which is natural) then the illness will be less severe. If my child gets measles then he / she will become naturally immune. (Vitamin A pre-treatment to ameliorate measles is of course not something that has been shown to be safe or effective in studiers, and the toxic effects of vitamin A overdosage are well described; don't eat polar bear liver!).

Injecting things into children is unnatural (unless you are a mosquito carrying malaria, WNV etc.). Measles vaccine is unnatural and the immunity provided by measles vaccine is unnatural. The large studies showing the safety and effectiveness of measles vaccine aren't perfect because there has been no comparison with placebo (which is natural) or cod liver oil.

This is a phenomena that Mary Douglas would have recognised. The division of things in to being clean or unclean (Kosher, Halal). People like to classify things as being natural (god given) which must be good and harmless and artificial which is unknown and inherently risky. The same phenomena explains why people prefer to take untested homeopathy, herbal medicines or chinese traditional medicines as opposed to tested and regulated pharmaceuticals. The demand for detailed testing of 'artificial' chemicals as opposed to the acceptance of anecdotal evidence for 'natural' products is common.

My sister's best friend is into reiki, magic healing crystals etc, and one day when the three of us were together she assured us that apricot seeds prevent, and cure, cancer. Normally I just ignore her nonsense but out of curiosity, when I got home I googled it. The first link I was given was an article on the BBC news website reporting that WHO had issued a warning about this particular crackpot remedy, because it turns out that apricot seeds contain cyanide. There's only a tiny amount in each seed so you won't have a problem if you accidentally swallow one, but if you consume the things in the quantity required by this crackpot remedy you can put yourself into a coma with cyanide poisoning, and there had been a wave of cases of people doing exactly that.

This idea that natural = good and safe and unnatural = bad and dangerous is totally bonkers. Not only is cyanide natural but so are many other poisons, not to mention all diseases. But, as you say, it does seem to be something a lot of people assume without really thinking about it.

From Dr. Peter Marks' resignation letter,

The ongoing multi-state measles outbreak that is particularly severe in Texas reminds us of what happens when confidence in well-established science underlying public health and well-being is undermined. Measles, which killed more than 100,000 unvaccinated children last year in Africa and Asia owing to pneumonitis and encephalitis caused by the virus, had been eliminated from our shores. The two-dosemeasles, mumps, rubella vaccine regimen (MMR) using over the past decades has a remarkablyfavorable benefit-risk profile. The MMR vaccine is 97% or more effective in preventing measles followingthe two-dose series, and its safety has been remarkably well studied. Though rarely followed by a single fever-related seizure, or very rarely by allergic reactions or blood clotting disorders, the vaccine very simply does not cause autism, nor is it associated with encephalitis or death. It does, however, protect against a potential devastating consequence of prior measles infection, subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE), which is an untreatable, relentlessly progressive neurologic disorder leading to death in about 1 in 10,000 individuals infected with measles. Undermining confidence in well-established vaccines that have met the high standards for quality, safety, and effectiveness that have been in place for decades at FDA is irresponsible, detrimental to public health, and a clear danger to our nation’s health, safety, and security.

In the years following the pandemic, at the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research we have applied the same unwavering commitment to public health priorities to the development of cell andgene therapies to address both hereditary and acquired rare diseases. During my tenure as Center Director we have approved 22 gene therapies, including the first gene therapy ever to be approved in the United States. However, we know that we must do better to expedite the development of treatments for those individual suffering from any one of the thousands of diseases potentially addressable by the advances in molecular medicine over the past decades. Drawing from learnings of the pandemic, the staff at the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research are implementing best practices learned during the pandemic such as increased communication with product developers to further expedite bringing needed treatments to those in need. They have also been exploring the dramatic transformation of our regulatory approach to expedite the delivery of directly administered genome editing products. If thoughtfully approached and further developed and refined, these treatments have the potential to transform human health over the coming years.

Over the past 13 years I have done my best to ensure that we efficiently and effectively applied the best available science to benefit public health. As you are aware, I was willing to work to address the Secretary’s concerns regarding vaccine safety and transparency by hearing from the public and implementing a variety of different public meetings and engagements with the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.
However, it has become clear that truth and transparency are not desired by the Secretary, but rather he wishes subservient confirmation of his misinformation and lies.

My hope is that during the coming years, the unprecedented assault on scientific truth that has adversely impacted public health in our nation comes to an end so that the citizens of our country can fully benefit from the breadth of advances in medical science. Though I will regret not being able to bepart of future work at the FDA, I am truly grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such aremarkable group of individuals as the staff at FDA and will do my best to continue to advance public health in the future

HHS response to resignation,

“If Peter Marks does not want to get behind restoring science to its golden standard and promoting radical transparency, then he has no place at FDA under the strong leadership of Secretary Kennedy.”

The entire staff of the federal government's Office of Infectious Disease and HIV/AIDS Policy is expected to be laid off, multiple federal health officials told CBS News Friday.

I just came to the thread to post that!

RFK Jr. forces out Peter Marks, FDA’s top vaccine scientist
In his resignation letter, Marks rebuked Kennedy for seeking “subservient confirmation of his misinformation and lies” about vaccines.
